Comic book characters that look like celebrities

The raw Batman Beyond in 9.0 looks like it fits the bill for what you’re looking for. Character still has a ton of potential, especially if DC/WB starts pushing towards “future” characters getting more media exposure, imo

Is it poor taste to make an offer to an eBay seller?
B2D327 replied to NoMan's topic in Comics General
“Lowballing” as it’s referred to is in poor taste but this depends on what the asking price is. -
Spoon like this is what drives me away from moderns

Funny coincidence as just a few days ago, I was thinking about what would happen to my eclectic collection of comics, toys and vinyl records when my time comes. I’ve made a decent profit selling here and there but all my acquisitions came from the love of each hobby and profits usually went back in to one of them with the exception of a necessity but never looked at as an “investment”, so to speak. I came to the conclusion that I’d continue along that path of buy/sell and let fate decide where it goes afterwards. I can’t take it with me so unless my kids take some kind of interest, all I can do is tell them what they may be able to get for it but it won’t be my problem anymore. I honestly got my money’s worth and years of enjoyment out of it while I could. I would imagine many collectors may feel the same.

eBay ID: spra-10 Contacted them 10 days after winning their auction for an update on shipping; ignored my message until eBay stepped in with a lame excuse. Zero tolerance. Just tell me you f-ed up and keep it moving.

I’m honored. Glad you like it so much.

Is an X-Men 1 CGC 3.5 a Smart Buy at $10k?
B2D327 replied to Hey Kids, Comics!'s topic in Comics General
If it won’t hinder you financially as you stated, it should really be an easy decision. Major key book that you can afford now may not be so easy to afford later. Unless your intention was a quick flip, I don’t see how this book would be a mistake long term -
The few times I’ve use CL to either buy or sell, I either dealt with flakes that never showed up or low ballers trying to get a valuable key for a fraction of fmv and the old, “the condition is lower than I expected”. Then why do you still want it? 🤔

The original owner that I’d got it from had it for a few years before he decided to get it slabbed and according to him, the lcs he got it from sold it as a raw unrestored. Because he’d waited so long to sub, he really couldn’t open a claim and decided to bite the bullet. We agreed on a price as I also did when I sold it. The current owner would have to crack it again and resub but why would he take that chance? Personally, I didn’t feel it was trimmed either but I preferred to leave it in the plod slab just to avoid any headache. Since all parties involved were happy in the end, I don’t see the need to open Pandora’s box but my hands are clean in the event of any future drama

Not at all. I got it at a decent price and flipped it for a profit I was happy with. I was also happy for the buyer. He took a chance and it worked out for him. Notes were: 6.5 Restored- apparent. Trimmed on all 3 sides. It sat in the marketplace thread for close to a month before it sold

I sold a 6.5 PLOD GSX1 on the boards last year. Buyer did a clean/press and resubbed; came back 6.5 universal

I find reading old bronze and silver age horror books does it for me. Having a taste for the past is a good way to escape the present

Maybe not perfect but easily recognizable -
Congrats

Wow. Wasn’t aware of the Warren repli-copies although I see the other stuff all the time. I’ve been tempted with buying a few pch stuff that I have slabbed but I’d feel so dirty afterwards

Here’s the interview I remember reading some years ago. I think I found another one that took place later with more details after the first X movie but can’t find that one https://bleedingcool.com/comics/talking-to-andy-olson-the-original-creator-of-marvels-wolverine-comics/

Looks like an improvable 7.5 but if the top staples penetrated the back cover, maybe lower

Looks like most of the wear to the book is on the front cover right edge but hard to tell from inside the sleeve. Nice book though 7.5/8.0
