  1. Will anyone be attending John Romita Jr's public signing in Vegas on July 15th?
  2. A couple recent creations; Green Goblin head shot, after the statue. This one took awhile... Carnage, traditional pencils and inks + digital colors
  3. Amazing Spider-Man 50 signed by Stan Lee and John Romita
  4. Looks legit to me. Definitely one of his older signatures, matches his style of autograph during the 90's and early 2000's.
  5. Finally added a Sal Buscema Spider-Man commission to my collection! Link to CAF post: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1481823
  6. Hey all, I have been looking on the board for a topic dedicated to fan mail from comic creators, and was surprised to not have found one! I know Fanmailbiz has a forum for it but I know many more people use the CGC boards compared to that. So I decided to create this topic so we can all share our fan mail successes, and also our unsuccessful letters, and help each other add something personal to our collections from a favorite artist or writer. In my opinion, sending letters to creators is one of the funnest ways of obtaining a hand written response, signature, or sketch, it's such a rewarding feeling getting a personal response back from various creators, although the wait can be long, it is worth it in the end. I'll start off by showing some of my favorite successes from comic creators I've gotten over the years, Success from John Romita Sr. after I sent a letter to him in 2016, he was kind enough to sign and sketch this print, and included a nice note! about a 3 month turnaround. Fan mail success from joltin' Joe Sinnott last year! Huge thanks goes out to Joe and his son Mark for making this happen, always wanted a Thing sketch from Sinnott. Fan mail success from Adam Kubert! Sent Adam a letter saying how much I was enjoying his run on PPSM, and he was kind enough to include this sketch with his response, which I was very thankful for. Randy Emberlin success in 2017, included this great Venom sketch. I have also received responses from Steve Ditko, Peter Laird, Chris Pratt, and others! Looking forward to seeing some of your fan mail successes! Hope we can all help each other out in adding legendary comic creators.
  7. In my opinion, I think Kirby's signature is rare, especially on certain items. As a Spider-Man collector, I've been looking for a Spider-Man related item signed by Jack for ages, but no luck (other than a few that's come up which are fraudulent). Finding sketches of his are even harder, I've been after one for some time. For me, It's hard to find a collectible signed by Jack that appeals to me, and obviously compared to Stan, his signature his much more scarce, Stan keeps signing and signing, no matter what condition he's in which is really disappointing. As for Ditko, it is becoming easier to own a signature from him, many like myself have sent letters to him, and almost always receive a letter back, signed by Steve.
  8. I wouldn't say Todd McFarlane doesn't sign often, he attends a few cons every year and there are also plenty of private signings with him. At cons he usually signs for free, but there is a limit to how many books, but trying to get him at a private signing usually costs around $60-$80 per signature, which is approximately what his signature is actually worth. On the other hand, getting a sketch from Todd is next to impossible, head sketches from him have sold for thousands, but he sometimes does quick spider sketches on books which is easier to get, and maybe worth $100-$200. If you're buying a sketch of his online, make sure you do your research because there are plenty of fakes out there.
  9. Awesome! Can't wait for the new comic guest announcements, really hope you manage to get Skottie Young at Fan Expo Boston or Toronto this year
  10. Oh man you're leaving me really anxious haha. Crossing my fingers it's a Spidey artist...
  11. @Kevin Boyd Will there be another wave of Comic Guests being announced, if so do you happen to know when?
  12. I was debating where I should post this, but doesn't it involve sketches/ commissions?
  13. Hey all, Been looking for a while on ig, but am yet to find any sketch/sig facilitators attending Denver Comic Con next month. The reason I'm asking is because I'm hoping to make an addition to this Spider-Man jam piece I started last year, Adam Kubert has agreed to add a King Pin to it as long as it's at a con, I'm really pushing to try and get him at this convention. Thanks
  14. Super lucky! I sent Todd a letter about how much I enjoy his work, with a Spidey book in late 2016 and am yet to get a response:( Congrats!
  15. Did he ever mention that on his forum? I'm trying to find any posts regarding his upcoming appearances but am having troubles. That's a bummer that he'll probably just by signing Star Trek items.
  16. FOR SALE, Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider 2 original cover art by legendary, Mark Bagley. This was purchased directly from Mark last year at Niagara Falls comic con. Page is 11x17. $1000 (includes shipping) OR BEST OFFER. PM me if you have any questions or concerns. Link to post on CAF: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1474423
  17. I really hope he isn't only signing Star Trek related items... I guess time will tell.
  18. After reading the entire thread I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything about John Byrne sketching at Boston or Toronto Fan Expo, I assume it must be pretty unlikely he'll be doing them taking into account all the fans that would try to obtain a signature from him. Although, I contacted Byrne's agent asking him if there is any chance John would be able to add a sketch to my jam piece at Fan Expo Canada, unfortunately its on a page I'm providing and pencil only which doesn't follow Byrne's commission guide lines, but he still told me I should show it to him and ask. He never gave me the impression John wouldn't be sketching at those shows...but maybe that'll change if hundreds of fans show up in line. Crossing my fingers he has a fan package that includes a quick sketch from Byrne.
  19. @Kevin Boyd Still can't believe John will be attending Fan Expo in August, being that he rarely EVER attends cons now a days, I figure it'll be packed. I know its really early to tell, but do you have an idea whether John will be sketching at all in his special package, or signing session? I contacted his agent to see if John could add a sketch to my jam piece at Fan Expo, and he did tell me to show it to John and ask him, so I never got the impression he won't be doing them there, even though I find it unlikely...
  20. Thanks! Haha it was crazy how much the original cover sold for, no way I'd be able to afford that any time soon...
