Again, I cannot answer your questions on a  clean and press.

Slight edge wear, blunted corners, spine corners creased/dented, top edge not properly trimmed.

The dented corners are not as severe as your previous book (the book IMO still takes a hit due to the creasing) and has very little to no spine stress, as the book sits right now, IMO...

    VF- 7.5

8.0 VERY FINE (VF):  Back to Top
An excellent copy with outstanding eye appeal. A limited accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Cover is relatively flat with minimal surface wear beginning to show, possibly including some minute wear at corners. Inks are generally bright with moderate to high reflectivity. An unnoticeable 1/4" crease is acceptable if color is not broken. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. Minor foxing. Spine is almost completely flat with a possible minor color break. Staples may show some discoloration. Very slight staple tears and a few almost insignificant stress lines may be present. Paper is cream to tan and supple. Centerfold is mostly secure. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present.

7.5 VERY FINE- (VF-):  Back to Top
Fits the criteria for Very Fine but with an additional defect or small accumulation of defects that detracts from the book's appearance by a perceptible amount.

    7.0 FINE/VERY FINE (FN/VF):  Back to Top
An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with outstanding eye appeal. A small accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear beginning to show, possibly including minor creases. Corners may be blunted. Inks are generally bright with a moderate reduction in reflectivity. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. Minor foxing. The slightest spine roll may be present, as well as a possible moderate color break. Staples may show some discoloration. Slight staple tears and a small accumulation of light stress lines may be present. Slight rust migration. Paper is cream to tan. Centerfold is mostly secure. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present.

    Blown away, thanks!

My untrained eye says pressing will making that crunch look better, but it won't disappear. Upper limit is probably an ≤8.0. I see a recent ebay sale for an 8.5 of $40, which is less than the cost of grading+pressing. Is this the UK edition? The back is different than all the copies I can find.

Aww thanks and it sure is the UK edition ~

I can answer that; yes, this is the UK edition.

I'll also go 7.5 here. I think a press might improve the UL corner and the LR back cover, but I'm not confident it will resolve any of the issues sufficiently to get this to 8.0. Regardless, nice book; UK copies are a lot harder to find than normal ones. Not confident on what that means for market value though.

EDIT: Just for context, I think the established number for the print run on the normal version is ~135k copies. The UK version is believed to have been a run of 2k or less. Demand may or may not be there in terms of actual market value, but this is definitely a tough book to find.

    Brilliant reply <3

I cannot answer your question on a clean and press since I do not subscribe to these services.

Dinged/Creased/Dented left top/bottom corners on front cover and top right rear cover, minor to moderate spine stress front and rear cover w/slight color breaks, slight color rub along the edges, slightly discolored staples.

The book presents very well, no major defects across the cover, however, the corner dents IMO are the big issue here...

As the book sits right now... FN+ 6.5

    7.0 FINE/VERY FINE (FN/VF):  Back to Top
An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with outstanding eye appeal. A small accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. 6.5 FINE+ (FN+):  Back to Top
Fits the criteria for Fine but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book's appearance by a perceptible amount.

6.0 FINE (FN):  Back to Top
An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose.

Yeah, everything I've always read has SW#1 as 1st App for The Beyonder although my CGC slab doesn't note it as such.

Speaking of the movie hype that was recently announced for SW I've noticed that SW #1 in CGC 9.8 has almost doubled in price during the previous week, while CGC 9.6 and 9.4s have stayed relatively the same. Is this how it usually works? The 9.8s explode in price first, and then when it reaches a price that people are uncomfortable with the 9.6 and 9.4s follow suit?

Woah! SW #1 II is still ridiculously under-priced and I created this thread a little over two years ago lol

    SW #1 II:

    • First full cover appearance of Beyonder
    • First full physical appearance of the Beyonder

@Lazyboy, I beg to differ lol  Because of the whole voice issue ~

The chipping on the back cover (could that be insect chewing?) is unfortunate b/c the front looks quite nice. Some rust migration. I'm guessing 4-4.5 but "presents well". Hopefully someone with Golden Age expertise weighs in, particularly on the pressing, b/c it seems like these Golden Age books present some challenges depending on how delicate the paper is. It also seems like there's a slight discount on some defects (staple rust?) with GA books b/c of the age.

A 4.5 there,,,, I would not clean or press this book if it were mine.

I was watching a video on YT earlier, it appears that issue #2 will be the first full appearance of Grogu. I'll probably just preorder issue 2 1:50 and just leave the 1:10 and 1:25 that I have for issue #1. I guess those will be ordered to the moon for sure and won't be worth as much, have to wonder if the #1 1:50 is also even worth going after at these prices since its just a cameo.

Ordered x2 of the 1:50 variant of #2 -- but what a cover! Which video would that be, I wonder?
