  1. And, it is up over $100 with 2 days to go. He really put some effort into that listing.
  2. I have received several slabs that are wrapped and put into a medium flat rate box and then that is put into a large flat rate box. Seemed to work great. I have learned a lot about shipping slabs from this site. And, once the price gets over a certain amount (insert your amount), an extra $5 or $7 doesn't seem to matter in the long run as long as it gets there safe and sound. I have also received slabs in bubble envelopes, and in good condition, but that seems like a carp shoot.
  3. Is it OK to ask if you had it pressed? Not that it seemed to need it, but wondering if you got a bump from it.
  4. Your continual insistence on hinging your entire argument on the seller's use of the word "nice" is bringing you down. It is clear to see that this book is a mess. If the seller had used the word "mint" and posted the same pictures, would you have bought it, also, and expected a better book?
  5. There was a point in between where the paper was still matte, but thicker than old school comics. I think it was in the early 90's. It held the color better but was not shiny. I liked it a lot. I don't think they are going to fix this industry by cheapening out on the paper. It is in a very real transitional era and in the end, I just think there will be fewer books on the shelves.
  6. I would like to think there is some type of contraction on the horizon, but I think of the Creation fan shows. They do Trek, Supernatural, and other shows. They keep churning them out and fans keep going...and going, and going. I am guilty also. Been to Vegas Trek several times. Same celebs, charging the same, and sometimes more per signature and photo op. Always well attended, and the tickets are not cheap. Saturation is their business model.
  7. I signed up and played around with it for a while but I didn't find the site that mobile friendly. Before I form a solid opinion, I will dope around with my home computer and see how that works. If nothing else, I will become aware of more art sites.
  8. Spidey - cuz I love him 62 - my birth year (it's hard to find common names without some kind of differentiator these days), and I messed up with the space. Avatar - from a sketch card I have, drawn by Jim Cheung
  9. But he doesn't have to do it. He could choose to do only a couple hundred a day for the weekend, and try to take a little time. I get that his eyesight is bad now, but he has been churning out these sigs for 20 years. It's like Shatner.
  10. I have only been to 1 Wizard show. It was on the pier in NY 6 or so years ago. It wasn't bad, but not an extravaganza in any way. Local shows in and around Massachusetts have seen a decline. The contraction after the expansion.
  11. I bought 9 .10 and .12 cent Batman and Detective comics from the current thread. They were well packaged and arrived quickly. The books were as described and a great deal.
  12. Ooooooooh, that can get expensive. I have a bunch of lesser valued pages but it's harder and harder to keep the purchase prices down.
  13. My boys and I were into baseball cards for a few years, as well as a guy from work and I. We fell out of it mostly due to the over production. Every year there would be more and more sets, and super premium cards. It was tough to find where to spend our money. Now, I will search eBay for auto/game used cards of my favorite players. Wow, good for you. I have thought about that briefly, but we can't wrap ourselves around it enough to commit. I was big into action figures for awhile. Star Trek, Simpsons, Marvel Legends, and others. As the prices went up, I drifted out. I will probably donate most of my stuff to the local Shriner's hospital when I retire.
  14. I had a package sent to me, and it showed delivered. It never was. I live 100 feet off the road, on a main road. It was not taken. It never made it to my porch. The post office said the would look into it and get back to me. They never did. My point is that packages get lost, or even stolen by whoever. As long as the post office can make a case that it was delivered, how can you fight them? Unless you have cameras showing the time and date. I only lost 70 dollars worth of comics, so I can eat that. But it let me know that priority insurance is kinda bullcarp.
  15. For me it's ASM slabs. I am only a recent slab collector and the issues that are on my radar are #13 (1st mysterio), #20 (1st scorpion), and of course #50. They are doable in the mid grades that I collect, but I just can't seem to let go of the money. My wife is always in my head.
  16. Any chance you will be taking payment and shipping books before the end? Or is this a sell all, then ship kind of thing.
  17. Really nice. Hard to believe that the second appearance is 38 issues away, and with a bit of fine tuning to Lizards look.
  18. My first Batman 10 center. Detective 282. Cool cover. I picked it up in Boarderline Hoarder's thread recently. I also got in on some 10 center Detectives and Batmans in Solar Boy's biiiiiig thread and I will be getting those at some point.
  19. Batman #146--5.5 or better--Gorgeous purple, date on inside cover in pen--Asking $40 Tec #324--Copy C--6.0-- small writing on back of this back cover too--$20 @40% off
