  1. Overall I like BKV, personally think that Y and the initial Runaways series are some of the best comics to come out in the last 20 years. I am reading Saga but am still somewhat indifferent on it. Like I said just started Paper Girls last night, and not sure what I think yet. The only variant I know of for a BKV book is the first issue of Saga, but I know his TPB do extremely well. Another thing that is frustrating at times, but I overall appreciate is sticking with one artist for the entire run. Gives a level of consistency that is rarely seen anymore.
  2. Does that mean it is not that popular, or has it been a conscious decision? I just started the series last night, so I have to digest it a little more, before passing judgment.
  3. That's a beautiful copy of Torchy! The pirate has a very happy sword. She would have made an outstanding villainess. I love how subtly the cover is!!
  4. These are Man of Steel's numbers. Well short of 1 bil. I think BvS is going to have a tough hill to climb. Domestic: $291,045,518 43.6% + Foreign: $377,000,000 56.4% = Worldwide: $668,045,518 If BvS keeps the same percentages as MoS for the divide between domestic and Foreign that give you these numbers.... Gives you $872 mil worldwide. Domestic = $380 mil. Foreign = $492 mil. So it is already pegged as outperforming MoS in the estimates, but if the domestic holds at that 380 number, it must increase its foreign percentage to make it. So 1 bil based on the projections and MoS performance is going to make it hard.
  5. While good numbers, this has to be disappointing to WB if the projections hold. They are also saying $380 domestic Box Office. That will mean BvS will struggle to get to 1 bil worldwide.
  6. Also if you have done con submissions (especially if you do not have an account), you will get zero communication from CGC. The only way to get progress is by phoning or e-mail. There is no way to link invoices to an account if it is not done from the start.
  7. Aren't they technically considered the same tier? Prescreens take longer from the RECEIPT DATE. Not to be confused with the date you sent them in. Moderns normally are 3-4 weeks faster than Pre-Screen Moderns. So yes technically they are the same but signature series are likely treated slightly different than moderns (just like pre-screens are) so just curious if there is much of a change in pace from a PS to a SS. Jeff Bother were RECEIVED by CGC and put into their system on Dec10th. I did 3 submissions at NYCC. Two were SS and one normal. I got three packages back three days in a row from CGC, SS, normal, then SS. So there seems to be no difference.
  8. Good lord, figure this out. CEOs don't care about "racial pressure", political correctness or whatever... the thing that makes them make executive edicts is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. (and if you hear one saying that a decision is being made in response to racial pressure, its only if they also know it will make them money) Last year on tv, one of the biggest booms was Empire, and it showed decision makers at the studios that there is an underserved audience. So you know what every executive is saying this year? "We need an Empire" or "Empire made good bank, lets get more black people on our show to try and get some of that audience, and thus increase our share, which then increases our ad revenue, which increases my bonus!" Why is Marvel increasing the prominence of female characters? Is it just bending to the PC police? Nope. Its marketing consultants telling the COO that theres a huge untapped market of female readers (just as empire tapped into underserved black viewers), who are more likely to respond to female lead characters, and thus we get an emphasis, or an evening of emphasis between the male and female characters Excellent post. I will second that. To be honest, I am really liking the modest change in tone and story telling that is coming with some of these changes. I personally wish these were original characters rather then replacing established ones. When you re-use big names it seems much more like pandering.
  9. Meaning the true Harley keys.... Batman Adventures 12 Batman Harley Quinn nn Are safe. What about some of the other early Harley stuff like Mad Love, and Batman: Harley and Ivy. Not keys in the same way, by were key in establishing the character outside of her relationship with Joker. I would say a lot of the early Harley appearances are undervalued like that Batman Gallery book that predates the Batman Harley Quinn nn. In a lot of ways she is like Deadpool in that her early appearances are now being gobbled up probably because she didn't suffer from overexposure early on. she didn't suffer from overexposure early on Hilarious. She had roughly 20 appearances from her creation to 2000 as an animated character in comics and around 6 appearances in the DC universe from her intro in the Batman Harley Quinn to 2000. She may have been popular for a multitude of reasons but as I said she did not suffer from overexposure early on. Good to know. Thank you. It means most of those early appearances (before 2000) should maintain solid value, 20 appearances in 6 or 7 years is next to nothing. Title characters are in books every month (and if you are Batman multiple books), and nobody complains. For now she is an A list character.
  10. All my NYCC submissions are now officially back. For what is is worth 3 = 9.8, 5 = 9.6, 7 = 9.4, 1 = 9.2, 1 = 8.5, 1 = 7.5, and 2 = 7.0. Two have me scratching my head in a bad way, and 3 are better than I expected. Despite kicking myself, and being disappointed on the two a did not get what I expected, I think the grades are fair.
  11. Prices do waiver, but it is too early to call it a crash. I bet there will still be a movie bump. As for it being a key you have a great argument it is not. It is an out of continuity appearance in a kid targeted comic based on an animated series. Batman HQ is the first canon appearance, so there is a valid argument that book is more important as a key. I still can't see BA 12 cgc 9.8 being worth zero. Heck, some insufficiently_thoughtful_person payed like 10k for Walking Dead 1 a few years back, we will never see that number again, but it is a $2500 book and very stable at that price.

  13. Yes Campbell is a variant mill at this point. From a value standpoint though, the official Marvel variants are the ones that potentially count.
  14. If you think it's "vastly overpriced" and will only get worse, why would you sell now? I think he meant we will see a peak a few weeks before the movie followed by a crash. I am not sure there will be a crash though, based on how the movie does. The character has grown to great popularity without any mainstream exposure (unless you count animated which is old at this point), so I would not bet on the typical movie bump and dump. If anything DC will kill the cash cow by overexposure in the DCU separate from the live action. But DC has been pimping Batman out in spades for decades and it has never diminished his popularity. Harley like it or not is likely here to stay.
  15. Hope so. I just got my Suicide Squad 1 (11/11) back from CGC at a 9.6, the now classic Batman Harley Quinn #nn 1st print at 9.8, and I have the first run HQ #1 singed by Dodson on its way back from CGC. What is it about SS #6 and #7 that get a premium? What about the Gothem City Sirens #1? Suicide Squad is her origin story, (3rd one for new 52), as well as Detective 23.2 and secret origins. Everything Harley is vastly overpriced already, and only going to get worse before it crashes. Sell Sell Sell IMO. I will likely sell the SS stuff (not really a version of HQ I like in those books), and I do see the new 52 HQ stuff crashing at some point. I doubt the Batman HQ #nn will ever crash.
  16. I have the full run read once by me then bagged and boarded. Issue #1 in 9.6 seems to run around $125. I think it is undervalued. To me Timm and Dodson are the definitive HQ especially when it comes to the original costume. My copy has a chance at a 9.6, but I kinda think it will end up a 9.4. I also am starting to see HQ's first two Batman appearances (2nd and 3rd in mainstream DCU) going up.

  18. Second batch back from NYCC submission today. One more to go, hopefully tomorrow. So the turn around time for me was about 3 months. Better than the 4 advertised, and the early February I was told 4 weeks ago.
  19. My lucky week!!! More issues back today, and hopefully my last NYCC will be in tomorrow. I did hit the 9.8 jackpot for one (a good one to hit), yeah!!!! Did get severely nicked on one also, I will keep that to myself. Now the big winner (likely of all my NYCC submissions)!!!
  20. Mine were marked as received a few days ahead of yours. I am hoping my other 2 invoices are here within the week.
  21. So, as soon as we know the season 2 release date, time to sell about 1 week before that.
  22. Only my second CGC submission ever, all from my personal collection. By no means perfect, but overall not bad.
