  1. Exactly, and lots of people on the PL have cited "extenuating circumstances" as the reason for not completing the deal, but that didn't save them.
  2. Are you guys actually promoting the concept of people finding years-old threads, putting the up on books, and then nominating the seller on the PL if he doesn't complete the transaction? If so, then
  3. Yeah, show me a guy who ears an expensive suit to a Con and I'll show you a guy with a massive dry cleaning bill.
  4. Any word on what PS Plus games will be rolling over this E3?
  5. The second guys, no, since they're buying/debating Moderns off the shelf, but who knows about the first photo? I know people with *lots* of money who look exactly the same.
  6. No, the "Hot First Appearances" market goes with it. I seriously doubt that once the superhero movie fad dies out, that serious collectors will be running around blowing off their GA books or SA keys for pennies on the dollar, but a lot of this recent CA and MA activity will kill those who invested in them.
  7. The vast majority of "OMG, I can't believe they paid $XXX for this!" posts on here are NOT under the $50 mark, and those are the ones people are talking about. Uh, what's that, like two, maybe three? This is the copper forum in case you forgot where you were posting . . . Yeah, and I'm still getting my mind around those CGC 9.9 NM 98 prices.

  9. Exactly what I've been saying. Prior to the sportscard meltdown and the dealer invasion of comics, Number One Issues were where the speculator money was going (which was why there were so many of them), along with "hot artists". I can remember buying a ~86-'87 OS Guide and Thor 337 was the most expensive comic in the entire Thor (not JiM) run. And they would break out any Miller, Byrne, Adams, etc. comic, no matter what series it was from. For a long time, #1 issues and Artists ruled the roost, and even important first apps like Silver Surfer, Kingpin, Wolverine, etc., were no more than $20-$30, and anything lower on the scale (like Punisher, Thanos, etc.) were commons, and IM 55 was only broken out due to the Starlin art. And there is no reason why those trends might not turn around again, especially if the current movie fad peters out (as it must someday) and first appearances take a huge nosedive.
  10. No, but I would say the percentage of such "brainless malcontents" is extremely low, like less than 1% of 1%, since they have no monetary reason to do so. Time is money, so only a fool would waste it without a payoff. On the other hand, of those mass-hyping the books, I would estimate a very large percentage of those do have a stake in it, through available books they want to sell. It's just the nature of the beast, and this whole "haters are trying to ruin my sales because they're jealous" fantasy you're promoting is pretty freaking crazy, even for the CGC boards.
  11. Exactly, and let the fools waste their money - that means less $$$ on real books that I might want to buy.
  12. It's so crazy that this stuff is selling for actual money.
  13. If you want some crazy running back hits, check out an Earl Campbell highlight video. Him goring Isaiah Robertson of the Rams is one of the most-watched videos in NFL history. http://www.complexmag.ca/sports/2013/09/most-brutal-hits-in-nfl-history/earl-campbell-isiah-robertson
  14. I wouldn't even call that a hit, just a basic goal-line push and spin. Now go load up Atwater hitting Okoye (who was an absolute beast) Campbell goring that poor Ram, Tatum hitting poor Sammy White, Bednarik almost killing Gifford, LT on Theisman, "Night Train" Lane on anyone, or any of another 100+ monster NFL hits, and you might understand what we're talking about.
  15. Finally? That book peaked in 2006-2008, hitting $1725 for a 9.8 according to GPA. What? UXM 283 sold for $1725 in 9.8? What the hell am I doing sitting on a shortbox of them. Stupid reading comprehension failed me again. Thought you were meaning the ASM 300. Great, now I gotta go stop the Fedex guy with my CGC shipment.
  16. This has to be one of the grossest inaccuracies in NFL lore. I love Bo and he was a beast that ran through NFL lineman like wet paper bags, but this was just a case of Bo hitting Boz at the goal line and spinning away from him for the score. If they had the "Greatest 500 Hits in NFL History" this wouldn't even be on the short list. I really don't know how this got started (other than the rampant Boz-Hate that was going on back then), and hits like Earl Campbell on Tatum (or him goring of that poor Ram ) or Atwater on the Nigerian Nightmare or Tatum on Sammy White are *real* hits that shake your living room. This was just a basic football play that got blown way out of proportion. It's crazy because I watched an NFL Top 10 Draft Busts and Boz was on the list - and he was up for Rookie of the Year and had a pretty good career until he busted down. Man, I could count 25+ bigger busts than him, but again, history is skewed due to him being an SOB.
  17. Thats I can't even sell my NM copies in the sales thread maybe time to move it to feebay Along with ASM 300, this is another of the very few books I speculated on. My ship may have finally come in on this one too. You've been ripping on copper books for 12 years. Nice to see you come over to the dark side. I don't rip on Copper books, just Moderns. IMO, anything after 1990-91 isn't a comic book anymore, but an overpriced mini-TPB. Fair enough. Although I'd say 1993 and beyond. Yeah, I actually wrote "1992" and backdated it for effect, but '92 is the cut-off year for me.
