  1. Nah, we're in a golden age of comic book movies, seriously. Appreciate it while it's here, and meanwhile watch a lot of TCM to avoid superhero burnout. It's a golden-age bubble world all its' own. Geez, they even had Citizen Cane a couple of months ago. ; ) Meanwhile all those great Marvel (and generally mediocre DC) movies will still be in the can, I'm not going anywhere (and if I do then I'll be engaged with bigger problems). I really can't wait to see Infinity War/Engame, I've been a Starlin fan since his 70s work on CM and Warlock - what I mean is I can't wait until I care enough to not be able to wait (sorta like anticipation postponed).
  2. I've been a fan (marvel comics reader) since childhood. Peaked at Civil War - thought died and gone to heaven. Don't think seen any superhero since except Deadpool 2. Oh, and Venom on 'cable.' Haven't seen Infinity War or Endgame yet. Just saw Aquaman and Black Panther on airplane (one each going and coming). Oh!, and Ant Man and Wasp last month on cable too. Guess I'm getting old.
  3. I think it's a bit worse than that. It now seems common, if not frequent, that the assigned grade includes assumption that book will be pressed and that advertised grade is not the comic in current state, but a future hypothetical grade book would probably receive after a pro press/cleaning. "oh, back cover a little dirty but a cleaning will fix that right up …"
  4. Why do bad things happen to good people? Who would win in a fight, Hulk or Jack Kirby? So why did Stan Lee take all the credit for the work you slaved over and for which you received only pennies?
  5. @NoMan might be in market, great copy Rick !
  6. By "Gorgo" I'm guessing you mean the Fantastic Giants 24 ?
  7. I believe the new testing area is unseen. Now you tell me. I used to practice or test a post by editing one of my older posts, since editing an old post doesn't bump the thread to top, and nobody would see a weeks old reply dozens of pages back no matter how many changes I made.
  8. Vote's in. Didn't pick one of Frazetta's Molly Hatchet covers, though I admire those a lot. Here's a favorite of mine that didn't make your cut, it stood out ever since I saw it on cover of Nat'l Lampoon, the Ghoul Queen.
  9. Coins are ok, just don't go furbie on us.
  10. I remember now, you're right. There wasn't even any FF on earth as I recall now.
  11. Probably not responsive, but there was this return to the character by Kirby and Lee. The 'Fireside' book from late 70s.
  12. Is there any formal or technical distinction between discolored staples and rust? Because I've seen the discolored kind that decades later are still discolored but never spread beyond the original noticed discoloration.
  13. take these two please, Mark. If I come across a #44 I'll have a complete run 15 thru 50.
  14. @lizards2 and I forgot who else was gunning ? Not a Binky.
  15. Zoom in, it says: : _ : - : I have no idea what it means though. That Exciting looks like a great book! Nice pickup.
  16. ^ That's not nice! ASM 151 was my first comic, bought it at the local stationery story. Plus, you know, the house.
  17. Insane, I know. c4less got $25 for a #1 (fantasy masterpieces 1 reprint of SS 1), but then c4less gets way more than most sellers on jerkbay. Fant. Master. 1 reprint of SS 1 brings $25 I increase my prediction of return on the $200 copy of Fantasy Masterpieces #4 up to 80% likely.
  18. https://www.ebay.com/itm/FANTASY-MASTERPIECES-4-Classic-Thor-Silver-Surfer-Cover-MARVEL-VF/183793029657?hash=item2acaeb1219:g:OikAAOSwenVcx6Zj Nearly $200 for reprint of Silver Surfer #4. Probably not the right thread for this, but it's not worth it's own thread - and it's as amusing as many other "good golly look what I saw on ebay" threads. And practically nothing misleading in the item title or description - except no mention of "reprint" can be found anywhere, and it's a bronze book listed in silver age section (but 75% of feebay does that). What do you figure, about 50/50 chance the buyer returns it?
  19. Might easily work on me - I'm less aggressive about getting 'top dollar' especially if I got the book much cheaper, and like the idea of two 'winners' (me for selling, the buyer because he got a discount, a good feeling that might even carry into the next day or two). Selling at a discount from the max amount I could easily get, just to provide a profit to the other, psychologically makes me feel a sucker (I'm not pretending it's a rational reaction), not a person who just did a favor and made some money at the same time. It's why I sell on feebay despite the monetary costs compared to here, stay clear all the underlying personalities and possible drama, just mercenary dealing, makes no friends but OTOH no enemies either (well, plus I've a lot of junk).
  20. Yeah, as someone mentioned up thread your list and pic omits the Super-Heroes 1 title (with Spiderman vs Man Wolf and Morbius, really good Gil Kane story), although you almost certainly have it in your box. Someone else included a pic of it mid-thread, but you might not have seen that, just an fyi as one completist to another (but don't get me wrong, I've only like 35 of the GSs). Your batch is wonderful, congrats! I think the Superheroes came out with Superstars but they renumbered Spiderman so he got 7 GS issues total. How many are there, like 70 total? Those Kid Colts are awesome.
