  1. Slight blunting of corners, minor spine stress with multiple color breaking spine ticks, small hole/piece missing on front cover above the "6" in "68", crunched lower right corner of rear cover, small tear(s)/piece missing on outer edge of rear cover, denting on top edge of rear cover, moderate staining/discoloration on rear cover, by the spine on the rear cover is what appears to be stains or creases (?). The book overall is very nice, however, due to the small tears and pieces missing on the outer edge of rear cover and hole on front cover, pieces missing are not allowed until you hit VG 4.0, "VG 4.0 - As much as a 1/4" triangle can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8" square is also acceptable." 6. Blunted corners with some color loss, slight edge wear with some color loss, minor to moderate spine stress with color loss/slight creasing/color breaking spine stress lines/discoloration along spine, recessed and discolored staples, slight spine roll, slight foxing/discoloration of rear cover. Two problems here... 1)The lower 1/3 of the front cover appears to be moderately discolored, I could only find one image online of this book, it was a lower grade copy and although the cover was darker at the bottom, it did not appear to be as dark as yours. 2)The staples appear to be recessed, is the cover loose or detached?
  7. I cannot answer your question on a clean and press since I do not use these services. Blunted corners, top right corner has a small tear, lower left corner has a 1" color breaking crease and color loss, slight denting along the top edge, a few spine stress lines, discolored staples, slight discoloration of front and rear covers, crunched lower right corner of rear cover, what appears to be scratches/color loss in the blue ad balloon, Questions... 1)Arrow 1 - Is that a stain or a small tear? 2)Arrow 2 - Is that a spine split? 3)Is the cover loose? 4)Are the staples just discolored or rusty, if rusty is there any rust migration on the interior pages?
  8. Blunted corners with color loss, color breaking crease at top right corner, long color breaking creases along outer edge, moderate spine stress with multiple color breaking spine ticks and moderate spine tears/staple tears along with moderate vertical color breaking creases, slight spine roll with the lower staple being off center, moderate foxing on rear cover by the outer edge, overall discoloration of rear cover. Cover shows moderate to significant wear, and may be loose but not completely detached. Cover reflectivity is low. Can have moderate creases or dimples. Corners may be blunted. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade. Some discoloration, fading, foxing, and even minor soiling is allowed. Foxing is a stain of biological origin, and is impregnated in the fibers of the paper." Due to the foxing and subscription crease, IMO... 3.0 GOOD/VERY GOOD (GD/VG): Back to Top A used comic book showing some substantial wear. Cover shows significant wear, and may be loose or even detached at one staple. Cover reflectivity is very low. Can have a book-length crease and/or dimples. Corners may be blunted or even rounded. Minor to moderate staple tears and moderate stress lines may be present, as well as some rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Centerfold may be loose or detached at one staple. Minor to moderate interior tears may be present. "Foxing, Unfortunately this is a problem that doesn’t have an easy solution. Book collectors are told to learn to live with it. The reason for this is that foxing (those brownish, yellowish, orangish spots on book pages) is very common even in rare books. Foxing is caused by a combination of elements: poor quality paper, damp storage conditions, and a kind of mildew organism. The reason we are told to live with it is that the coloring is embedded in the fibers of the paper. It is not surficial! That means you can't scrape it off because you would scrape a hole right through the page. It is possible to treat the foxing. Book and Paper Conservators know what chemicals to use. However, in order to use the chemicals on the spots they have to DISBIND the book. They can only remove foxing by taking the book apart and washing and treating the pages individually. You can imagine how expensive this is! Warning! Trying to do this yourself by treating with bleach (hydrogen peroxide) will damage your book worse in the long run from the acid! Ultimately, the answer is to find a replacement copy that has no foxing if you can or embrace the book collector ideology and learn to live with it. They are sort of like age spots on your Grandma's hands. No big deal, right?"

Cover reflectivity is low and in some cases completely absent. Book-length creases and dimples may be present. Rounded corners are more common. Moderate soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing may be present. The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square, although some Silver Age books such as 1960s Marvels have had the price corner box clipped from the top left front cover and may be considered Good if they would otherwise have graded higher. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is likely. May have up to a 2" spine split. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Books in this grade are commonly creased, scuffed, abraded, soiled, and possibly unattractive, but still generally readable. Cover shows considerable wear and may be detached. Almost no cover reflectivity remaining. Book-length creases, tears and folds may be present. Rounded corners are increasingly common. Soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing is generally present. Up to 1/10 of the back cover may be missing. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are increasingly common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is common. May have a spine split between 2" and 2/3 the length of the book. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Staple tears and stress lines are common, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown and may show brittleness around the edges. Acidic odor may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Interior tears are common.

  16. Apparently this was a way for newsstand owners to get credit for unsold copies, just like a remainder copy where they removed the top 1/4- 1/3 of the cover and sent it back to the distributor. According to the grading standards books with the price box cut out can only receive a GD 2.0 if they are a higher graded copy, if it is a lower grade book, it will be graded accordingly. 2.0 GOOD (GD): The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square, although some Silver Age books such as 1960s Marvels have had the price corner box clipped from the top left front cover and may be considered Good if they would otherwise have graded higher.

  25. Welcome To The Boards!!! As others have stated it all depends on what books you have and what condition they are in. I have some experience in this as a private seller, I am also selling a collection, they are my Son's books from when he started collecting in 98, many are books from the 80's that I bought new and I gave to him. I have been selling bits and pieces of his 2000 book collection for 2 years now (200-300 books for approx. $3000.00) and the keys are mostly gone, however, there are still 1500 books remaining, most of which are dollar bin books, I listed them for sale at $900.00 (.60 cents a book) for the entire lot and no real takers as of yet, I have had offers from dealers as low as 2 cents a book to as high as 25 cents a book, I also received an offer of $500.00 which was declined by my Son. Originally, before selling any of the books I contacted MCS and they said most of these books are not needed/wanted and to check their want list for books they wanted and the price they will pay (pennies on the dollar). Facebook Groups (that allow sales) and Facebook Marketplace are another option (I would suggest local pickup only for a larger collection), with scammers I would only accept PayPal Goods and Services or Cash (No Venmo or Zelle) and meet at a public place, my 20 year old Grandson sells gym stuff, motorcycle stuff, computer stuff and all transactions are done during the day at the Police Station. I am not in your situation however and do not need to sell ASAP which makes your situation different. Here is a list of some of the Marvel books from the 80's/90's that I am aware of that are hot/in demand/keys, even just a list of what you have would be helpful.
