Because I like to collect comics, just as I like to watch quality movies, funny book or otherwise, but ASM2 is a steaming turd that even the fanboys won't be able to save domestically. When Avengers and DKR and Batman Begins, etc. came out, I gave them great reviews, but ASM2 is firmly in the "Ghost Rider/Daredevil"camp, albeit slightly better to look at due to the insanely-high budget. You saw it already? Yep, had a freebie due to some ads the in-laws ran at the theater - lots of free graft. I would *love* to see even the greasiest fanboy say something great about Foxx's performance - it is so bad it has to be seen to be believed.

No matter what the faboys say, this is NOT a good movie, and it has some of the worst writing and acting I've seen in a long time. Garfield is terrible, Foxx is even worse, Stone is okay, and about the only quality performance (mainly because it's the only part written even mediocre) was DeHaan, and even he was far better as Harry than the Goblin.

i just love how dateless fanboys get all angry and insulted if you don't think the latest funnybook movie is the "best movie ever!". And anyone who's not seen it yet, this is a real turd and if you thought Garfield looked like an emaciated, twitchy meth addict before, your mind is going to be blown in ASM2. And how anyone could think that Jamie Foxx's "loser nerdboy" performance is anything less than horrific, it totally beyond comprehension. He takes "over-acting" to a whole different level - from Ray to Django Unchained to this trash. Unbelievable. During his entire pre-Electro bit at the start, I can guarantee a good percentage of the theater will be doing this

Just got the email, and it looks like Disney finally woke up to the potential fanboy money, and Infinity Version 2.0 will include..... Marvel Superheroes!!

Ah, Seal-Boy, possibly the worst comic in the Bronze Age. -

Oh, they exist, they're just tucked into collections throughout the world and rarely see the light of day. I had a 9.X of SME 4 that I was going to scan, but now that I see that one, I won't even bother. And that My Love 14, I've got nothing even in the same Zip Code. -

I've always liked these because they were the books I remember getting passed down to me from older friends& family, and my friend's older brothers, etc. I just missed them by a few years. I never liked the late-SA Marvels (too simplistic/generic for me), but to me, these books were what Marvels were all about, and the sheer selection and imagination was incredible. Romance, Western, Horror, Funny Animal, Feminist - all genres that were dead when I really started up buying. -

The top one might be better (nicer corners), but it has some weird manufacturing issue on the top-left corner, like it got jigged at the printer. For some reason these started popping up about 2005 or so, and I bought quite a few around the same time - I am thinking there was some kind of warehouse find and that book was part of it? -

I must have just got lucky then, as I have HG multiples of all the MOTP (and at least singles of all the COTL books), including 17, but those black cover Marvel Tales are tough for some reason. Do you have a HG Monsters on the prowl #20 JC? I have found it impossible to find a HG raw copy . Really? I have a whole bunch of those (maybe 5?), and even have a couple of scans from books I've bought. The nicest one is probably from the same lot as that MOTP 17. -
Which is why he would never, ever get cast in a team movie.

Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
joe_collector replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Those were my thoughts after this past Winter in the Northeast. I know, it was just a taste of a pseudo-Canadian winter and we never did get 2 feet of snow at any one time, so I guess I should be grateful, but this one almost broke me. This winter almost did break me, and I felt like that guy in the Kingsford TV commercial who comes stumbling out of his house, delirious and mumbling "there was nothing... just white". "Get this man a burger!!" -

I've got quite a few copies of the PF horror books, but those black Marvel Tales are much harder to find. It's also nice to see that even the Oakland copy of Monster on the Prowl 14 has the same printing defect as all my copies. -

My thought exactly - those two PFs are among the toughest to get in HG, and in the case of the Woodstock cover, one of the highest demand esoteric books. -
No way, only suckers pay for full retail for (non-LEGO) movie or TV-licensed games.

Those files are both dated 8/29/2005, but I have some earlier ones from 2003-2004, so that's why I chose that time period. If I was making satirical JPGs of the phenomenon, then it was a hot topic on here.

Obviously you've never bought a book from greggy.

How does pressing have anything to do with undisclosed micro-trimming? Because when Ewert was taking all those mid-grade books and then selling then in CGC 9.6-9.8 slabs, the "board faithful" kept saying he "just pressed them". That was the answer to his magic for years, and pressing quickly became identified as a "get rich quick" scheme and it exploded overnight. Of course, people like myself and BB were quickly proven right that Ewert was doing more than just pressing, but that doesn't change the fact that his record-breaking sales still drove pressing to unheard of heights. i also have a bunch of these Ewert joke posts I did, all circa 2003-2005, so that was definitely a jumping off point for rampant pressing.

Those are the only genres they can *afford* to produce. That and sequels.
