  1. Was talking about NFTs in general. I come to these boards as a hobbyist... no more, no more.
  2. I too was and still am a skeptic (to an extent), but our opinions don't matter now or in the long run. Elon's does. Also, fwiw, tons of modern galleries display so many $$$ works that appropriate Marvel/DC imagery seemingly without consequence. Edit: One thing -- NFT art can be and is widely displayed in virtual worlds. Such are the perks of digital ownership. I suggest reading up on the whole phenomenon for those who'd critique it. Now I'm gonna get back to what I love... the old-fashioned stuff. }:-)
  3. As with any market, glut of supply will lead to stabilization. It was novel when Mr. Delbo was the first among old school comic artists to enter... I remember connecting him and his grandson (a buddy) with one of the major cryptoart platforms. In hindsight, though, all of this was inevitable. Elon eat yer heart out. Now that the bandwagon is filling up, I expect values will conform to the existing pecking order in the physical art world, though there's an opportunity for up-and-coming artists to blow away buyers in the space through sheer skill and leapfrog it.
  4. Fwiw, there are even fewer safeguards against market making, shilling, etc. as things stand in the space. I have my doubts to go with the wow factor. Not just chugging the Kool-Aid. Although sale of NFTs is now literally helping me fund a physical Frazetta. I will do that 10 times outta 10.
  5. Creator owns the rights to the work.
  6. Can't delete it (because blockchain), but it's stored on a digital wallet (not on your hard drive), and can be sent into oblivion (a defunct digital wallet address). But why do that instead of selling for x 999999999? }:-) Get yourself all the OA in the world...
  7. Plus, it's not a drooling zombie like some of the others.
  8. Holy crappola. A friend from the space just tweeted this: CryptoPunks are the new Frazettas.
  9. I'm here, no one tag me. I wish I could say this is pure madness. But they're status symbols in the crypto world. And like most status symbols, make no sense except to the owner.
  10. Got my first MtG original art today. Partially funded by a crypto art piece sold yesterday (for x18). Bizarro world.
  11. Ahhh yes, Sienkiewicz was another. Didn't take long, though.
  12. As the owner of a Kevin Durant rookie superfractor 1/1, as well as the owner of an Artgerm Vampi... I admittedly look at the Vampi more often, but KD has my heart.
  13. Wholly deserved. The Cult of Tradd has eclipsed even the Cult of Sal & Boris on here... :O Tradd the Usurper??
  14. This has been an eggcellent thread. Bags has been the creator of many a notable, eventually $$$ cover. I appreciate the fact that he hasn't Simonson'd us with them (as much as I love Walt and his work).
  15. It finally happened... Sam Kieth. Still got nothing by him though.
  16. It's da plain truth. Plus I don't see an end in sight... perhaps a plateau some day, but not a popped bubble. Staying in all the day has brought about a sea change in terms of new / re-enthused collectors in a gazillion different collectibles hobbies. Holy hell, playing Magic the Gathering Online most nights has brought me to the cusp of acquiring my first MtG OA. Case in point.
  17. I learned long ago not to overthink the hobby. There are plenty of things I can overthink about... work, real estate, family relations, and the like. Here, I spare myself. Plus in agreement with many others in this thread, nostalgia is a primary but -not- the only driver for me. "Incredible art in my eyes" is another driver that can easily make up for the absence of nostalgia. With many of my favorite pieces, I had no idea who the artist was growing up. Off the top of my head... Frazetta, Royo, Lightle, Sienkiewicz, etc. Also, nostalgia can derive from a much later period in life. Doesn't need to be childhood. That said, I haven't picked up anything new since Nov... this has to be a personal record. Complacency. : > What oh what will break the dry spell?
  18. Forbes lost its way a while back. Along with pay-for-play, it also has 19171916 different "30 under 30" honors.
  19. Keep your fave cards, sell the rest to spend on OA, everyone wins.
