  1. I'm guessing he died still owing Ms Bails her money. Sorry for those of you who lost a friend, all I see is the loss of a fraud.
  2. Want to ask Daniel Warren Johnson anything? https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/1boc5vb/im_daniel_warren_johnson_writerartist_of/
  3. That one shocked me. I guess because they can't use all the other Image heroes and Brit etc for upcoming arcs? I don't know, just spitballing. Either way, it got me, and I thought it was great that it's making its own mark compared to the comics. (Pun intentional on 'making its own Mark').
  4. Some say the girl is drawn by Picasso (didn't we have a bad panel thread? Anyone know where it is, as I couldn't find it?)
  5. It's horrible. I just want to build a basic JLA and get the few JSA figures they've done. It's hell. Why? I can't tell you. Lots of exclusives, to this American retailer or his online store etc. Thered regular, Gold Label, Platinum, it just goes on. Want to preorder? Hope you did within the first 5 minutes or you're too late. No toys for you. Seriously. It's NOT a collector friendly line. My advice would be to avoid it. I'm getting a few figures then dipping out asap. For my own sanity.
  6. I've been wanting the McFarlane chase Platinum Hawkman for my collection, but it's selling for $150 over here, and I'm not paying that, that's ridiculous. So I did the stupid, and took a gamble and bought one from Popcultcha, where you just buy the Zero Hour Hawkman, and if you're extremely lucky you get the Platinum chase. Worst case, I have to deal with the ugly Zero Hour Hawkman, which I was ready for. I was home in Brisbane for a few days. The package arrived at my mother's. My mother opened it for me, and I asked if it had orange parts. She told me it had green pants. Well damn, that's the regular, just as odds would say. I'm stuck with Zero Hour. Oh well. Just to be sure I asked her to send me a photo. This is what she sent me. It's the Platinum chase I was after!!! I was so happy I nearly jumped off my chair. I couldn't believe my luck, and still can't. My view hasn't changed, that this is a horrible way for McFarlane to sell his figures, but at least I got a character I've been wanting for my display. It made my day. So there you go. The impossible can happen. I can have good luck!
  7. Damn. Reach could have been its own season, and it would have been awesome. Throw in some Noble Squad appearances, boom! Fan favourite, all sins forgiven.
  8. Omg I need to watch this. I have season 1 on Bluray, but have been putting it off because everyone's told me it's terrible, but I'd love to see a live-action Fall Of Reach. Was that the whole season? Were there cameos by Noble Squadron? I'd love to have seen a live-action Carter, more than anything (Halo wise).
  9. Skybound Transformers #1-6. With the whole first arc out now I got to read it as it's meant to be read, as one story. It's magnificent, containing it all: thrills, spills, love, pathos, loss, the full gamut of human emotions... by robot cars that talk? Luckily it all works well and the story is wonderful, with killer art, both by Daniel Warren Johnson. And hey, even better, bonus in #6, I had a letter printed. Something I've never tried to do to a publication of any sort before, but I tried for 3 issues of Transformers, and they picked my 2nd letter for issue 6. To say I was excited was an understatement. Does anyone know when I collect my Eisner? Green Lantern by Geoff Johns omnibus volume 3:-Okay, so, we're off to a weak start here, with a story about the entities that just didn't resonate with me. I was starting to think I was right to drop the book after Blackest Night all those years ago. But then it improved, and overall Iiked the book as a whole, just had a weak start. Though reading it now, Simon Baz and his origin etc just doesn't come across well. Too cartoonist to be taken seriously, and it is a VERY serious matter. Funny how things are. I enjoyed Volthoom, and the revelation about the Indigo Tribe's members and who and what they really are shocked me. Well played there, Mr Johns. So overall an enjoyable experience. On to- Green Lantern: Circle Of Fire tpb, for some old fashioned Kyle Rayner goodness, then either Green Lantern Corps omnibus volume 1 or Aquaman omnibus by Geoff Johns. Haven't decided yet. I may be all Lanterned out for a bit. I'm now at 635 books for the year. Hope everyone else is having fun and going hard!
  10. No no no, it's BANANA for scale, not apple. Get it right, people!
  11. Oh nevermind, it's just in alphabetical order.
  12. You'd think it'd be Jim Lee. I signed up to the Byrne boards around 2005ish, and just joined in on conversations. He has a thing about needing to use your real name, and I didn't want anyone searching my real name and connecting me to comics (I was young and stupid, what can I say?) so I used a fake name. Fake, but plausible, and close to real. My love for Byrne was primarily his legendary Uncanny X-Men run. I didn't like his Fantastic Four work, funnily enough, despite being a huge FF fan, something about it just doesn't work for me, but of course I'd never say that, I'd never be rude to him directly, that'd be crass. Anyway a discussion was going about something, and the topic got to comparisons between his current work (which I think might have been Doom Patrol at the time, MIGHT have been) vs his old stuff like X-Men. He declared that NO FAN of his prefers his X-Men work to his current work. I politely posted and said that actually, i do prefer the old work, and gave my reasons to back up my case. BAM! INSTABAN!! Followed by mocking from both Byrne and other posters how I was just a troll, how I was never even a Byrne fan. That really put me off the guy. That plus his later comments which we've all heard really soured me on him, and his attitude on the forum was later absolutely atrocious towards others. So the only Byrne work I buy is his X-Men work, and West Coast Avengers, which is for completion, I don't like the story. I prefer a Vision with feelings, and feel he really did the character wrong, misunderstanding them. Oh, and the first Hellboy story, which he did dialogue for. I'm not that big into Hellboy yet though. I need to read some more as it hasn't grabbed me yet. His work on Uncanny X-Men is incredible. Those pencils are so beautiful. The story they told so intense. Just wow. But otherwise, no thanks.
  13. Yeah, it was weird. Plus how the Matrix got that big that quickly.
  14. Got my copy of Transformers #6 today and my letter to them got published! My first ever. How cool!
  15. I received my month's comics today, and read Transformers #1-5 in preparation for #6. When I opened #6 something in my gut told me to check the letters page first, and lo and behold, I'd been published! After trying for 4 issues they finally published one of my letters, the first time I've ever been published like that, but also the only time I've ever tried. Fun stuff. Now to enjoy the actual issue!
  16. I don't know if it was said in the episode, I thought it was, but I may be getting my wires crossed from the comic, but the invasion won't be happening for some time, 100 years I believe. So they've got time. As for Eve, I believe what you're asking of her is simply too big for her to do considering how her powers work. I don't think she could do it. Just my conjecture. Plus for her to do that would take all her energy, meaning she'd have no way of keeping up her protective suit. She'd have no oxygen. She'd have died.
  17. You can send it in but it'll only get a green Qualified label, with something like "Text written on front cover". It won't be the same thing as having as authenticated signed issue. For that there's a whole special procedure to follow, which gives you a yellow label.
  18. I think you've posted some of the wrong pics, mate. Bottom two appear to be the backing boards?
  19. Yeah I actually genuinely thought "oh wow they've changed things, she's okay." then a moment later "Okay, no to that".
  20. Tahmoh Penikett = Helo on Battlestar Galactica, and also a good friend of hers.
  21. I betcha that's Tahmoh Penikett's hat she's wearing. When I met them both he was wearing that exact same hat.
