  1. Mother Nature has got Los Angeles' number. It'll be our turn soon enough. Thinking of you boardies over there.
  2. Says it's a closed group. Seems like there's a bit more unhinged folks in this hobby then say Leica cameras or Japanese wrist watches.
  3. Good question for answering this particular thread and in general: What is a flip? is it a matter of time holding a book for sale, or... ?
  4. Should I call a local comic shop in the Los Angeles area who I'm friends with the owner to warn him of stolen books that might come his way?
  5. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your report. Enjoyed it!
  6. I glad the OP is safe and I hope an outcome happens to his liking. I have lived in Southern California for 30 years and have had numerous dealings with the LAPD over any number of things (including robbery and assault) as have many of my friends. I base my experience on the police here on those dealings.
  7. I'm marked by unaffected simplicity, however, that being said, I don't think these guys are collectors. They gotta be selling them or attempting to sell them somewhere. Probably in Southern California as I doubt they're very well traveled.
  8. For those posting here thinking the cops in Southern California care. They don't. At all.
  9. I'm wondering if the bad guys are reading this. I Googled "Comic Book robbery El Monte" and it linked right to this thread...
  10. Bored and curious at work and got to thinking what's the largest grade jump you've ever seen a book get post CPR? Like a 5.0 to a 9.6? What's the craziest? Thanks!!
  11. I still travel the Los Angeles area to all the area comic shops (why, I don't know. Rarely worth the trouble. I guess I still love the LCS although most suck-a#@) List what you can that was stolen (above what you already posted, if possible) and I will keep my eye out. Was at comic shops in Glendale, Sherman Oaks, Pasadena and North Hollywood yesterday
  12. In Los Angeles? If so, where specifically? If I can help….
  13. Since I've been accused of being Mr. Negative my whole life, which comics are crashing and burning? And in which short box of mine in my closet can those issues be found?
  14. http://www.antiquetrader.com/antiques/retired-detroit-postal-worker-earns-97400-from-comic-book-sales/ Seem like nice boys
  15. How will this affect (effect? Really gotta learn the diff between those words) craziness? Probably not at all. New/bad/lazy reporters. New/bad/lazy editors. Lazy viewers. Nothing to see here. Keep moving.
  16. SO I'm reading old issues of Devil Dinosaur (pretty great stuff. I feel sad when Devil is in danger, not so much with Moon-Boy) and in the letter pages it says JK lives in Thousand Oaks (basically, Los Angeles). Question: How did he get the pages of art from his home in Thousand Oaks to NYC? Just drop it in the mail? Special Courier? UPS? I imagine some mail must have gotten lost. Thanks! Enquiring minds want to know!!
  17. Getting back into comics about a year ago after a 25-30 year break, I did this very thing: Bought a ST 110 cause the movie is coming out, blah, blah, blah. I'm glad to have as I like Ditko's work on that book a whole lot, but more then over paid for it and then some. It's a 3.5 and looks it. Just found the receipt. Book priced at $1,400. Bought it for $1,300 in 9/2016. Let me check GPA and see if I'm rich yet.
  18. I honestly don't see how you guys keep all these AF15 sales straight.
