  1. Geez, mine's just a white gravestone. Want it. Take please. Thought I hated the idea of variants. Weird.
  2. It's not the end of the world, all you did was thread krap in a handful of sales threads. On a jerk scale, what was it, around a 5 on a 10 scale because of the frequency? At least you didn't do something horrific like talk politics, (pretend?) lose a slab, or praise Liefield. I wish you all the best man.
  3. Great books. Ordered 3 top grade FFs from his massive FF silver/bronze SLAB thread, and got the books quickly, very securely packaged, and without a hitch. Thanks you, sir.
  4. Probably closing the thread in MIXED fixed the admin problem that closed your thread (same books). Heard you mention the "ring", congrats and good luck !!!
  5. I think they have a thread to announce "check out my thread in the Misc. forum" although its title sounds more like a place simply to announce miscellaneous stuff. Can't hurt, even Lizzie uses it.
  6. Your OCD REQUIRES duplicates! I've never collected Metal Men, and yet I still considered buying that nice Showcase copy you have of their second app. Always got a kick out of them growing up, thought it seemed such a painless way to learn some of the periodic table.
  7. A batch of slabs I bought from Casey actually arrived two days ago, but it took me until now to unpackage the comics from the very secure packaging, Great books. Super fast and secure delivery. Also I realized I owe @makeminemego for another batch of books from a few months ago - raw books that time, including a very nice (tightly graded) copy of Hulk 102. So double kudos to his trustworthiness, although I guess the usefulness of these compliments to Casey is waning, at least I can say thanks sir!
  8. Good luck Buzzetta, I envy you your complete ASM run. Mine ends at just 441 -though I have a half shortbox of others like the first dozen issues of vol. 2 and McSpidey, many Straczynskis up through that pact with Beelzebub and that Brand New Day nonsense, a few copies of 700. But what you got going is fantastic and I'm glad you plan to keep it up. My sympathies go out to you in this time of loss. Like me and Buffy at Season 5. Or was that Season 3, I forget.
  9. FYI about the Masterworks, there are a couple of different kinds - in addition to the newer "Epic" versions already mentioned by F for Fake. The hardcover Masterworks (volume I to the far right in pic), and the softcover 'Barnes & Noble' editions (don't know official name) that printed at least 5 volumes (up to ASM #50) and include around 10 or 11-issue-run (or 9 issues + annual). The 3 volumes pictured to the left are the soft-covered. Original retail was $12.95 for these TPBs. I think the hardcovers basically started at $30 and went up from there. The point is you might be able to find the softcover TPB versions not priced with a scarcity premium like many of the Omnibus or Masterworks series.
  10. Fantastic Four #209 CGC 9.6 OW $40 Fantastic Four #210 CGC 9.6 OW $40 Fantastic Four #211 CGC 9.4 W $100 Such a nice run of pretty books - can't resist a few. Take those 3 please.
  11. Imagine what an empty GGA world it would be on the boards, if Rick was a black hole from which no book ever re-emerged.
  12. Just . . . wow. Particularly like that you shared your 'war' stories. Good memory. You registry guys blow me away, what zeal. My compliments. I'm a fan of Colan, I've got something like TOD 1-50 or so in mostly very fine range, so there's that.
  13. ^Flashed me back to the 70s/80s listening to e.g. Deadheads or hardcore Zappa fans exchanging notes among other things. Back then they swapped cassettes and occasional vinyl bootleg recordings.
  14. HI Dan, after 20 years of buying on ebay and very little haggling at cons, I probably have lost any negotiation skills if I ever had them. But I'd suggest 2 things (basically agree with kav but without his good humor). Once you have your few books picked out and your offer for the group (say 300, 400 and 400, for books he's asking 400, 500, and 550) tell him you like a few items in particular but they're a little outside your price range. Ask him if he has any room to discount if you buy a few? If you're anxious to make the deal he might be able to tell from your body language and dig in (or maybe he just never discounts). But perhaps you can send the right signals - that you're basically indifferent about the books at his price, but ready to buy at yours if he's willing to part with them. Just tell him straight up - hey, please don't take offense at my offer, but I'll give you $1100 right now for those 3 books you have listed at $1450. Maybe ask him early in the day, and tell him you'll check back at end of day in case he decides he likes your package offer after some time to consider it - later, he might have a had slow con and want some cash, or had an extra good con and so be willing to let them go as a package deal. Ya never know. Poor boy if after you spend it all he later decides to work with you - but that would be a good problem to have. Must ask - what are you looking at anyway?
  15. A straight answer that probably sounds sarcastic - grade a book from a scan for good sense of approx. grade after a press/cleaning. Grade based on physical book held up to light from different angles for a pre-press grade (a few camera views instead of the flattened and smooth appearing visual of a scan). What it lacks in subtlety it makes up for in simplicity. And these days many advertise their books using words like "pressable" and 'would grade X after scan.' Buncha jokers using advanced puffery imo, suggesting buyer should 'pay up' based on theoretical value, and it works hence my peevish tone.
  16. Grabbed a short stack of tightly graded comics - thanks a lot Mark! Shipped securely and safely, for the record. PS- to save you spam in your in box, here's my belated confirmation of receipt @Kramerica
