  1. Hasn't the flood of modern variants being slabbed outpaced the yellow labels? Sure feels that way.
  2. Zack was too busy with his epic train wreck B vs S to mess this one up. So glad that he was busy!
  3. I purchased 5 copies of Lady Death. I traded them for Spawn toys (which I still have). Did I just write that?
  4. Any thoughts on the of the prices of the McFarlane pages? I liked that Infinity, Inc. splash. Both the splash and the cover were an affordable way to get two nice McFarlane pages. I was surprised at the jump the Carlos Pacheco Age of Ultron Vs The Marvel Zombies jumped at the end.
  5. Working now. Strange glitch for about 2 minutes.
  6. Anyone else having issues with the CL site? Pages aren't loading for me.
  7. OK, but my comment was not in reference to them. A flipper or a seller of SS yellow label books is going to stay far away from a book that has an inscription if others without it are attainable.
  8. A flipper or someone in the business of selling SS yellow label books would be bothered by the inscriptions as they know it detracts from the desirability of the book on the aftermarket.
  9. If you met the 20-year old version, down to a T then I'd like to see pictures of the claws she showed you.
  10. That's an insightful article. Thanks for posting the link.
  11. In a conversation, Mike Grell relayed that Hollywood is sniffing around and interested in the character.
  12. My comment wasn't aimed at your post. I quoted it because it used a good analogy of what I was thinking about the newer post in the thread.
  13. The last few pages of this thread have turned it from a discussion on the Jim Starlin topic and into "more axes getting a fine grinding than the annual lumberjack festival" thread. The thread took an off-ramp.
  14. So, are you advising Starlin isn't relaying the truth in his post? He stated that he signed 2 books without a witness, and was asked to hold on them so the owner could get a third. The owner then went to get a witness so he could see them being returned. The "witness" never saw them being signed.
  15. Vast majority? So, some aren't witnessed? How many aren't? I'm asking as it seems that dropping them off and coming back and picking them up from the artist is OK in the SS yellow label rules for witnesses.
  16. Like most non-toy and cereal manufacture advertisers, Coke's advertising campaigns were geared towards the people that purchased the products. The theory was that you sought out or targeted the person who controlled the purse/pocket strings. Coke was targeting mom and dad's via TV ads, ads in magazines, and product placement. If you look at older Coke advertisements (pre-1970's) you'll see that Coke was driven via image or impressions. It was about good times. There were some ads that brought in Speedy, Betty Boop and David Cassidy (for the teen market). They were conservative in their marketing and it wasn't until Pepsi captured a large chunk of the market that they woke-up and started to be a more aggressive in how they went after market share. Think the "swing for the fences" ads they attempted with new Coke that was a huge strike-out. I think they like many companies didn't view kids as having expendable income so they didn't target them.
  17. Correct me if I am wrong but many of the signatures aren't "witnessed". Unlike PSA/JSA who have a witness who sits with the person signing the autographs and watches all of them being signed; the autographs on who knows how many yellow labeled books are a drop it off, artist or somebody signs the books, then the "witness" swings back to collect them, and gets them to the yellow labeling company to be slabbed/graded.
  18. COA's are required by law in CA if you are a business selling autographs. OK, these entities are exempt - pawnbrokers, the individual who signs the memorabilia, and websites not principally in the businesses of selling collectibles and whose proprietors don’t hold themselves out to as having special knowledge or skill about collectibles.
  19. Mike Zeck. Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition - Punisher David Lapham. Rai #0 cover Photo of Laetitia Casta by Dominique Issermann Re-Gex alt cover by Rob Liefeld
  20. Same way he handled the Shadow. Matt Wagner is underrated.
  21. I met Jeff when WonderCon was in the Bay Area in the 1990's. Super nice guy and very down to earth. No one was at his booth when I walked by and stopped to ask him about Bone. He did 2 simple sketches for me - one Smiley and one Red Dragon. They will always be a part of my collection. Just the experience of chatting with him and seeing that he was interested in a fan made him one of my all-time favorite creators.
  22. What you described isn't the actions of people that aren't "fans". You are describing the actions of those that are business people that worship money. They aren't there for the experience, and to meet a creator because their work meant something to them. Their actions lessen the experience for those that only have one opportunity to meet their "heroes". Sad. Who was the party that got called out for their actions and made to apologize?
