  1. Do you think ComicLink darkened that particular scan? EDIT: I only ask because I distinctly see one “darker” cover compared to the other maroon covers.
  2. In my humble opinion, comics are a hobby. If they gain value, great. For investment purposes you should focus on minimizing debt for more cash flow, maxing 401k and IRA, or a brokerage account if you need liquid assets before retirement.
  3. You picked one up, grats! Do you have all the covers now? I might try to find a slabbed one in the future.
  4. My take is that it’s not so much the content itself as it is the amount of variants & printings, and the blatant effort of stores & sellers alike pumping books trying to make a quick buck.
  5. Now if only they could design a file cabinet with locked doors for raws and slabs..
  6. Correct, there are no 9.8 AF 15's that I'm aware of. Yes, there are about six times more TMNT 1 in 9.0 and above than AF 15 (approx. 364 TMNT 1 at 9.0 and above vs 65 AF15 at 9.0 and above). If I'm wrong or way off on the numbers, someone please let me know. My low census remark was to all graded first print copies of TMNT 1, less than 1000. AF15 has over 3300 graded copies. The low census for all graded copies of TMNT 1 first print is part of the driving price along with it's pop culture presence. There will always be five things in life: death, taxes, Spiderman reboots, Batman reboots, and TMNT reboots.
  7. I honestly believe in 3-5 years $100k will be the norm for first print 9.8's. The low census coupled with the IP popularity and pop culture make it an absolute no brainer. I truly believe this is the copper age version of AF15 or Tec 27. EDIT: Currently a 7.5 is at $9.1k with 11 days to go on ComicLink.
  8. Nice grab! I really enjoy the Ranger Slayer covers.
  9. In my opinion, and that's just that - an opinion of a random person on the internet, you can be a great artist and still have a moment where you become a flavor of the month. Does Dell'Otto have excellent work? Sure does! I own quite a few of his comics and have one of his OA pieces. Does Adam Hughes have great work too? Absolutely. I own a few of his 2006 Catwoman series. But I believe there are times when an artist, whether new or old, suddenly blows up and becomes a flavor of the month. Artists and series alike have ebbs and flow in popularity. Especially in moderns where one moment an artist is huge then months later a different artist is the next big thing. Being a flavor of the month doesn't mean your work suddenly sucks when you lose popularity, it just means you are no longer the center of the spotlight.
  10. 100% this. Remember when Adam Hughes Catwoman series blew up? Or JSC really started pumping out those 3 set variants? Dell’otto, Mattina, Sanders, Artgem. All flavor of the month. Unfortunately that’s where we are with moderns now; jumping from one artist or series or character to the next hoping we hit a homerun with the next big thing.
  11. I can't speak for others but only myself. I missed a Star Wars Legacy 1 in @maidenmate91's thread which put the series on my radar. You can thank him for the uptick in sales
  12. I already do. C'est la vie. Great sales thread though, hope you get your vacay funds!
