  1. Received my slabbed ASM 25 from Rick. Great communication and quick shipping.
  2. Ultra pro has rigid, magnetic, comic holder slabs for about $10 (probably not news here) but I have only seen them for current size books. Seems like what you are talking about sans the cgc interaction.

  4. Yes, it has been a strange summer. Not hot, wetter than usual. I haven't missed a Boston show in years, but I am not going this year. Saving my money for Terrificon next week.
  5. If they want to send me a blank $340 money order, I am cool with that.
  6. Well, the money order never got to clink. I repaid via credit card and and have since received the books. So now I have to wrestle with moneygram for a refund. Best case - I'm pretty even and I have the books. Worst case - I have the books and I am into them for $680 instead of $340.
  7. Spoke to Sue at ComicLink today...still no money order. She was very nice and seemed genuinely helpful. She gave me some insight into the process and it is more than just an amount matching thing. She said there is usually some scanning of the items sent (envelope, invoice, etc) to be sent along with the check/m.o. amount. She is working on it from her end and I think I will give it another week then begin the m.o. cancel process and pay by cc.
  8. I will, as soon as I have something solid to report. I am wondering how long I should wait before contacting them again.
  9. I am assuming they do what they do very well, but that seems like a flawed system. There would have to be more than just amount matching to confirm payment from a specific buyer.
  10. I mailed it to the po box. I put the order number on the money order also. I don't think they have a step by step system, where it would show payment received and such, which would be nice.
  11. I wasn't sure how the money order thing worked. I have never had a problem with them. Thanks for the replies, maybe I am just jumping the gun. Alot of you guy spend big money on books. I am treading lightly into the "higher value" (which is subjective to each person) comics and $350 still means something to me. In that regard, I am a newb.
  12. I mailed a money order (regular mail, regular envelope, several pieces of paper) payment for 2 slabs to CLink over a week ago. I emailed them yesterday to try to confirm they received the payment. They responded that they have yet to receive. My question is - what would be my recourse? It is certainly not CLink fault, and I didn't have any tracking on a regular mail envelope. If it doesn't show up, am I screwed? Pretty much, right?
  13. I won't disagree with the created part, but I think Romita had a better feel for the action and dynamics of the Spidey art.
  14. I was thinking 7.0 . 8.0 is pretty much out of the question I think.
  15. Couldn't that work for almost any sagging book? The trick is to find the right writer and artist at the right time, telling the right story. If that was easy, almost every book would be fighting for the top spot.
  16. Thanks for the advice. I only threw out the book value numbers because he asked specifically about it in a quick phone call. I am guessing he is at least generally aware of the values, but may have even gotten some lowball's already. Meeting with him Sunday.
  17. On a similar note - I am just starting negotiations on a small collection of supposedly 60's & 70's books. When asked what percentage off book I would be willing spend I threw out up to 50% of book value. My question is - where do you buyers like to be with a quality or at least semi quality collection, considering some to keep and some to hopefully flip?
