  1. Hmmmm that is a tough. A lot to go into. I'm not sure you would have a lot of 9,8's if it's your childhood collection. They might be high-grade but not specifically 9.8 without a press, which is an added cost, but again, also doesn't always guarantee anything. That said, there is such a thing as a certain pin point grade that you can send in and if it doesn't grade that or higher, cgc will slab the qualifiers for less send back the rejects. That's called a prescreen and has a 25 book minimum. No THAT said for moderns at $25 a book that's a lot of dough for a 25 book min. To me I'd use your eye and try to find a small batch that you find pleasing and send in a test few. If you're familiar enough with grading, the costs should juve, and yet costs went up twice already last year, that is the rub. It's been a tough market.
  2. I'm surprised @trademarkcomics imo or tmk your the 1st person that has gone for "double covers" and "raw at that" on "purpose." I've personally always found them in the wild, supposing that gives some kind of provenance in order to determine if "real etc." Otherwise I buy graded, I envy your knowledge a bit, I'll at least be looking to see if there are learning opportunities! Kudos, and I'm glad you collect what you love!
  3. LOL! You have me beat by 1 book as I am at 4. This is probably a good book to keep picking up if can be found at a reasonable price. I picked up a copy in 9.8 of issue #2, not the 1:50 ratio like y'all, but I wasn't sure if the LCS was giving me a line about the "good price" as it was something on consignment there paid $60 out the door so idk I figured it was a nice enough regular cover, so I didn't really know and the key collector app just confused me further on "what it was"
  4. My brother bought the, "I drink and know things" shirt a couple of cons ago Definitely more comic dealers than at my con, only by a gew, but enough to matter!

  8. Strength was in the acting and I know that took the cake. He had a lot to do to pull that off, is for sure.
