  1. i forgot that book! Saw it and wanted to read it. Thanks
  2. Can I have your number so I can yell at you until Bob sends my books?
  3. It's a joke. Just kidding around. It's a goof on how in this hobby some go way off the deep-end with their collection, narcism, what-have-you. Bob's a good guy.
  4. She does encourage me to get the books I want. Curious now that you mention it.
  5. She's a redhead looker, Lou. Seriously. Not sure why she married me. I think she may have mental problems.
  6. we went white water rafting and she broke her ankle in 3 places so she's kinda grumpy. it's ok. she didn't buy a horse and let me get an "X-Men #1" instead so….
  7. I also plan on telling Bob how to run his comic business even though he's been in the biz for years selling all kinds of high end books and I've never done a damn thing. I've EARNED this right by buying about 500$ worth of X-men books from him.
  8. My life is a fail. And I'm gonna take it out on Bob Storm
  9. Likewise, I just bought some books from Bob and he warned me that it would take a while to ship because books were at various conventions and had to be pulled in addition to his hectic travel schedule. Even though I told him it was no problem and ship them when he could, I'm still going to call everyday and demand my books. I'm going to call several times a day in fact. I'm not going to stop calling until I have my books. Each call will be angrier then the last. I'm a SERIOUS COMIC BOOK COLLECTOR and the everyone needs to know this.
  10. There is new one every time I sneeze.
  11. You know, logically, you'd think the superhero movies would fade out, but I don't know, man. In the early 00s when reality shows really started to become popular I thought, "This s@#t is so stupid it can't possibly last." And look today: REALITY TEEVEE IS NEVER GOING TO STOP. Unfortunitely, the superhero movies will be here until we all die.
  12. I'm probably gonna get 1/4 of what I paid for 'em when I cash out. Always works out that way for me. I'm haven' fun now so who gives a care. And unless I'm in dire straights not gonna sell the books and they're just gonna get willed to kid who is friends of the family who seems about as interested in, heck, he doesn't seem interested in anything. and my wife isn't yelling at me now. so it's all good
  13. There is a good book about the first comic convention in 1964 that (I believe) covers some of what you seek. There are reproductions of price lists and such. I'd fill you in more but my wife is currently yelling at me. Good luck!
  14. Yeah, about. Was thinking about making a post about how the 7.5 and up's were starting to fade away (after the onslaught of a couple of months ago when one came up for sale/auction every two weeks or so) but, now….. Weird world we live in. If this sells for the BIN price of 275K will that be the most expensive 8.0 sale so far? I've honestly lost track.
  15. I'm giving up a newer Ditko work. (Post 1975) I'm officially throwing in the towel. I've tried.
  16. Bludgeoned is a good word. It's kinda a chore to read the stuff. I will say the art is pretty good in his 2017 Mr. A. story "Mr. A. and the Knifer." I mean the guy is 89.
  17. Sometimes when I walk around the city and someone on the street asks me for spare change and I see they've been writing or drawing in a notebook, I say, "I'll give you some change for a piece of art you're writing or drawing." The Ditko stuff in Mr. A #24 looks like some of the stuff I've gotten.
  18. I believe there were price variants before SW so why is SW #1 the most valuable variant? Thank you in advance.
  19. This is my favorite thread in the entire CGC forum. Wish I had your guy's luck/perseverance.
  20. Bummed I couldn't find the Bob Kane song on Youtube. Anybody ever heard it?
  21. From an ad: Bob Kane wrote a song called "Have Faith in Me" that was recored by Hank Leids and the "Bat-Group" Courage. It was sold in the 45RPM format for $1.30, postage included which included the song "Have Faith in Me" and on the B-side "You've Got Me Crying." From a column by Nelson Bridwell: Action Comics #1 had a coloring contest in the book. The second story in the book "Chuck Dawson" was printed in black & white and the contest had you color the story, rip out the page, tuck it in the book and mail the entire book back to the publisher for grading. The best 25 entries won $1.00 each. So, basically, the last page of the first-ever Superman story was the first page of the Chuck Dawson coloring contest story. I imagine a few Action #1s got torn up this way. Also from Bridwell: "Since about 1960, many collectors have stockpiled up on certain issues, so these are not apt to become scarce." This was written in 1976. The Ragman story was good. The art was great. Diving into issue #2 soon. Bought a reader set from MCS. Under grading from what I can tell. Good price.
