  1. An under appreciated book. 1st Norman Osborne. He's no Green Goblin, but...
  2. I have a similar mindset to the above few posts. I have only been hitting the Silver Age ASM's hard for the last couple years (kids are grown, and my money is mine again!). I have accepted that buying a graded book gives me peace of mind, and that I have to pay more for it. I have more raws than graded, but I find myself looking for graded now, more and more. I was really tempted on the graded ASM lot that Omaha CGC just had up but my wife was in my head too much.
  3. Phew! I was getting twitchy on those and my wife was getting nervous.
  4. CGC graded. The redeeming factor is that the cover, other than the small missing piece, has the general appeal of a 6.0, so I guess that makes up for it. Maybe I am focusing too much on the piece and the back cover stain and not enough on the rest.
  5. I agree, but sometimes I am able to get over it if the right book comes along.
  6. Overvalued translates to overpriced by how much? Would you estimate 20%? If so, a $400 book would be about $80 higher than it should be. Still not that bad. If you are talking 50% or more, that adds up...but the highest bumps would occur in the high grades, which I don't get to much. I was thinking 4.0 myself for the lower end, until I opened my ASM 11 (4.5) that showed up yesterday. If this book is typical of 4.5's then 4.0 is the lowest I would go for sure. The 4.5 has a bit of a water stain on the back, and a small piece out of the front at the top left corner. It almost looks overgraded.
  7. For me, it's more about cost. I have a comfort zone, price wise, and try to hit that when I look for a book. I would love to have a 8.0 ASM 20, but it is way outside of my zone. I think I will end up with a 4.0 - 5.0 when I get one. Contrarily, I have a nice 8.0 ASM 44 that I got for a nice price. I love the Lizard sewer cover (and it's his 2nd appearance) . The lower I go in issue number, the lower I will have to go in grade, until the grade is below my appeal.
  8. Wow, those high grade Spideys are killing me. I'm a mid grade slab collector so far. My lowest ish is # 11 (4.5) which I picked up from a recent thread.
