  1. We may need a #2 club since it's also a tough book. It would be interesting to know how many surviving copies there are of it as well.
  2. I just ordered some but it just has that Forbidden Planet feel to it. Where u order something that they show "In Stock" and then two weeks later u find out they were "Out of Stock" It looks like the Life With Archie #23 afterlife variant is no longer in stock on the Archie website. It doesn't appear to be in any more collector bundles either. I've bought from their store for years. Their quantities usually seem to be pretty low as I've seen items go out of stock right after I bought copies.
  3. I just finished reading the Afterlife with Archie thread in modern. It sounds like Afterlife might be creating even more Archie fans. Maybe the increased interest in Archie books could drive such a boost to prices.
  4. Here are some new ones. I wrote off Ernie as a cheap Archie knockoff but the artwork is overall pretty great. A lot of the stories have Al Hartley signatures so his 1940's work had a pretty strong GGA flare. A nice G.I. Jane. and Feldstein's Corliss Archer
  5. I didn't even see that one. I have a few issues but not that one. The second I saw it was a Hitler cover, I figured it was a tough one to get. As if Jolly Jingles issues aren't hard enough to find as it is. Jolly Jingles 12 Yeah all I ever see is 15 and sometimes16, which I have along with all the others and all the Jackpot books. I was finally hoping to put this run to bed. I should have just put something insane in like $500. Was just pissed at myself. I've done my share of insane snipe bids for books I rarely see for sale. Luckily I've never had one actually close at too insane an amount.

  7. Those early Archie double splash pages were pretty spectacular! Too bad they didn't keep that up longer.
  8. Wow! That looks like artwork from the New Yorker rather than a Disney piece. Pretty cool!
  9. I was testing a new portable scanner this weekend. It gave me a chance to scan some more books. It worked fairly well. It's a usb powered LED scanner. I'm hoping that the portability will help me scan more of my collection for inventory purposes.
  10. Wow! You have "that" copy. I remember it being for auction some years back. It's got to be one of the nicest looking 4.0's around.
  11. Very nice! I especially like the Hedy although Dizzy Dames is always nice as well.
  12. That's a nice looking copy! What's it look like after liberation?
  13. They don't mention that it was trimmed to fit the bound volume and it doesn't appear to be trimmed as far as I can tell.
  14. I'm in. I think someone found my copy being used as insulation in a wall. But I'm happy to have it. I think that Mummy's Ring might be my next target for purchase although I really want The Sheriff of Bullet Valley as well.
  15. That's a really nice looking 5.5!
  16. Here's my only other recent Four Color addition. I've wanted an original copy of this book since 1975. Not high grade but it's in decent shape. I received this reprint for Christmas in 1975 along with the other three Best of Walt Disney books that were released in this series. Having the reprint always made me want an original. It's one of my favorite Duck covers. This is the original copy I received that Christmas. The four books were sent in an envelope together. I put the 4 comics in plastic bags and have kept them stored in the original mailing envelope since 1975. Too bad I didn't buy a bunch of Marvel keys like Hulk 181 during that time period and stick them in plastic.
  17. I just picked this up from Harley Yee at Comicpalooza in Houston. One of my few Duck Four Colors so far but it's one I've always wanted.
  18. Great looking copy!!! Has it been graded? Is this one of the other 7.0s? I bought it from Met over 10 years ago. It's not been graded but they listed it as 6.0 restored.
  19. Here's mine. It has moderate restoration although I don't know who did the work.
  20. I never read Lula as a kid. It was all Archie, Superman, Spider-man, Donald Duck as well as Howard. About 8 years ago, I got some Lulu's with a group of comics I bought and decided to read one before I got rid of them. That got me hooked. I'm definitely a Lulu convert.
  21. I bought this because it's a UK copy but it turned out to be better than my US so it's an upgrade also: This is something of an upgrade as well. I don't know what it is about late 1950's Archie's and water stains but it seems common. Water stains aside, it's very clean, flat, and glossy.
  22. Wow! You've been busy! That's also a tough issue of Comedy. Congratulations!
  23. I won a couple books from the seller a couple weeks ago. They were packed well but it appears that since they didn't have comic bags, each comic was placed in a separate manilla file folder. It did appear that they attempted to handle the books carefully.
  24. I always liked the cover of Katy Keene #1 but I was never able to get a nice copy of it. It also has a Woggon drawn appearance of Archie and the gang inside congratulating Katy on her new magazine. The best copy I managed to get was this severely moisture warped copy that had otherwise decent paper quality. After sending it to Matt Nelson, it went from this: to this: A lot of collectors may not like pressing but I like that it salvaged an otherwise hopeless looking book. I'll just have to live with the bug chew.
  25. :golfclap:Congratulations on Judy! Very nice book!
