  1. There is a documentary that followed Paul McCartney around. It showed him arrive and leave from an appearance. His loathing for the autograph seekers is very apparent and at one point he looks at the camera, explains that all of those ones he just signed would end up on eBay, and that's why he hates signing. So, yes, "flippers" caused McCartney to have a change of heart on signing.
  2. Sure, and if you'd like the experience of meeting them then go for it. Same for comic creators.
  3. Not the information I have on him. Could be wrong. The point of my post you quoted was that "flippers" ruined it for the true fans. I believe that to be true.
  4. If you look at the sports and music autograph markets it was the "flippers" that ruined it for the true fans. Star players and musicians got tired of being hounded by middle-aged guys who had suitcases full of items they wanted to be signed. Try getting Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Chipper Jones, and Barry Bonds to sign something for you. They turn fans down all the time. They got tired of "flippers" making money off their autographs. Now you have to either purchase an item off their websites, buy a backstage experience, go the sports memorabilia route, or purchase an item through a charity to get a signature. History is repeating itself in our niche of the collecting world.
  5. Mike Grell doesn't upcharge for signatures. He does charge an additional $25.00 if you want a sketch cover done. He says that's because they end up on eBay.
  6. If they did a signature variant that only has artwork for it alone it would be an excellent marketing idea.
  7. If fans stopped putting up with this sort of stuff it would stop. Looks like Marvel has been listening to Lobo...
  8. That's what happened across the street with their system. A very small number of posters built threads to give one another likes/thumbs-up clicks.
  9. Don't you guys think that they are just rehashing the first three movies with Rey and Kylo Ren being split up? My theory on who Rey is and why she was shipped off Just my theory. More than likely I'm wrong.
  10. Does that mean that Marvel feels it is catering to its core audience of middle-aged, substance abuser, white guys with this announced casting choice?
  11. No, it is protection from the Government. The Constitution is about the Rights the Government cannot take away from the Citizenry. No, idea about Kav. Didn't read his post. Not sure why you provided any insight into it. I didn't reference it. Harm = bad publicity. Yes, you can harm a corporation by your actions that brings about bad publicity. For example, bad publicity can lower your stock price and devalue your company.
  12. He has the right to express himself from Governmental interference. That's what freedom of speech is about. It isn't about an artist slipping in his own views into a comic publisher's product. That isn't a Right guaranteed in the Constitution. He did something that "harmed" another entity's product. That is why Marvel is allowed to discipline him for his actions.
  13. The responsibility lies with the artist AND all the people that signed off on the artwork after proofreading it. They missed it and are just as culpable in the situation. Is the artist going to be kicked to the curb or will they continue to use him? That will provide an answer about how Marvel views the situation.
  14. Thanks for providing proof to what I stated. It was political show. Being political can mean being partisan or it can mean being balanced. To me it means that.
  15. Yes, but Archie was a big Nixon supporter. While I know it was used as a foil; it was still political.
  16. Was All in the Family the exception to that rule?
  17. Which is fine. The buyer's premium you pay at HA is severe.
  18. Yet, his ASM pages sell and are snatched up when they come to market. To Uncle Ben's question - if you are a publisher, then it would be an artist that meets his/her deadline and doesn't want to be paid much per page or on the backside.
  19. Every time eBay makes changes to their discount people and businesses adapt to the new rules. What they lose in business or people selling on other platforms is more than made up by cutting the discounts to the new levels.
  20. The Walking Dead is about 100 issues behind Spawn. That's 8+ years of books behind McFarlane. Maybe it will happen but I doubt it.
  21. 1) Jim Lee - Influenced so many who came after him 2) Stephen Platt - far too short a time drawing books 3) George Perez 4) Tim Sale
