  2. Thanks for providing the info. The more detailed info or references newer members can provide, especially books at this caliber, will help lead to a sale!
  3. Yep. And tulips were referenced again at the end of 2017 when cryptocurrencies jumped up. Remember bitcoin hitting 19k? It's sitting at a sweet 4K now.
  4. Thanks. Dial Tone may be a Brazil mission. Top row third in from the right. The joe I miss the most is the original Tunnel Rat and his huge friggin backpack. Traded him long ago as a kid.
  5. I frequent this thread a lot for entertainment and nostalgia; it really brings me back to childhood. So after a couple of leftover Irish refreshments, I dug up a few of my childhood toys that survived garage sales, donations, and physical abuse. Pretty sure I have the ewok village around somewhere because I found a bunch of the rails, net, and ladders. Here are most of my Star Wars and Joes. Enjoy!
  6. Grats on the trade! The blues, reds, and human torch colors are deep. Stellar copy my man!
  7. Here was my lone win for the night. There's too much to enjoy on the cover I couldn't say no!
  8. I get what you're trying to relay here, but it comes across as smug and pretentious. If there's a way to tone it down I would try to - or not do the sign at all. I've seen other comic shops with similar messages on their websites and it's a turnoff.
  9. Yes, growing 300% and 400% respectively over six years is too fast imo. I understand there is correlation to exposure, but all these 1st appearance books having insane gains feels like artificial growth, hype, FOMO, speculation, whatever you wanna call it. Best example I can think of is WWBM 32. But that's a whole other topic. Back to topic, your post on availability and census was good - appreciate your legwork on the numbers. However we need to also look at motives for selling. Currently there is no news on Wolverine and Punisher just got cancelled. So I would argue those two books are in a lull with little motivation to sell other than to cash out. The availability numbers would be interesting to see at peak sales periods during movie or show announcements. Food for though.
  10. The bold is a very good point. I feel we're in a bull market now for comic keys. I don't see keys being able to grow at the pace they have been let alone being able to hold their value over time; i.e. 15 - 20 years from now. Back to 181 though, if there's ever a recession or pop culture fans/Hollywood switch to another avenue, I could see 181 tanking. It grew in value too fast and there's a ton of them out there.
  11. I agree with this sentiment. I think we still have one or two more years of the marvel surge we are seeing. Maybe in 2020 or 2021 DC 1st app books will play catch up
  12. I agree. The message is in poor taste. If the tweet had been something like "Thanks to the women and men for giving me one last fun run/cameo" or something along those lines, I would feel better about it.
  13. This is an interesting and well thought out statement. If comics somehow were to have an ID marker that could not be tampered with, it would minimize the room for error on the census going forward (e.g. re-submissions, signatures added, etc.). It would also mean that all grading companies would need to have access to each others findings and notes for reference. But what would they do if a discrepancy was found? Collaborate among each other? Curious, how do other graded collectibles work? Coins, cards, stamps? All graded by one sole company or do those other markets have the same issues to consider re: potential fraud.
  14. I believe @MrBedrock is implying to keeps things civil. That said, the topic of this particular book and nature of this discussion should probably be in its own thread so we don't clutter this one. And to @peewee22 I only buy CGC graded books, so you're safe with me
  15. The book was regraded by another company. It's up to the buyer to decide whether to trust that company or not. There needs to be some level responsibility from the buyer's end - that is my point. Please do not attack me, it's only my opinion I'm stating. You may disagree and that is totally fine, but attacking is not okay.
  16. It is in one company's opinion the book was trimmed. It is in another company's opinion the book was not trimmed. If the new buyer has a serious issue with this, then perhaps CLink should intervine upon the buyer's request. However, it should be the buyer's responsibility to do any research on potential buys, especially those of large caliber.
  17. The tick marks along the spine match up identically. Quick comparison. Left image is the original CGC graded book with trimmed pages; right image is regraded book from another company without trimmed pages.
  18. I came for the comics, and stayed for the comics. The threadkrapping was a bonus!! In all seriousness, great sales thread. Something for everyone. I truly hope your profits went well above expectations. You deserve it. And grats to all the buyers!
