  1. yes bonkers and a total outlier. I do think some of the art is on the market. HA had some of the comic covers. I assume the donated materials were for the original interiors and covers but not the Marvel reprint covers.
  2. Sorry, this isn't my data, it is from another user that maintains this list whose name I assume is alexjohnson (but his screen name is missing some vowels). Search "Gordon Christman" to find the older threads.
  3. From the previous threads on this topic. Tracey Heft - Eclipse Paper I've also had one recommendation for each of these: Jonathan Derow - vetted for works on paper - http://www.jdconservation.com/ Jill Pratzon - amazing for works on board and canvas. HIGHLY recommended. - http://www.jillpratzon.com/ James Pascoe - https://www.jamespascoe.net/ Mark F McDermott - https://www.EarthshineStudios.com
  4. It's interesting that Felix's comment made no sense to me until the subsequent post about Dennis. Reading backwards, this is a weird thread. Isn't there a list that someone always posts when people ask about restoration. This name is often mentioned. GORDON G. CHRISTMAN RESTORATION & CONSERVATION 330 SOUTH HORNE STREET APT L OCEANSIDE CA 92054 1-760 458 2290
  5. That link is behind a paywall. Here is one that is not: https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/texas-man-punching-officer-violent-struggle-capitol-jan-6-riot/287-8acb8ffa-906f-40bc-9d18-346a18175f64 I don't think this needs to even be considered political. Sending art into someone who is facing those charges just isn't something I'd be comfortable with doing in case their case goes poorly for them and they are unable to attend to their business.
  6. Didn't the IG post save his butt though. Without the exposure would he have known he bought a recreation?? 4d chess right there.
  7. Even vodou is being too kind. Nothing about that Conan figure is good. Still it will sell for more than most of my collection is worth so... Actually the arms are ok. I agree, < 1k on this all day long without the context
  8. One does wonder where the parameters of "not as described" begin and end. I am looking at a listing right now that is a bit of a risk, either the seller doesn't know what he says or is selling a partial copy. The seller claims no real knowledge of the item, which in this case I do believe, and as such presents so little in the listing there is almost nothing described to begin with.
  9. thanks for this, confirms a lingering question I have had
  10. I ran this through another calculator and the fee shows as 18831.58
  11. Unclear, your question assumes eBay is interested in cost transparency, which they are not. When they switched me to managed payments this year (not an option, required) they delayed charging my final fees owed from their old system and then proceeded to charge me a late fee. And of course, they took it right from my newly linked bank account (required) without any warning.
  12. 750 max eBay fee? Did not know it capped out though it looks like this isn't updated for managed payments. Paypal is out, now eBay takes their 12.xx% directly.
  13. I mean it's a bit risky but I believe you don't get your eBay fees back if an item is returned (much like what paypal started doing). If so, one could certainly be malicious here.
  14. And eBay requires you to pay for this signature service for any item over 750 in value, which isn't much these days. I think its just under 3 bucks for USPS but I want to say Fedex is closer to 5.
  15. How is this not fraud on their part? They charge for this service. Fedex did this to me with a massive 23k Hildebrandt painting, just leaned against the front wall of my house, no knock, no signature. And note that places like collectinsure typically require the signature. Fortunately I was home that day in anticipation.
  16. As a completely uninformed person I looked this up to see what the fuss was all about. My first impression is that this is a really ugly looking piece of art. That third panel...
  17. Now that the day 5 prelims are closed this dinosaur was the steal of the Frazetta lots I think. Perhaps a bit too close to his infamous "racist" pieces for bidder's comfort? Scratchy prelims now seem to be 5k +/-.
  18. I was looking at those lots myself. The min BP is also 49 dollars vs 19 for comic art and the rate is 25% vs 20% for comic art. Not sure why illustration art has a different format. I assume the market is thinner so consignors want more reserves, higher min/opening bids, and HA wants a bigger piece of the pie for the effort.
  19. Not sure if this has been discussed within these 71 pages of comments, but people like me with interests but no deep historical knowledge, ie the uninformed newbie type of collector, simply write off entire inventories as overpriced when you see someone consistently flip pieces like this. I mean, some of these prices may be good, some bad - hard to tell for people who aren't constantly monitoring the market. But seeing CAF galleries and dealer websites filling with the last round's auction wins just makes me move on. I must be in the minority here, but I basically assume I am being taken by the repeat offenders.
  20. I met Kev last year and did a couple of 5 figure deals with him. I knew he was sick, the acute downtown took me off guard. He was always spot on with emails, fast and furious replies. And then this summer around July 1 they stopped. I sent a few "are you ok" emails that never got a response. I suspected it was bad. We were discussing deals and he was buying this year, as far as I can tell. He knew everything about the fantasy art scene and had some crazy rare stuff in his collection that I think he kept pretty close to the chest. I assume the bulk of this will go to MK, but the few skype calls I did with him really gave the sense of "drawers of stuff". He really seemed to have have been doing the fantasy art thing way before anyone else cared. The pieces I bought from him were from an artist's estate, really niche stuff. I will definitely miss his encyclopedic brain for the artists and players. He invited me out last year since we are one state over. I should have taken that offer. RIP Kev.
  21. Don't know about the others but this seems pretty out there. The Kubla Khan one was on CC for some time for much less than this as I recall and is far superior, in my opinion, with the delicate dragon in the letters. Though I suppose this has the babe tax going for it. Still 30k for a logo, yikes.
  22. Correct, HA shows the 18.6k closing in their sold listings for Ploog but not the relist that I won for 8320, unless I am missing it. Perhaps they haven't loaded all PiH closed sales data yet??
  23. I checked an item of mine and there is an interesting observation. This item sold twice at PiH. I was not the insane person that paid 18k for this. Instead I was the less insane person that paid about 8k for this when it was relisted. Note, only the higher sale listing shows up on Heritage. I put in a claim through their system. https://entertainment.ha.com/itm/entertainment-and-music/lord-of-the-rings-poster-art-by-mike-ploog/a/997042-2348.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
