  1. Yeah, they're not even comics anymore (more like mini-TPBs) so the point is moot.
  2. Yes, CGC lowers the grade to 4.0 max for heavy fading, and the X-Men 1 3.0 is probably structurally better than another 3.0, so the buyer may have gotten a real steal, depending on the book. And do you guys *really* want me to post my "NM but faded CGC 4.0 X-Men 94" again?
  3. Tom Hardy would be a perfect choice, and much better than Jackman, who only really works because of makeup and CGI. Have you seen him in Warrior, he's a freaking out-of-control beast: I still think a young Mel Gibson would have been absolutely perfect (I also think Riggs was based on Wolverine) from a size/look/personality perspective. On a side note, Hardy is also reprising the Mad Max role....
  4. Sorry guys, but "Hot Artist" Copper Age books went out with mullets, and it's all about the "First Appearance". If I was looking for potential breakout books, I would be assembling a list of any character remotely associated with the X-Men, and then seeing where they appeared first. I used to do that, and bought any books on the list (like NM Annual 2) I found in the bargain bins. Harder to do now, but there must be some diamonds in the rough.
  5. This whole "First Silver...", "First Bronze..", etc. appearances is just pure BS concocted by OS and their dealer coalition to drive demand towards more available books. A lot of these GA books are quite rare, so instead of looking for them fruitlessly, the OS advisors decided to artificially create new first appearances based on era. Those books were easily obtainable, and flipped for massive profits, so the trend continued. But it's just one big scam.
  6. When it comes to "Nominal First Appearances" (like Antman, Rocket Racoon, etc.) there seems to be a Perfect Storm, and those are easy money right now.
  7. Sure, the initital run of Pixar movies are great, and they meld all levels of writing to create something special that all ages can enjoy. I think Toy Story 2 is one of the best animated movies ever made, but that's not what Spider-man 2 was. ASM 2 was a bad Dreamworks ripoff of a Pixar idea, with dumb writing, bad acting and a tone directly centered on the 8-10 year old viewer. No offense, but I can't really understand why an adult (other than seeing their kids enjoy it) would classify ASM2 as a quality movie deserving of your money. I take my kids to lots of trashy movies like this, but I still understand how trashy and low-brow they are.
  8. That you're not longer 8 years old, and your mind is demanding entertainment befitting an adult.
  9. But he's not Cable and he's a freaking baby with no lines, no character and no personality. If Nathan had appeared as an adult or even a teenager over a series of issues, I might agree that the "First Nathan Summers" might be more important, but no one really cares about "First Baby Nathan" in X-Men 201.
  10. Sony. The executive producers. The director. The writers. Among others Exactly, and pretty well anyone involved in the movie, especially those with revenue points. That's the *only* reason A-list talent accepts these idiotic duties/roles on PG-13 funny book tripe like this, to make a huge amount of coin on billion-dollar returns. Do you just wake up a mean cynical person,or does it grow during the course of the day? Do you honestly think serious writers, directors, actors and other "artistes" actually like working on big budget tripe like ASM 2? Sure, and I guess that's why they all take huge pay cuts to work on quality movies. So..............You DO wake up like that? Just pulling your chain JC. I know, and I just dislike that society seems to be getting dumber by the minute, with "hit shows" like Duck Dynasty, Housewives of XXXX and Honey Boo Boo, and tripe like ASM 2 being held up like it's some filmic masterpiece. Just, wow.

  13. So you are actually admitting that ASM 2 was written specifically for the mentality of a pre-schooler? I totally agree, but I'm surprised to see such a dateless fanboy as yourself freely admit this.
  14. His New Mutants covers weren't that bad, and both 87 and 93 are pretty good. It really wasn't until Image and his later (cough) work that he went totally insane.
  15. I never really read any Moon Knight books when I was a kid. My 1st real experience with MK was when those baxter paper reprints hit the stands. I think it was a 3-issue run. Some joker looking homicidal killer slashing nurses or something. It was intense. That was the end of the magazine run.
  16. Come on, post an Outlaw Kid 10!! I had an absolutely beautiful, perfectly-centered one that I gave to a sick friend, and I could never find its equal. This copy, from a forum member a while back, is the best I have right now, so if you got it, post it!!
  17. If you went to an afternoon show, who else is going to show up? I was there for the downtown premiere and there were tons of nerds there - the last time I saw so many Zeros was watching Pearl Harbor.
  18. The best Moon Knight stuff was in the 70's Magazine series - I was kind of blown away by it when I read the Essentials and went back and got all the original copies.
  19. So, you are slamming my opinions on the actual movie and haven't even seen it yet? We have hit a new low.
