  1. So, everyone who guessed 3.5 gets a couple of bonus points, yeah...? If Andy had added a note "gift grade" I would guess that half of us would have said to ourselves: well, gee, that means either a 3.5 or 4.0.
  2. I'll try a half-time recap since sckao must be very busy. Of the 110 still actively competing (8 haven't submitted in past 3 rounds, though that doesn't really mean they won't come back), this past round experienced a record-breaking 65 of the members seriously considering just dropping out from excessive bewilderment at how much to deduct for brittle pages and a broken insides. Reportedly member's stocks of scotch, bourbon, tequila and gin have all registered a 20% reduction in volume since the announcement of the Round 5 Results. Book #9 crushed a lot of hopes, and guesses ranged from the lowly PR 0.5 though VF/NM 9.0 with at least one WAG in every grade in between. Three veterans are now tied at first place with an incredible 40 pts (an average of only 1 grade off on every 2 books). ElrodAllWrong, KrytoMayor and Ron C (also alone at top of bulls-eyes board, with 8 bulls-eyes) - all now share the top spot. Also, Elrod has seven bulls, and a handful of players have a solid six bulls. But Azkaban and MediumLover are just a whisker away (in actual reality 2, and 4 points). And perennially top-ranked marmat, speekcake and Wipple are just another 2 pts behind MediumLover. So it's still a very tight pack at the top few percent (ain't it just the way of the world, no politics dammit). Just 10 of the 110 or so players achieved a double-bull this round. Some powerful moves up were the results of these climbers - Blowie (up 30), BriD. (up 30), Get Marwood (up 28), aszumilo (up 26), topoftheTotem (up 24), jevlnuts (up 21), and Sal (up 21),
  3. I have a stack for just that amigo. Last time was in 2001 (only submitted twice). Tell me - can I have them sent back to me directly (in the US) after grading, or must it take a 2-way trip to that wretched den of politeness to the North?
  4. I just sold a Conan 1 in 6.5 (raw) on shillbay a couple of weeks ago, damn if I shouldn't have sent it in for the slab.
  5. 7.5 !! Good golly miss molly. Was I low, 6.5 borderline 7.0. Meh.
  6. I agree it's a FN (maybe "plus" if flattened out), as long as the back cover is just regular dirt (whatever that is) or foxing/aging of paper, and not stains of some kind. CGC tends to hammer stains.
  7. I can't pretend to understand most of that. But are you basically using Excel and inserting into cell the cell address from another worksheet in the same file? So that your multiple pages with rankings all get their data from your primary page (the one that you enter all the scoring data into)? I know its a broken record, but thanks for all this work. Personally I didn't send my grades in yet because that Jumbo has me stumped and hoping for some divine intervention.
  8. Think that chip at the top and bending on back cover cap the grade at 5.0. With a good chance of just 4.5. : ( Love this book, Ditko's last work on the title, yet the first time Dr. Strange had a whole cover to himself.
  9. Yeah, krap just got real. This is gonna separate the men from the boys (and women from the girls). This will be an uphill battle. Gonna have to batten down the hatches. We're really behind the eight (8) ball. Feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place. Andy's opened up can of whoop . The grades are as clear as mud. They're a riddle wrapped up in an enigma. You can’t judge a book by its cover. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool that to speak and remove all doubt. A picture's worth a thousand words. Might as well take a shot in the dark. May have bitten off more than I can chew. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse. I know, I know, really fell apart at the end there.
  10. Nah, just a couple double-bulls, according to Shin a couple of pages ago. At least, back when the Spidey was thought to be a 5.5.
  11. 4 minutes ago, thirdgreenham said: I know it looks like a 4.0. But most of them have a lot of the same problems, like funky edge cut. This book is pretty wacked.
  12. Blew it. Damn. Had Spidey at 5.0 and dropped it for the back cover major crease.
  13. That would be the biggest change in policy since the Great Tape Abomination of 2014. I just made up the year, I have no idea when CGC changed policy on tape.
  14. 45 biggest drop on the leaderboard 12 biggest jump up on the leaderboard 6 oops.. I meant 2 tied for 1st place 1 total dbl-bulls (before the 2nd person submitted)
  15. Bummer, I'd have guessed 8.0. Usually when I'm wrong I guess low.
  16. My guesses as well Yeah, me three. Deducted too much for the tears at spine top (w chip) and bottom on the Golden Age. :doh!:
  17. well that doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy I'll bite. 36 - biggest change in leaderboard ranking 4 - total tied for 1st place after round 2 1 - total # of people who will correctly guess the other three numbers (no idea, really) 2 - total double-bulls this round
  18. Ok Sckao gave me a wtf?? Get your stories straight boys!! It's a proven fact that Andy play psych warfare with his choice of emojis. Jury is still out on Shin, who seem less Machiavellian but he might just be playing the long game to lull us into a false sense of security.
  19. How else to coerce Shin to change his mind and partner up on the contest one more time?
  20. Alternative policies: Accept checks only. Or offer only some other non paypal method - whether Square, venmo, or whatever alternate method arises, probably that offers some buyer protection. Add a 4% restocking fee policy for all returns. Change policy to "no refunds unless material error in description, in accordance with recent change in paypal policy." Probably others that don't spring to mind yet.
