  1. And make sure to disable Live Bidding so you don't misclick ;)
  2. I'll register a guess it may be a Druillet piece.
  3. Man I wish Otus would open a commission list or even sell the newer pieces he is doing for Goodman Games, etc.
  4. I know someone with a good number of Sundays if you are interested.
  5. My local station lowered their price by 2 cents last week. I waited to fill up. Prices increased by 22 cents this morning. We are approaching 6 in AZ. Glad I don't need to drive much to survive.
  6. 23k, 5x7 inches, MtG art is a force of nature.
  7. I was told by "a guy" that would know that Matt did buy Tiamat, but this guy was also rather odd with the information so... Watching the MtG group operate is really something to behold. I don't know how much of it is speculative buying or, as I said above, nostalgia adjacent. I have 0 MtG pieces, am tempted by some but of course given my general tastes it is not the mainstream artist I find appealing (I would buy a Scott Kirschner piece if I could). The new stuff looks very flat and homogenous to me. I cannot discern artistic styles (except Donato). All the squirrel stuff just makes my scratch my head. I do know if I was an artist given a hot assignment I would certainly need to utilize an abundance of sketches and prelims to, you know, get the piece right (not to sell later, I swear). That I paid much less for a classic 80s Ian Miller Games Workshop piece than a brand new MtG piece is also interesting. Finally, I will say that MtG doing what its doing certainly sets price baselines throughout the fantasy genre. I have "overspent" on classic 80s fantasy art because, in reference to what similar buys in the new MtG realm, it all feels like a bargain.
  8. True. But my comment was that the only pieces I would ever likely be able to take a crack at wouldn't be max nostalgia, but rather max nostalgia adjacent. A good example of what I mean is buying the Elmore cover to Dragons of Autumn twilight, but not the first edition, the later re-release. Still cool and would still take my bank roll, but isn't the cherry but a very expensive substitute.
  9. I have scratched my head about many things on the MtG art group but these sales were top of the list. Paint still drying...I thought they all went to Matt as well.
  10. I can imagine lots of folks paying up for something like this and then feeling awful about it afterwards ;)
  11. Agreed, one of his best pieces and IMO one the best Conan pieces, period. I was surprised when this passed when offered at Profiles in History. It did sell soon thereafter but forget the details.
  12. You think that little? All academic I suppose but I'd love to see a public auction of anything from TSR. I think the result would be the same in terms of new ownership but the value would be interesting.
  13. It's a phenomenal piece of history. I am glad it still exists.
  14. I am really wanting to commission an artist (different from above) to do a piece that is still quite active but is also quite old. You know where this is going. You think bringing legal repercussions of non-delivery into the conversation is awkward then try posing the, "uhh, so what if you die?" question.
  15. What I thought as well, felt very slimy.
  16. Commission virgin here, but certainly have put out feelers. Recently contacted an artist who gave me the terms and stated a year turn around. I considered it but didn't want to wait that long. A few days pass and the agent contacts me about the list filling up and wanting to confirm the booking. I told the agent I didn't want to wait a year and would pass. I was then offered to jump the line if I paid an extra fee. Soooo, red flags? Normal?
  17. Has WD tanked any since it has left the popular consciousness??
  18. Wondering if anyone saw the price of this before it sold. Comicarttrakker also does not show the sold price. I am hoping it was disgustingly high ;) https://www.galeriebarbier.com/product/jean-michel-nicollet-couv-metal-hurlant-n8/?from=artist&from_id=163 I forgot about the launch, which was easy enough to do given the marketing was focused on the 2022 creations of tarot cards rather than this historic piece of art. Granted its not the most attractive piece but still this is a big sale for non-comic OA crowd.
  19. Seemed like he was pretty active up to the end.
  20. Stab in the dark here and quite specific, but if anyone is looking to sell I'd love a page from this series. Thanks Chris
  21. I highly recommend checking out European artists. 2dgalleries.com is a goldmine of undiscovered talent (to my untrained American eye). I look at the art Olivier LeDroit is doing for Requiem, look at the size of the pages, and wonder how it is even possible.
  22. Yes but half of them have black spiderman costumes...
  23. I know you won't say but boy am I curious about which lots you are referring to. I am wondering how the black spiderman consignors will feel if the results underperform. I am reminded of the movie Margin Call where the head banker states the importance of being first (not smarter) than the next guy.
