Is there a thread for anti-flips?

Dino sold this cover on today's dueling dealers for $2500

Sold 2 years ago at Heritage for 16.8K

Someone at some point these past 2 years must have taken a real bath on this before it got to Dino

Looks like the original art was sold at the HA auction while the other is all stats, that why it was such a drop, IMO.

I knew it had to be a children’s magazine because of the simplistic style and the copy that seemed geared toward a young child. Fantastic!

I wouldn't call it simplistic. Although a bit too muscular. Looks somewhat like Liefeld. Still hard to believe that Ron Lim and Tom Palmer worked on these. I found the rest and post them.

Based on the simplistic style, the repeated Xs, the sans serif font and the exclamation point, I would say this was from a children's book -- one for 6-10 year olds and meant as an intro to the X-Men. Marvel put out a ton of X related non-comics material for kids in the mid 90s (to include a book with an attached cassette tape!). I'd search for 1995 and above materials... art/content is usually done at least a year prior to the publishing date in the book world.

EDIT: FOUND IT! It is from the Feb 1995 issue of Disney Adventures magazine, Vol 5 #4. BTW I don't own this... am just darn good at research :)

Don't worry, all the Zeck art from the Florida exhibit was all safely returned back to me.  These were pages cut out of the Mike Zeck IDW Artists Edition that I helped put together a few years back.  It seems one of the trends these days is to cut out pages from the AE books and sell them to people as special prints on eBay.  Can't say that I'm a fan of that trend and unhappy when I see pages from the book selling for $50 each on eBay.  I'm pretty sure the people buying them don't know exactly what they're buying.

I was in contact with the seller about his listing last night and he kindly agreed to take down the listing since it was misleading. He claimed that he had bought them on eBay and that's how they were sold to him.  And, he got them signed by Shooter at a convention (and indicated Shooter was happy to see them).  But, yes, Buyer Beware and thanks to all those who alerted me to this listing to make sure that they weren't stolen from the exhibit.

Great to hear. I was thinking about theft when I saw the pictures. Thank heavens they are safe and sound.

I can't find these images specifically, but the upper right image is a take on the Amazing Spider-Man 68 cover.

    The Amazing Spider-Man #68 Crisis On Campus! (Jan 1969, Marvel) | #538283669

The lower right image is a take on the Amazing Spider-Man #3 panel where Dr. Ock beats up Spider-Man.  Not an exact match, but very close, including Dr. Ock's fist pump.

    I didn't see the others.

Very cool. Thanks for the information.

I found one on one of my collectibles2D689E06-21C7-442B-B9A0-A854B2895EB7.thumb.jpeg.da9d983c34452dd9ff0d96e6e8fe4cdf.jpeg

It’s a lunchbox. The others look familiar, too. I’d bet they are on other 80s-90s Marvel Super Heroes line collectibles. I don’t have a thermos in this one, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the other top Spidey image was on the thermos.

I’d also add it’s a pretty collectible toy line, so hold onto that art, buddy.

Thanks for the feedback but the Spidey I have looks a lot finer and streamlined then your lunch box. I will hold onto it, I love all of the images.

Yes the Shadowhawk auction is mine (not the Wizard of Oz but that is a cool page).

I just have to say that in the 3 months I’ve owned the art there is still a lot of love for Shadowhawk. One dozen offers became two dozen, higher and higher. I’m not sure if it’s the historical significance or the attention the character got with the Nintendo lawsuit.

I’ve decided to put it out there and see what happens. Worse case, it goes back into my collection until Image’s 30th anniversary.

I meant no disrespect but was just dumbfounded by the starting price. I hope you get what you are looking for, is it really close to 10K or is that just a super best case scenario? I just got to know.
