Finished reading through Cerebus #180.
60% through now...
Mothers & Daughters storyline is a welcome change with more action and pretty much a continuation of the themes from Church & State. I suppose I should wrap the art with story details in spoiler tags.
The occasional humorous Lord Julius (Groucho) appearances are always welcome.
The various threads of the long storyline are coming together for a conclusion.

Body Heat
It is a absolute classic noir film that is overlooked because of the sex and nudity. And it has a great scene with young Mickey Rourke as well.
RIP William Hurt

Finished reading through Cerebus #90.
30% through now...
Gerhard started doing the backgrounds with issue #64 and the art is beautiful.
The storyline can be a bit slow or hard to follow at times but I'm enjoying the journey.

Just finished reading Cerebus #60.
20% through now...
High Society was a fun story arc with my favorite characters being Lord Julius (spoof of Groucho Marx) and Duke Leonardi (Chico Marx) with some funny repartee back and forth.
I love cross-hatching and there's plenty of it in Dave Sim's Cerebus art.
There was an ad for a Near Mint Cerebus #1 for $225 in the back of Cerebus #46. Interesting that prices were so high way back in 1983. I need to find and look through my Overstreet #13 to see what else you could have bought for $225 in 1983...

I've been enjoying reading a lot of Cerebus. Just finished issue #30 which ended with a bang.
So I'm 10% through so far...
Love the art and storylines so far. It's interesting that Dave Sim had a plan to write Cerebus through to 2003 from early on. He mentions going to #156 in the letters page of issue #12 before it switched to monthly then to issue #300 in issue #19.

I was actually dreading this challenge throughout my vacation because I failed so spectacularly the last 2 years to accomplish reading an amount close to the goal.
That being said, I'm still gonna try...
1000 comics is a stretch goal for most of us, but if it gets you reading more and exploring new titles that's the important thing. No one is really keeping score.
SpoilerBut if they were, Scrooge would win.
Reminds of one of my favorite quotes from Animal House.
"Don't think of it as work. The whole point is just to enjoy yourself."

Not sure I'll be able to read 1000 comics this year. But I've never read Cerebus, so I've decided to start by reading the entire series from 1-300 this year.

I still have the print out of when the original art was up for auction on eBay in 2002.
Seemed like a fortune to me at the time.

I love The Goon. Here are a few favorites from my collection.
The only comic convention I've been to is Wizard World Chicago 2005 because I heard Eric Powell was going to be there. Talked to him for a bit and he signed my copy of Digital Webbing Presents.
Really need to buy some Goon art for my collection...
I bid on the psychic seal page back in the day and regretted not winning it
