  1. Could be a Nip roller (White Wheels) is too tight causing too much tension which is wrinkling the paper, Yes this does effect the grade. Picture for reference.
  2. I've had detached covers come back 4.0 that looked worse than this
  3. Grader Notes Large spilt center of spine Light spine stress lines
  4. Well Alex must be happy . 55K for a 2.5 https://www.ebay.com/itm/393872916976?hash=item5bb4a7c1f0:g:S9wAAOSwhxJh4beU
  5. Click on his name and click "message" on his profile
  6. I ended up getting a LED magnify desk lamp...you can see everything so much more clearly. Even a book that looks like it's a 10.0 and perfect, CGC will still call it a 9.6 regardless...no idea what they are seeing what I'm not.
  7. X-Men 1 Magneto cover goes for $125-150 in 9.8, Newsstand 9.8s are double that.
  8. Printers sell ink and paper with the paper being the biggest cost which is sold by the pound. When I was in printing, the GM said that for every bundle of books (newspaper flyers) that they wanted to make $14 profit. It basically cost around 3 cents to print each Sunday flyer insert, this was about 3-4 years ago. As long as we printed up what we needed and all the skids weighed up, we were good to go as far as count. The idea is to not print more than what we really need. Just prayed we didn't have a skid come back short after we took the plates off.
  9. You have to remember, Comics back then were printed differently back then. The covers and insides were printed separately, sometimes the covers were printed at a different location! Ever notice the cover isn't newsprint stock? That's why. Anyway, The covers were manually assembled with the insides (called the guts) and people would assemble the book on separate stitcher machines. Someone could have stitched the book only to realize no cover was on it and the restitched it to add the cover. Don't know for sure to be 100% but it's a possibility. I think CGC got it right.
  10. Pressing and grading looks like it could take 2 years to get it back if you're submitting pre 75 with no fast track
  11. It's not a blanket smash in the black because there is also color missing in the red in the same spot. My only guess is that it could be a misplaced bustle wheel, they are supposed to ride in the gutters on the web, usually when it starts marking, they move them over. Picture for reference. They are used to adjust the registration, turn the top knob, the wheel moves up and down.
