  1. Marvel Legends, Marvel Superhero Secret Wars, Marvel Legends Come To Life...
  2. At least they talked to you and gave you a reasonable (if not acceptable) answer/explanation. Some companies do not want to be bothered with such things.
  3. I have LOVED this book and the Trilogy Forever (well at least since March 66). How can you not... Galactus is the S**T!!!
  4. Reality is what someone is willing to pay or has paid for anything. The LCS has this book priced at $25.00 and the Price Guide has it listed at $25.00, if someone pays $25.00 that sounds like reality to me.
  5. Here are some responses I found on this site regarding Blue vs Green Labels for Non-Verified Signatures. "Writing on the cover will sometimes get a qualified grade. Unwitnessed signatures by creators or notable people always get a qualified grade." "You can send the book back in for regrading and specifically request a blue label grade. The stamp will then be judged as a defect, rather than ignored. The grade will be lower - probably substantially so." "The book has a signature on the inside (not on the cover) - this gets you a blue label" "The book is low grade enough that an unverified cover signature wouldn't really affect the grade - this gets you a blue label too." STRAIGHT FROM CGC Does CGC grade autographed books? CGC does grade autographed books. The prestigious CGC Signature Series label (yellow) is applied to comic books that have been signed by someone of significance to the comic, under the direct observation of a CGC employee, a select CGC authorized witness, or in select instances where CGC accepted signed books directly from the signer/publisher. The signatures are authenticated by CGC and the labels indicate who signed the book, the date it was signed and, in some cases, the location of where it was signed. If a book is signed without a CGC representative present, it will receive a Qualified label (green), and will receive a Qualified grade. No authentication of signature is provided for books that do not have a CGC Signature Series label. Learn more about CGC Signature Series. back to
  6. Yes I agree with that to a point. Sellers are there for one thing and one thing only...$$$, and if they start at a high price and someone is willing to pay that price, no questions asked, well then... If you are at a show or your LCS and see a book that appears to be overgraded/overpriced and you are armed with your Overstreet Price Guide and/or Overstreet Grading Guide then you can legitimately ask the seller how he arrived at that grade and that you see certain defects/flaws on the book that are specifically listed in the "black and white" grading standards that dispute his grade. If you are armed with the proper info and come across as knowledgeable and "polite" about it you may be able to get the price down, if he is unwilling to accept what you say or come down on the price then you probably do not want to buy from him anyway. I have not been to any show since 2009 but weather it was a large con like Wizard World Philly or a Local Show I very seldom came across a seller who was not willing to come down on price if you were reasonable about your request.
  7. I have never dealt with CGC, do you get to request a label designation and if so did you??? From what I have read you will automatically get a Green Label. From CGC... "A Qualified label is used by CGC for certified books that have a significant defect that needs specific description, or to note an unauthenticated signature (one which was not witnessed by CGC). For example, a comic book with a missing coupon that otherwise grades 6.0 will receive a Qualified grade, avoiding a considerably lower grade. CGC would give this book a Qualified grade of 6.0 and a Label Text notation “COUPON MISSING FROM PAGE 10, DOES NOT AFFECT STORY.” Or, if the book is signed on the cover it may be noted as “NAME WRITTEN ON COVER IN MARKER." If you requested a Blue Label... According to the grading standards... 4.0 VERY GOOD (VG): Back to TopThe average used comic book. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade. How much of a hit will a higher grade book take??? If it were my book and I was placing a grade to catalog the book with my collection I would probably drop the grade from a FN+ 6.5 (which you stated you thought it was) to a VG/FN 5.0 with a notation stating... Would be a FN+ 6.5 except for writing on cover. Hopefully someone who has submitted a book with a non-verified signature for a Blue label will chime in.
  8. And I am agreeing with you that 5.0 is mid grade, just trying to get a point across that since 5.0 falls right in the middle doing the math is not that difficult.
  9. You do realize that $25.00 is guide, right??? 2015/2016 OSPG has X-Men 134 in VF 8.0 @ $31.00.
  10. I cannot answer any questions about pressing. IMO this book sits at a FN+ 6.5 as it is, IMO the only thing keeping it from a FN/VF 7.0 is the Color Break in the Stress Lines.
  11. Assuming the signature/writing is on the cover... From what I understand the book will get a... Green Qualified Label stating there is a name written on the cover and the writing will not count as a defect in determining the final grade. OR A Blue Universal Label counting the signature as a defect," writing on cover" and will be included as a defect in determining the final grade of the book. Since you did not post pics of the book we cannot give you an estimate of overall grade with or without the signature.
  12. Not to be a Smart A** but... NO DUH!!! Since 5.0 is directly in the MIDdle of the grading scale... You should never depend on someone else's perception of a grade or defects/flaws on a book. The grading standards are "literally" in black and white and there are even pictures/illustrations depicting/explaining defects/flaws on books and how they affect grade. It is up to you as the buyer to look at the pictures of the book, ask questions and determine a grade for yourself, then you can make an informed decision as to weather you should purchase the book or pass on it. We tell my Grandkids all the time..."Stop making excuses and blaming everyone else for things that did not go right or were not done or done correctly and take responsibility for yourself and your actions". All this Hub Bub over he said it was a 9.6 and it came back a 9.4, it is a comic book, who cares???!!! I DON'T GET IT AND I NEVER WILL!!!
  13. IMO... FN+ 6.5 Very Nice!!! 6.5 FINE+ (FN+): Fits the criteria for Fine but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book's appearance by a perceptible amount. 6.0 FINE (FN): An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose
  14. 3600 books and all are listed/graded(by me) and cataloged with pictures. The lists/pics are stored on my computer and two flashdrives. I do not keep track of what I paid for them, some were gifts and bought my me 30-35 years ago. I do remember paying $15.00 each for my ASM 14 and Avengers 4 back in the early 80's. Paid $35.00 for my F.F #12 in the early 90's.
  15. Then I would suggest you go straight to the horses mouth. http://www.idwpublishing.com/ What does the Indicia say about the book?
  16. https://data.mlpmerch.com/comic-covers/variant/blank/ https://data.mlpmerch.com/comic-covers/issue/friendship-is-magic/2/
  17. The grading standards list books as... 4.0 VERY GOOD (VG): The average used comic book. Up To And Including...7.0 FINE/VERY FINE (FN/VF): An above-average copy... 8.0 VERY FINE (VF): An excellent copy... Up To And Including...9.9 MINT (MT): Back to TopNear perfect...
  18. Slight differences from the Kirby autograph in my F.F. #8...??? Still Very Nice!!!
  19. Getting the book graded is strictly a personal decision and depends on what you plan on doing with the book. If you plan on selling the book is it worth the expense over what it will sell for? The only graded Showcase 55 that has sold on eBay recently was a FN+ 6.5 that sold for $132.00 If you are going to keep the book having it graded does not offer any more protection than a Mylite and Acid Free Board. As the book sits right now with a piece of tape it is IMO a VG 4.0 which makes the value of this book $40 - $50.
  20. I would be extremely happy with all of those books, Very Nice!!! IMO from what I can see in the pics and we will see how I compare to CGC... ASM 2 - GD+ 2.5 - GD/VG 3.0 ASM 3 - VG+ 4.5 ASM 6 - VG+ 4.5 ASM 9 - VG 4.0
  21. From what I understand anything you do to repair/restore a book will get you a Green or Purple Label but you can request a Blue label and it will be graded as if the repair/restoration is not present. CGC does not count tape as a repair or restoration, the book will be graded taking all defects into consideration as if the tape was not there. As already stated, without pics or an exact/detailed description of the entire book it will be near impossible to determine a grade on these books, from what you posted stating tape and a hole they could be anywhere from a FR 1.0 to a VG 4.0. 4.0 VERY GOOD (VG): The average used comic book. Cover shows moderate to significant wear, and may be loose but not completely detached. Cover reflectivity is low. Can have moderate creases or dimples. Corners may be blunted. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade. Some discoloration, fading, foxing, and even minor soiling is allowed. As much as a 1/4" triangle can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8" square is also acceptable. "Only minor unobtrusive tape and other amateur repair allowed on otherwise high grade copies." Moderate spine roll may be present and/or a 1" spine split. Staples may be discolored. Minor to moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as some rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Minor to moderate interior tears may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached at one staple.
  22. I would have absolutely no problem owning a Coverless/Remainder Copy of Avengers 1 if I was looking to complete my run and was on a budget which is how I collect. If you are only looking to flip this book and make a profit then that is hit or miss, you will not know until you attempt to sell it. There was a Coverless Avengers 1 in Poor Shape that sold for $300.00 on September 22 with only 6 bids (5 bidders), so...
  23. From what I see on the photo's GD/VG 3.0 is what I was thinking before reading your post of what the seller thought the grade was.
