  1. A new $999.00 from Steve Ditko: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Steve-Ditko-Signed-Intact-Letter-Envelope-with-Ditko-Name-and-Address-Sticker/401779116867?hash=item5d8be6cb43:g:oxEAAOSwKVtcvi9c
  2. Again, Bob, with all due respect to you: I'm sure it's tough working a con. As I've posted here numerous times I have sometimes volunteered my help with the owner of my LCS when he sets up a cons here in Southern California so I would know what it's like to stand on the opposite side of the table, so no, you don't need to post those things as I've heard them before although I'm sure not as many times as you have. Would you like to hear my glamours life/job of crewing on Hollywood productions so as to have money to buy comics?
  3. I feel for ya. If I'm not serious, I don't leave the house.
  4. I don't know distance/size, bob. I know many dealers have prices that can't be read from where I'm standing and where books are. (As fella above posted and I've posted many times.) So I gotta ask, Dealer. Dealer seem to be hassled by this like I'm bugging him, so it's like put the price so I can read it so I don't have to bug you. I've bought from you. I introduced myself at Wonder Con so you invited me back behind the table. Problem solved. I could see prices. I'd ask about a book. You'd pick it off wall and show it to me. But yeah, if I was a dealer and it bothered me to get up, get a book off wall to show someone the price, I'd make the price BIG! So if the problem is post it notes reflect a different price than a dealer's website, man, I dunno, I just want to be able to see the prices so as not to bug people. If I've got 5 grand for Book X and I see Book X for 100 grand on the wall, well, I'm not gonna ask to see it. I can make a decision, like, wow I'm really out of the ball park with Book X guess I gotta save up some money. Otherwise a dealer just treats me like "i'm kicking tires." And as the poster said above and I can't agree enough: I save my time, and you save your time.
  5. Isn't this the Mother F-ing truth. My favorite is when dealers roll their eyes and have to get up out of that chair to hand me a book that I can't read the price tag on from afar BECAUSE IF I COULD YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO GET UP OUT OF YOUR CHAIR.
  6. I wrote him and told him about my friend in jail.
  7. glad i live in california where taxes are reasonable.
  8. i've seen your books in the sales thread. to start with 5k "play" money and end up here. wow.
  9. I stop reading comics (except for a Fantagraphic title or two and a D & Q title or two) around 88 and I read those hard, threw 'em in a corner when I was done, used 'em as coasters or whatnot so nothing there. I did pick books with care when I was a kid from the rack or the LCS (1978 to through High School to 1984) and bag and boarded those and, I dunno, forgot my point....
  10. Is 9.0 a low grade? Damn my drekollection just got dreker.
  11. In LA there was the Sing Lee theater in Chinatown w/balcony. Played kung fu kinda stuff circa 1986 & 1987. Been around since 40s. Saw those cool Baby Cart Assassin films there
  12. I thought a 5.0 was a 9.0 on my first submission. It was bad. I'm improving. I currently believe 6.0 to be 9.0.
  13. Thanks. That sh*t right there is heavy.
  14. dude I don't even know what that is. Is that some kinda SAT question where they ask you which direction the cat is going if hammer breaks glass. I'm very, very distressed now.
  15. Is this post open or closed? It's very distressing to me.
  16. I can't get to Canada at the moment. And if I could/can in the future I would have to set up a meeting in advance with Woo where at whatever the convention is that he talks everyone's ear off. The recluse comment came from Barry Sandoval at Heritage (along with a sleuthing strategy I've used in the past) Like I said, I've tracked down TV evangelists ( who can say they hung out with Robert Tilton?) and various ephemeral and industrial-jeopardy filmmakers. I actually want to ask Woo about his Hip-Hop-Lock-and-Bop (?) dancing career, also. I'm sorry I missed this "Dave." Link?
  17. "Beat on the door" meaning let the comic community I'm involved with know that I own a book from his collection and I'm looking for an audience (phone or person) with the reclusive Mr. Woo pertaining to that book. - like any kinda detective work you start where you can. Anything's possible until it's proven not to be possible. Again, you gotta start somewhere. I dunno know if he's here or not but I've put a lot of this puzzle of mine together by posting here. When I post here PMs do come in and, as I've said, the puzzle is starting to fit together. Or talking with Heritage. So I feel I'm doing well.
  18. Thanks. I have the Intelligent Collector magazine with his interview. I have one of his prized books so I feel a kinship. Perhaps he just ignores me. I don't blame him. I've been ignored by wacky UHF TeeVee preachers, directors and cinematographers of high school drives' ed films, and on and on. I can't really blame someone for ignoring me. I rarely make a good first impression.
  19. No matter how hard I beat on the door I can't get Magik Woo to answer. You gotta admire the J.D. Salinger of the comic world.
  20. Murderous child killers are weird, however, THE POST IS CLOSED!
