  1. My rarest is a Nintendo Comics System Preview in 9.8
  2. Well spend the $100 bucks or buy a new scanner. That's what it boils down to.
  3. I work at the old Eastern Color plant which became Pro Line, then RR Donnelley and now it's LSC Communications as a recent spin off company of RRD. Few of the old timers remember when they printed comics there, they didn't print the covers, only the insides. They didn't trim anything, they'd run 10 page or 12 page book, small single web. Now, everything is sheet fed through that is trimmed and stitched all on one press with no additional equipment needed.
  4. With that kind of thinking you never will, I didn't think I'd own a lot of stuff but you just need to be persistent and not give up.
  5. I don't concern myself with slabbed funnybooks, but it seems to me that this copy is not perfectly cut, the spine is pushed slightly around to the back, and moreover the staples are egregiously right of the spine. I bet I could find an equal or better copy at any large convention. Bet you can't
  6. RMA is so concerned about how big or small a print run is, i'm starting to think he's losing sleep over it, truth is about print runs is that unless a few million are printed, it really doesn't matter as long as the demand is there. Books are everywhere, Any book can be "rare" doesn't mean someone will buy it. I have several hard to find books in my collection, only one that wanted them is me.
  7. I opt out of the GSP and just mail International first class. GSP scares off a lot of oversea buyers. Only have to print out a label ebay gives you, sign and date it and stick it in plastic sleeve. Not a hassle at all.
  8. It's all dreck until the character appears in a movie, honestly, I'm glad people are calling stuff like this dreck because I'm the one buying them for a $1 each, slabbing them and selling them for 10x what I paid for it. I just sold a Spider-Man #13 9.8 for $130 and another for $90, I bought 11 copies at a show for $1 each, I felt 5 of them looked like 9.8s, all 5 came back slabbed 9.8, I have 3 left... Sold the rest raw for $12-$20 each.
  9. Go into you Vuescan settings and raise the up the brightness and white level a bit, so it won't look so dark
  10. Good thing my Rai 0 is coming back a 9.8 "Matte Version"
  11. I don't buy any variants at all, By the time you buy the book, send it in to have it graded and get it listed, the book has already tanked. Everything has it's time.
  12. Got off the phone with CGC earlier today, Prescreen modern books received on 6/10 and the woman who took the call said "oh these got graded, so I wouldn't expect anything back till November" Yet a few weeks ago i was told they got graded on 7/26. and that 131 out of 155 made 9.8+ 2 different people giving me miles apart answers.
  13. My first comic shop was New England Comics in Plymouth, MA, they've closed down because it would only do well in the summer time. I loved those NEC Newsletters they used to give out, the old grey newsprint flyers with what was coming out.
  14. Yea, the current TAT's apply to those books they already received months back.
  15. 155 precreen moderns slowboat, received 6/10, Still haven't shipped, they've been telling me beginning of October. Online tracking still says "Scheduled to Be Graded"
  16. How many slabs do people have that they need to be scanning their inventory?
  17. Don't see why he just doesn't sell the book and move on.. He's basically just trolling CGC now. I hope "that other" company bans him too, but there are ways around it.
  18. Only slightly correct, when customers switch printing plants (usually cause they got a better price) the new plant will want to impress the new customer with a higher quality product so they'll beef up the color to make a good impression.
