  1. The issue is people paying big bucks for convention sketches. Artists should charge what they can for sure but you can only go to the well so many times before it runs dry.
  2. A surprising number of collectors have been posting commissions of $2k, $3k or more and as nice as they look I don't understand paying that much for a commission. I was very happy with my $50 Risso headsketch and $100 Denis Kitchen piece in my sketchbook.
  3. It's better when you learn that group is bankrolled by one of the Getty oil heirs...can't make this stuff up.
  4. If any dealers are bringing a copy of the Joelle Jones variant for Batman Beyond The White Knight - Issue 4 to the show I'll be there on Friday to buy; I'm happy to pay for it now if that helps!
  5. I don't think I've bought more than a handful of items from dealers. My order seems to be; 1) artists 2) ebay 3) other collectors 4) reps
  6. With some of the bland, soulless art already in modern books it might be an improvement
  7. buyfromcomicartists.com is a directory of nearly every artist who has worked on major books who sells their art online. Worth a peruse if you're itching to spend money!
  8. Hi Stein, if I had a question would it be better to submit it here through a message or through your website's contact form? Thanks!
  9. You're nicer than I would be if someone was trying to steal from me
  10. Still on the hunt! Looking for pages 3, 4, 6, 10 and 19. Page 5 is on caf with another collector.
  11. I don't know how much it pertains to artists but that rule is why if you pre-order statues from Sideshow or other companies they need you to agree to extend the shipping time, it's also why in the last couple years thy've changed the expected shipping date from a month to a three month span. For years I would often cite that rule to get all my money back, including the non-refundable deposit, when statues would be delayed a long time. Reporting a legitimate business to a state's attorney general is significantly different than a self-employed artists.
  12. Agreed! I wish more people commented and liked posted art, or maybe I just have crappy taste with my collection haha.
  13. Both but I meant signatures. A surprising number of artists, unprompted, apologized for charging and said either their agent or other artists were pressuring them to charge more money. I saw Glenn Fabry a couple months ago and he said he didn't like charging but other artists get mad at him if he doesn't. I usually get anywhere from 6-10 sketches at a show and I got two plus a couple 5 min sketches. Some artists went from $10 to $20 per signature from a con in April to now and I saw one artist who I got a full figure sketch from in 2021 for $170 was now $400 for the same sketch. Artists/writers should definitely be getting paid for their signature but there should also be consideration for fans.
  14. Always a great show but the artist's signature prices are through the roof. I'll be getting less sketches than I ever have at a show
  15. I always enjoying when Marcus posts a comment on a new piece of mine. I think I have some unique pages and sometimes when I post I'm sure Marcus won't know about the book and a few hours later he'll post a really nice comment with some insight you'd only have if you read that story. One day I'll stump him!
  16. My favorite show of the year. I have my wheel cart ready to go much to the dismay of other aisle-walkers haha
  17. This one was just posted on CAF for sale https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1837571
  18. If there's a major published artist that sells their work online you can find them here https://www.buyfromcomicartists.com
  19. I'd be very weary of keeping anything valuable in a regular storage facility, (even climate controlled). There are always issues with pests, moisture and theft in these places, a quick google search will scare the out of you!
  20. We prefer that you call them "affordable" haha
  21. Thanks for replying and that was kind of my assumption. I'm always priced out anyways but every now and then I hold out hope haha. I do enjoy the art drops with the under $300 pieces though!
  22. Hi Felix, any chance you'd consider posting the prices in your commission opportunity emails? I feel like I'm being annoying when I email to ask what prices are; that's not based on your responses, you're always very nice and reply every time!
  23. For anyone looking to buy more art directly from artists nearly anyone you can think of who sells their art/commissions is here https://www.buyfromcomicartists.com
