  1. I felt the same way with Dublin Dr. Pepper when that got axed.
  2. Do you think the "Stan Lee '84' written on page 1 in pen" on the label will affect (effect?) the price on the ComicLink 6.0? I mean, does someone pay more for that?
  3. Why is DD 191 referred to as "The Dardevil The Musical." ?? I'm familiar with the story. Don't remember any musical. http://www.metropoliscomics.com/bookSearch.php?searchType=advanced&title=Daredevil+&issue=191&cgc_only=on&search.x=34&search.y=7&search=Search
  4. Under-welming. And I'm a huge Miller fan. Finally read it (TPB) on a long plane trip to Dubai/Africa in February of this year. Massively under-welmed. Left the book on a bench at the airport in Dar es Salaam next to a guy with a goat. Might still be there.
  5. Ann Rowe Seaman's bio on Jimmy Swaggart. If you love deep, dense bios Seaman is your woman. Looking forward to Jimmy McDonough's bio on Al Green, Soul Survivor. Ditto on McDonough: NY Times calls him the Literary Terminator. His bios on Neil Young, Tammy Wynette and Andy Milligan are mounumental and I couldn't care less about Young or Wynette. I read 'em cause Jimmy's that good.
  6. page number of Katradis' article? Plowing through the Market report and have not read of it yet. Read Jamie's. Loved the "nobody reads these things" part.
  7. I'm no Paypal expert, but is the moral of the story here to never use Friends and Family? I believe I've bought some stuff here on the sale forum and they asked I used Friends and Family (not sure why? Why?) and it turned out fine.
  8. Gray Barker also published book called The Silver Bridge which was about a giant Mothman sighting in West Virginia before The Silver Bridge collapsed in the late 60s. This was made into a giant Hollywood film called The Mothman Prophesies with Richard Gear. Never saw the film but I believe there is a scene where Gear calls someone on the phone and it's Barker. Barker was an extremely interesting (and influential) cat.
  9. After reading your post I went to look for the catalogue and look at the ASM #14 9.8. I put it back on top of the bookcase and it fell behind it. I'm not gonna see it again for years.
  10. Gray Barker published UFO literature from his country outpost in Exchange, (outside of Clarksburg) West Virginia from 50s until his death in 1984. He published a book by Al Bender in 1955ish called "The Three Men" (something like that) that was about Bender (A self proclaimed UFO researcher) being visited by 3 men dressed in black claiming to be from the government (or another planet, can't remember) telling him he was too close to the truth about UFOs and to back off or else. They drove a black car, had black sun glasses, black suits, etc, etc, etc. Bender was so frightened that he abandoned the UFO field for good and disappeared never to speak of this experience again. I believe Bender, up to the point of being visited by The Men In Black, had some kinda UFO research club. This was the first appearance in UFO lore of The Men In Black.
  11. It's about the rivalry between DC and Marvel. It's written by Reed Tucker, whose only other book concerns "fun facts" about the "reality" teevee show The Osbourns. Anybody know anymore?
  12. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Magik Woo auction at HA. I guess some deep in GA would consider his books too pedestrian and commonplace.
  13. The follies of the Run Collector. Guilty as charged. There ought to be a rule that if you went against the grain and took the time/trouble/persecution of collecting a non-pressed run and not just keys then your run is automatically worth 250k.
  14. Somebody buy it! Quick! We can't let the above happen! If we let the seller return it to the climate controlled storage facility we're never gonna get at it! Come to think of it, if these Spiderman books are transferred back to the climate controlled storage facility, there will be no more vintage Spiderman comics available for anyone, ever.
  15. what's the AF15 resto for those of us not knowledgable about resto?
  16. I'm putting an x-men run together: 95 - 145 or so. Raw, unpressed. I feel your pain
  17. Anybody else got the Heritage August 10-12 auction book?
