I used to hammer on him for posting sales threads on here, while also having the same book listed on eBay, a direct violation of the guidelines. That ticked me, and many others, off royally, and he would *keep* doing it. But that doesn't automatically mean we pile on when some vindictive buyer nominates him for PL based on "hurt feelings" on not getting a book he was told was not available. I would actually support a PL inclusion for his repeated cross-sales, but in this specific case, I actually think jawn was the bigger spoon. Which is why this will never end. But this is like falsifying evidence against a gang-banger you *know* is guilty of other crimes, so you justify the ethical lapse that way. Does Ocean deserve to be on the PL? Sure, but not for this perceived transgression.

So you are refuting the documented statement that you initiated the PL nomination process well in advance of the buyer? Is that even allowed? I thought the affected party had to formally start the process, and 3rd-party witch hunts were not allowed? Again, I am in no way supporting Ocean, just the integrity of the PL process for us all. I'd hate to start a sales thread, misplace a book that was later BIN'd by a dickwad buyer I already told via PM that it was no longer available, and suddenly find myself on the PL list.

Hey, I'm not supporting the previous actions of Ocean, as he's a major spoon, but we're supposed to look at this individual PL case and decide based on that, not whether he pizzed in your corn flakes 2 weeks prior. Ocean is a jerk, no doubt about it, but if we only allowed perfect forumites to sell, the Marketplace would dry up pretty quick, so I'm only looking if he deserves the PL based on this specific instance, and I just don't see it. Maybe he did deserve it for all his cross-post sales threads, but no one nominated him for that. It's just a witch hunt designed to get rid of a forum member that some on here *cough* Branget *cough* want to get rid of.

I read the entire thread, and it's pretty obvious that Branget dislikes Ocean and used the situation to his advantage. This scenario is like the judge rounding up a suspect before the police even have a chance of getting the victim to file a complaint.

Who cares, as according to Harvey, with no one in charge, there is effectively no way to stop these PL nominations. Otherwise, post the names of those who get an official vote on the PL list. There is no vote There is no vote There is no vote Just so you can ask again....there is no vote. So Harry was right, and you were wrong, with no official vote there is no official way to keep someone off the PL.

I didn't see anyone disputing it, and my repeated calls for names of the "inner circle" who officially vote on PL noms has also gone unanswered.

And after he had told said buyer *twice* that he was holding the books and not selling them via the CGC thread.? You're all jumping on ocean because he acts like a spoon, but that buyer was a vindictive little pinhead who not only ignored the PMs, but nominated the seller to the PL. Unbelieveable this jerkwad gets away scot free. Personally, if one goes on the PL, the other should be right behind him. After reading this chain of events, would any of you want to deal with Jawn in forum or PM sales?

If that's the way the PL list works, then it's totally flawed, as I could put a huge chunk of sellers on the list simply by dredging up old, open threads and putting the BIN on books that are either vastly underpriced compared to current market or were sold off long ago.

Same here, and this is truly bizarre. But if you read the original posts, you can see people getting increasingly angry at ocean's abrasive personality and a "witch hunt" mentality taking hold over the mob. They just don't want to admit it now.

He didn't tell the buyer he didn't want to sell. He hinted he may not want to sell. Some would say he was bartering. (thumbs u This has been asked about 100 times before, but exactly what kind of backwards English do you speak?

Then what's so special in this case? I see absolutely nothing to support that there ever was a transaction between two parties, and in fact, ocean stated he was keeping the book multiple times. I really don't get this at all, and I'd like to run Oceans' face through a cheese grater because of what a spoon he is on here.

Fair enough, but I don't believe in using that type of personal bias and conjecture in slapping people onto the PL. To me, it's sticking to the stated rules, with no wiggle room that sets a bad precedent for the rest of us. That's where we differ. And just an FYI, if this happens in the future, many will support a similar treatment of other sellers, regardless of personal bias.

I know, they're both still open. That's pretty basic, and no reason to repeat yourself. I seem to have to because some people seem to leave out relevant facts as if they simply do not exist. However, you should do it to prove whatever point you wish. According to the people on here, threads have only two states, OPEN and CLOSED. Is there a mysterious third one I'm missing?? Books-moved-to-ebay-but-still-technically-available-on-here threads. Is that a new Mod setting?

The more you guys railroad others into the PL, the less relevant the list will be. And exactly who voted for Ocean to be put on the list? Names?
