It's called Passion investments or Alternative investments for a reason. People don't buy million dollar comics so they can read it. People don't buy million dollar coins so they can spend it. They buy them cause they enjoy the rarity and the hobby. Stocks are only about a 7-10% yearly return, let's face facts, Stocks are boring and comics are much more fun, people pay big money to add their favorite books to their collection. A lot more people want an AF 15 than people want a share of Apple stock.

Even the below 6.0 grades are getting pricey

Despite the long TATs, people still send them stuff. They keep sending FT which pushes the regular slow boat stuff back even farther.

Wish they would use grader notes on 9.6 and 9.8..Tell us why it's not a 9.8 or 9.9 CGC!

This was most likely waste that got on the skid and went out the door. Presses, like your car, don't stop on a dime. It's a slow deacceleration on shut down, so stray books can go through the press and fold in all different directions, Books of this era are printed, folded and trimmed all on one press now. They don't print covers separately like they used to nowadays

Having worked in printing with all kinds of chemicals from blanket wash to different etch solutions, you'd be amazed at what people have tried to drink over the years, so much so OSHA requires printing plants to have every bottle label of what's in it as well has a hazard report on hand on for every chemical in the building

The graders are in on the revenue generating like a Judge who's in on generating revenue for the state which is why they don't dismiss traffic tickets, only reduce them

Grading has tighten up so bad now that they hardly give out 9.8s anymore. Mint books are getting 9.4s and 9.6s with every book getting grader notes of "light bends" and of course the phantom staining they seem to find that no one else can.

I don't submit books with water stains, problem solved with wet cleaning haha

He talks about Spider-man being a lot more red than the newsstand copy, there is no difference in color that's done on purpose cause it's a newsstand, only differance at the printer is a mere black plate change. He failed to notice how red the kingpin is compared to the other copy. This is 4 color printing that was being used, black, blue, red and yellow. If you really want me to get technical Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow or Black + 3 color plates. There is no "green ink" Want more green? Add more blue. Most people don't realize that the pressman has complete control over the color of the ink and where.

CGC wants you to send the book back to them so they can press and regrade it again and again, why? So they can keep making money, and they are all about the money.

No onsite grading this year. They didn't do Baltimore either and attendance was way down.

Definitely. I'd never buy a Bronze-Present without white pages. Silver age I stick to OW/W or better. Golden age...Crm/OW depending on how rare the book is. No Tan unless it's a Detective 27
