Haha, I have a lot of downtime on this work trip!  I've been combing the archives to see what might be interesting to revisit.  I like this more than reading about how much money I could make off of some random issue because it has the first appearance of Jimmy Jabroni or Donny Ditchdigger.

Born in '83, and I was a TF and GI Joe kid.  I bought a raw GI Joe #1 for around $50ish in 2015.  Graded out to a 9.6, so pretty happy with it.  If I come across a 9.8 cheap, I would go for it.  Wild, because no one cared about TF and GI Joe for a long time.  It was all Image and mutants from what I remember in the 90s.  Considering many of the people who grew up with that stuff would have more disposable income as they have aged and progressed in their careers, it makes some sense that the values have risen on some of these books.  I'm going to put together a Canadian price variant run of TF #1-19, but not in any hurry until I finish off some other runs.

@Tghutcn sweet books!  I'm working an X-Men pence set now.  I have 16 issues left to get.  My earliest is #4.  #1 is probably a pipe dream at this point but never say never.

I'm sure they would fix it.  CGC fixed a label error free of charge for me on a book I had graded a few years back.  I will always say their customer service has been top notch whenever I needed them.

I don't know how consistent CGC is with labelling UK Price Variants properly.  I received an Iron Man #100 UKPV with UK Edition on the label in the spring.  

I was a kid when the series was really going on.  I do remember reading the issues my brother had and thought it was really cool.  Definitely much more gritty than the usual superhero fare I looked at when I was a kid.  I recently completed the #1-84 run with the intention to sit down and read the whole series.  I gained an interest when I found an old box of my dad's that contained his Purple Heart medal, and photos of him and his buddies in Vietnam.  He never really talked much about the bad stuff that happened there but he has been more open about some it after I went into the military.  From what I read over the years, it seems like a series that would be perfect for being adapted into a show although I think most of the series isn't in any demand.  It took some real effort to complete the run.

I paid $300ish a few years back for a 9.8 when I had stupid amounts of deployment money in my bank account.  Just reading through some old threads, so hindsight is 20/20.  After several films since 1986, I'm still struggling to see this book as a $3000 book in 9.8.  GI Joe #1 too.  Nostalgia can be a powerful motivator.

Some people pay a premium for a distribution method.  I admit to paying more for Marvel UK price variants.  I rarely go out of my way for newsstands.  Some people are all about it, some are not.  For my collection, it really doesn't matter if I have a direct or newsstand.  Except for ASM 328.  I want a 9.8 newsstand of that because it was the first comic I ever read.  

I put together Byrne's FF run a few years ago but haven't sat down to read it.  I was able to do it for dirt cheap which was nice because some of the issues seemed to have started an upward tend.  I surprisingly didn't read much of the FF from the copper age outside of a few issues that tied in with The Thing solo series or other crossovers.  Reading through this thread, I think I need to move the Byrne run closer to the top of my read list.  

Maybe they were only distributed in Ottawa where the US DoD has a personnel exchange program with the Canadians.  

I have the entire run and intend to sit down and read it at some point.  I know I actively stopped buying new issues a little at or a little after #400.  It just wasn't resonating with me, but even before that it was getting a little boring for me.  Maybe because I was in high school and girls were more interesting to me than comics.  When I was a kid in the 90s, I picked up back issues when I could.  I used Wizard to see what issues might of interest since the internet wasn't a thing in my home until 1999.  Anyways, I remember enjoying a lot of the stuff in the 80s and into the 90s.  I thought the AOA was an interesting change of pace, and will go back and reread it eventually.  I want to say the whole Onslaught thing was kind of my jumping off point.  I just went through the motions of spending dishwashing and grass cutting money on these things and for what?  To buy a storyline that spanned every issue of every Marvel title ever at that point.  No thanks.  A couple years ago, I did read Fall of the Mutants, Fatal Attractions, and Mutant Massacre trades complete with tie-in stories.  I enjoyed them minus the New Mutants portion of Fall of the Mutants.  I feel it's like anything else.  When you get the highlights, then the rest can feel like .  I also despised Romita Jr's run on UXM in the 300s.  But too many subplots that were never resolved or that had the seeds sown like 100 issues prior made it tough to keep up or care at times.  It just became jumbled to read.  

When I was stationed at Pearl, I used to frequent Other Realms in Honolulu.  It had a good selection of new issues and a decent selection of back issues.  

I ended up with this bad boy a few days ago.  I'll get it framed eventually.

Always cool to see the old posters get a good home!  Some of the stores I frequent wish that they could get more promo posters but they aren't sure if Marvel, DC, etc still distribute them out to the stores.  So, I'll still see old Onslaught or Civil War posters up in shops, but not usually newer stuff or I don't notice the new stuff.

@ADAMANTIUM First off, happy birthday!

And, yes, the acolytes started a strong run of v2 #1-3, but like everything else it just petered out.  Admittedly I love the X-Men from the 80s until the late 90s/early 00s, but it was a continuity trainwreck for quite some time.  Claremont liked to drop new plot threads into stories, but then those points would get buried and then resurface a couple years later.  Very convoluted, but I still love that stuff lol!

Hiding out in plain sight at the LCS so I'm giving it a good home.

Some that are close to perfection : The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Once Upon a Time in the West, Godfather part 2, Predator, Die Hard, Terminator 2, Casablanca, Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Some of the comic ones: Spider-Man 2, Logan, Winter Soldier, Iron Man, Dark Knight, Infinity War & Endgame

There're others for sure.  

Up until a few years ago it wasn't terrible with his "codeword" deals going on.  I filled several runs of FF, Alpha Flight, Excalibur, and a few others for dirt cheap over the last few years.  I went on the site to check some stuff a week or so ago and the pricing was so far off the rails it wouldn't even make sense with a 75% off codeword sale.  Unfortunate, as I used to order a bit from MH back in the 90s and early 00s.  MCS has kinda been my go-to for back issues now if I can't find what I'm looking for locally.  

Just completed The 'Nam last week.  The later run issues were a little more difficult to find in high grade.  Almost done with What If v1 and 2.

True story.  My 9.6 I found raw and it was a wall book.  My reader was definitely not.  I did see a NM newsstand copy of it at the LCS, but decided to pass at the time.  It was gone the next week.  Should have pulled the trigger.  Lesson learned.

I'm fairly sure it went on for years after that too...

Marvel dropped the CCA in 2001 though some specific issues or titles did not carry it when it was a thing.
