Some of the Eerie Publication original covers are in private collections.  The interiors though I have not seen necessarily.  Often times the AJAX/Farrell Pre-Code Stories (most often used) were doctored up a bit to add more ghoulishness and gore. A lot of paste-up's were done.  Some I believe are straight re-prints.

Heritage auctioned off a handful of complete stories in the early 2000s but I haven’t seen any since.

  2. One of my favorite non-mythos short stories of HPL’s is “The Picture in the House”. I recently acquired the page that the narrator describes in the story. From Regnum Congo, this page is from the second German printing in 1609 with the illustration by Theodor de Bry. The speculation is that Lovecraft didn’t read the original, but rather the picture and description of it in Thomas Huxley's Evidence as to Man's Place in Nature. Either way, the illustration of the “cannibal market” is pretty graphic.

Finally in today.  If this is what the seller considers fair/ good I'll take all they've got, looks closer to a VG to me.  On the pricing front, there's an 8.0 on the bay right now for $595 BIN... I wonder how long that will last.

I would have found one that was just the Road Runner credits, but this is the version I grew up with.

That 8.0 must not have lasted long-I can’t find it (or I’d have bought it!)

Finally, a strong price for a copy of Hit 1 even though we should not be comparing a pedigree book against a non-pedigree book.  Especially when you are talking about one of the long time established GA pedigrees like the Denver pedigree.  (shrug)

Then again, I've always felt that Hit 1, similar to National 7, has been a much underappreciated and seemingly almost forgotten Fine book when compared to some of his other more higher recognized classic cover books.  Absolutely loved the detailed artwork on this gorgeous red cover and from my own personal POV, stands up with Fine's other classic cover books from his much more higher profile earlier Fox time period run:  :luhv:  :cloud9:

Very strong finish on this one, and it’s on my short list for books to pick up in the next year or so (but even my short list is a big list, lol).

That seems to be common. The graders' notes are not all inclusive.

I had always thought that they would note rust on the staples—they used to note that on the label!—but apparently they don't do so consistently because I've seen quite a few books lately with noticeable staple rust and no mention of it in the notes.

I'm noticing more and more books with rusty staples. I'm wondering whether books that were pressed 12 or 13 years ago now have rusty staples because of the humidity that the books were exposed to during the pressing process. The humidity could be a catalyst for the rust to start. It could also just be because the books are getting older and time is taking its toll.

The staple rust could also be a by-product of the storage of slabbed books. I’m not sure how many collectors are aware of the staple rust issue involved with  certain fireproof safes.
