Oh oh the trolls are out. What exactly have you done to help the situation. I'm gonna guess you aren't even from Toronto or been to Paradise. Just searching the cgc boards for people to troll. Your type is exactly the reason I have never used message boards.  I gave advice, some people have listened and they're getting their books back. I removed a review from Facebook which lost 10 billion in value this week that people are jumping like its the titanic. Where's your bad Paradise review? Oh I think your mom just called down to the basement. Dinner is ready.  Woddle up little man and don't forget to clean your room. Lame....:baiting:

You caved unnecessarily and without concern for others who might be screwed by Paradise in the future. You effectively (to take it to an extreme, admittedly) sold them out just so you could get your own book back, screw the other guys who'll get baited. People need to know about this, but you're right, we can't do much, it has to be customers giving this feedback publicly. Customers like.... oh, YOU!

Not cool. Not good for the comics community.

    *shrugs*

    Sorry, but that's my opinion.

  2. Yes, I expect them bagged and boarded. Hell, I've bought actual drek and it's pretty much always still arrived bagged and boarded, or at least bagged.

Paradoxically, even though I expect it to arrive like that, I'll never keep it in those bags and boards. I'll immediately switch to my own, or group them together in a silver age bag if it's a common run I've bought strictly for reading.

Heard about this specific CGC forum through someone at Toronto Comic Con having similiar issues.  I only jumped on this forum to give advice and allow other to follow my issues. I raised hell to get priority at Paradise and get my book found. It was literally not in CGC's records. Still don't have all the details as to what happened and probably never will.  CGC gives limited info on others accounts.  I promised Peter and his wife I'd remove my negative facebook feedback once this was resolved. So I held up my end and just deleted it. Others here may not agreewith it but I keep my word. Anyways my issues are resolved so I'm out of here.

Way to have standards. Removing the feedback just means he gets to do it again to another poor sucker. You could have helped prevent that by leaving your post up, but you caved for no reason. Pathetic.

    Enjoy your comic.

  4. I recall reading him saying he really enjoyed the 'new' style. I'll have to see if I can find the interview where Trimpe said that.

    Edit: got it. https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.cbr.com/comic-book-legends-revealed-195/amp/

’ve been asked that question before, with some fans going so far as to feel sorry for the way Marvel made me change my style. Unfortunately, these were misdirected sympathies.

Truth was, it was a lark–but a lark with a purpose, all devised by myself. No one at Marvel suggested I change the way I draw or ink. I looked at the new guys’ stuff, and thought, hey, this is great. Very exciting. You can always learn from somebody else, no matter how long you’ve been doing a thing.

I did, however, think the style might lead to new work at a time when Marvel was already in trouble, and it did. FF Unlimited was my last series at Marvel, and contrary to what a lot of fans think, I think it was the best work I’d done–and, I had a whole lot of fun doing it. Very expressive. I think the newer influences in comic book art brought out a better me. Like I said, most of the fans of the earlier stuff would not agree. On one occasion, I inked a whole story with a brush, which is what I was raised on, and the editor objected asking me not to do that anymore. But in general, no one pressured me into a change.

Drat. I'd love to see a 'new' ASM AUS. It seems my research was too good! :insane:

Thanks for looking though. Not sure why you got a DE from a newsstand. Did Australian comic shops not get Directs?

At that time, I'm not sure. I think they would have, as I had one comic shop a few hours from me, when I was a kid. I occasionally got to go there, and stock up on Fantastic Four comics (that's the comic I was mad on, go figure). The benefit of buying from the comic shop was that they were 3 months ahead of where the newsagents were, ie if I picked up #390 at the newsagent it meant that the comic shop would have #393.

For a solid answer I'd have to look through my old FFs, as they are a mixture of newsstand and the occasional comic shop purchase from the time.

  6. It's just got such heavy baggage due to the original 90's material, but this is a complete night-and-day from that. Hell, people complain about decompression and writing for the trade, and how you don't get runs like Claremont's Uncanny anymore where plots can simmer: this book does that! We're seeing things in #8 that link back to something first seen offhand in #2, for example. It's taking a longer term approach with the writing, it's fresh, now it just needs some support to help everything see to fruition.

  7. I've actually also started getting some of the variants, again just for the fun of it. I was able to get the foil-stamped Retailer's Edition of #1 for only $12AU, including shipping, iirc. Seemed an appropriate thing to have, given the series' roots in the Chromium Age.

I will say the series is getting better with each issue now, yet I still find myself nervous at the thought that Liefeld will pull the plug on it at any random moment. I'd genuinely hate to lose this book.

A time travelling, dimension raveling, spaghetti plotting X-Men story decades in the running is convoluted?  Say it ain't so  :(

I love my X-Men, but ya good grief at this plot pretzeling.  I also have an X-Men 205 that I reckon I'll sell now. snort

It's criminal what this storyline did to Bishop. Just terrible. Thank gods it seems to have been subtly retconned for the most part. A bit of a 'we don't talk about that in these here parts', and all the physical damage was undone too.
