  1. Quicksilver stand alone movie. Everyone seems to want this character in his own movie. Everyone I talk to does and I often ask complete strangers and they always say, "Quicksilver Stand Alone please." Then a Scharlet Witch movie. Then reboot Quicksilver movie. A steve Ditko documentary. Then Reboot it, before first one even hits streaming and x box Maybe the A-team somewhere. Then all the writers go to school and learn that a screenplay has two plot points. Maybe Syd Field or William Goldman or Robert Towne becomes a member of the x men? Make a movie with nothing but explosions and character turning with serious expressions to the camera. Reboot Reboot Commit Suicide Reboot
  2. I doubt it's in the CGC info that that's why. Let me call.
  3. I just learned that with the several posts above. The question was why?
  4. So, um, i'm been around awhile and I guess I've just never had a mega key graded at CGC. I'm more of a, "I'm gonna get my Moon Knight #1 graded and see if I'm correct that it's about a 9.6." (I was.) Why the big dollars to grade a high value book. Aren't they all graded the same, check for resto the same and put in the same plastic tomb?
  5. That’s right! Early reviews are in for new ant man movie and all the comic site movie reviewers are saying IT’S THE BEST MOVIE IN THE MCU! Noman is the Cal of Marvel Premiere #47. Dont be jelous.
  6. Towards the end of his run, right? I’ve purchased yp to 247 or so in his run
  7. can't remember as GA is not in my sphere of collection as I don't have the balls for it. But it is one super cool store. Owner lives and breaths comics. The smoking thing is too bad.
  8. all comments in this thread: going to have to You Tube it. Never seen it and only kinda heard about it. Here I go...... it took everything I had to make it thru this clip: is that alan moore? I wonder if there will ever be a serious study of the comic book genre? Anything ( and I haven't seen EVERYTHING) I ever seen has the "Comics just aren't for kids anymore" idiotic vibe. Whomever above suggested take some folks from these boards and make a serious show re: comics is right. Never'll happen. this is how I feel after trying to watch any comic book kinda shows/documentaries:
  9. ok that explains that. thank you.
  10. In Portland there is an awesome tiny shop called Acme Comics (I think). BIG PROBLEM however: the owner smokes like an old steam train from an O. Winston Link photo. I came out gasping for air. This is no joke - I felt as if I need an external air tank. I spent about 20 minutes in there and my throat hurt. Bad. I have no idea how damaging this is to the comics in his shop but it's his shop and more smoke for him!
  11. Never read Captain Marvel. In his 70s incarnation, whenever he's flying there are what looks to me to be gold asterisks popping in his backdraft (?). I associate these asterisks with underground comics when a character has, say, dropped acid and they are stumbling around these asterisks will be popping about his head. Anybody got the goods on why when Captain Marvel flies he's got this going on and when other characters fly they don't? Thanks in advance.
  12. keep it as is. (If that's your question if to try your luck or not) Wonderful book as it appears here and now. You also have to factor in the risk of mailing and handling with damages/loss that may occur. Unless it's a drop off in Sarasota.
  13. I bet they came from Ditko's brother. I'm not an expert at tax law but I believe the gift for the donation could be a tax write off. Like I said, no expert at tax law.
  14. Exactly. The Huntington Library here in Souther California does the same thing. They have a collection of photographs of downtown Los Angeles taken by a man who lived in apartment in Bunker Hill as it was being destroyed. Wanna see 'em, but no, I'm not a scholar and therefore not worthy. I'm mean I've spent a day w/ Robert Frank's marquet for The Americans at Houston's art museum with just a simple appointment.
  15. I wanna thank everyone for their suggestions. Lots of avenues I've never even considered. A lot of titles I've forgotten how good they were/are (Concrete) and lots I've never heard of or considered at all. I gotta big list of good reading because of all your help. Thank you.
  16. So wonder if it’s Steve Ditko’s family that is donating? Ditko himself wouldn’t, right? He seems to think such reverence and appreciation is not a valid emotion/response/whatever. Speaking of Ditko. Anybody have/know of any Ditko communications within the time frame of the last 2-3 months?
  17. are you being factitious? (ASM 248) Or is this seriously a good story to hunt down and read?
  18. I pretty much let them ALL get away and return at a later date and pay thru the nose. It's a problem I have but in the long list of human frailties we all have simply for being human, it's kinda not that big of a deal. I mean I help old ladies across the street but just can't seem to nab that certain book at the right time.
  19. what about the Dell O Motto guy (or whatever his name is) that always makes every thread he's brought up in in Moderns reduce participants to bitter arguing like children refusing to lie down for nap at the pre-school.
  20. Because they might try to rob me when my back is turned. Steal my Moon Knight (1981) 1 - 38 run.
