  1. you said these boards often feel like a competition (competitions are often negative connotations) instead of a hobby (conversely "just a hobby' is often a positive connotation) . You mentioned you don't have to be a rude blow hard in answering a noobs noobie questions but I guess rude blow hards really have no choice in being rude blowhards. so I suppose that's impossibe. I'm sometimes amazed that CGC deems these boards worth their time, expenditure and money. I fully expect CGC to throw in the towel any second now just from the pure hassle of it all. When this does go down I wonder what's gonna happen to these kind guys that are extra rude to newcomers, how are they gonna spend their years of accumulating all-important internet points? Probably stand around the Dollar Store screaming about someone with12 items in the 10 item check line. Anything to feel important. Does that clear up my views for ya?
  2. i'm assuming HA keeps your personal biz off of front street.
  3. Bought a book thru the HA auction site. Considering signing up for the "somebodies made an offer" featue. Wonder what the pros and cons are of signing up for this service. Thanks in advance for any input.
  4. Threads like this should be banned. Too much. PTSD and all. It's like when you were a little kid and someone said to you, "When you were born the doctor slapped your mother" and it forces you to go to a quiet place and contemplate.
  5. X men 3 Spiderman 10 Spiderman 20 These things had to be 9.0 or above.
  6. Hey get this TwoPiece - You know what my wife has been nagging me to do? She wants me to try to purchase the sign atop the oldest pornographic theater in Los Angeles. Really. So I've gotta go down there to this grimy porn theater and try to get these guys to understand I want to buy the sign. I kinda gave it a look-see about a week ago and these poor guys from India (?) can't conceive of why I want to buy the sign. Honestly, it's just so weird. You hear all the moaning from inside the theater and I'm yelling through holes in bullet-proof glass, "NO! I KNOW THERE IS SIGN ALREADY THERE! I WANT TO BUY IT FROM YOU!" But I love my wife, so off I go to try again.
  7. I'm sure you're a nice guy but you're incorrect in your first two sentences so I stopped reading. Can you get beaten up because you took someone's picture? Of course. (Why do you think I'm trying to send TwoPiece out there?) Can someone sue you for taking their picture or sue you for any reason they can dream up? Of course. Will they win in court? No. And I stopped reading after that.
  8. Omnibus kinda sucks. It's impossible to read unless you hire someone to hold it for you.
  9. You're on a public street, your photo can be taken and is. Existing case law already supports that. If I take you're picture and sell it for a million bucks, you're entitled to nothing. Get your camera and go for it.
  10. i should report you so you get another strike. I'm hurt and scared.

What’s the conclusion here: the OP is a head case? If I’m incorrect I apologize to the OP. I do not want to read all this.
  13. Fine, but understand you're asking for my input: 1. Variants are stupid. Liking them makes you look dumb, like when you turn a can of whip Cream upside down at a party and inhale it. 2. Alex Ross is a seriously crappy artist. If I want to look at a photograph-like drawing than I'll just look at a photograph-photograph, say perhaps the works of Gary Winogrand or Stephen Shore (but not his recent celebrity stuff for Vanity Fair but his stuff from the 70s) Also study Ed Rushe's Twenty Six Gasoline Stations. 3. 5000 posts on a comic book board in two years is seriously indicative of not getting out of the house and doing something. While I can appreciate not liking people, you still have to get out of the house. Speaking of photography and leaving the house, grab a camera (Leica M6, 28MM lens so you really gotta get close) and travel to "the other side of the tracks" in your town and start taking pictures of people and report back. You're welcome.

    What about the methadone clinic?
  15. As someone who has spent a lot of time on the Warner Brother's lot, and a lot of time hiding from work in the "Warner Studio's Store," I would never buy anything, ever, from the WB store. Maybe a coffee and seriously that is it. I've seen that WB art/ cell animation and stuff. It falls off the wall, is kicked around. And boy when they have their "sidewalk clearance sale" that stuff sits in the hot sun, rain. Frame and all. You may as well buy a print at Spencer's Gifts in the mall by the food court. I'm sorry dude. I really am.
  16. yeah, just did a little more research. i should probably stay off ebay
  17. I always thought the Inverted Jenny was suppose to be a seriously expensive stamp. On ebay's completed listing they sell from $500- $1,500. Or am I not understanding stamp collecting. I seriously thought it was a $200,000 stamp or something. A thousand bucks????

yeah, all they had was issue 189 and a big hole where a bunch of comics go, so.... They did have a comic called Bionic Woman vs. Charlie's Angels. Do people really buy that s-?
  19. My accountant says, "Whoever your financial guy is, keep him." I donna. We made some money this month. I don't sell my comics, so I have no evidence that I could make money, which I probably could not. I really have no idea what's going on. Maybe my wife has a thing for him.
  20. I still want it all. Damn wife keeps giving the money to the financial guy.
  21. wow. i always thought Mr. Nuwman was a Mad Magazine creation. I wonder if Sylvester the Janitor from Cracked is from the turn of the century, too?
