  1. I remember clipping a few of them at the start, then after looking at the gaping holes in my books, I figuratively slapped myself and stopped doing it.
  2. The truth is never silly, and Marvel Premiere 1 is actually the First Appearance of Warlock.
  3. Agreed, and just buy what you like (which to me is well-presented copies of books I like) and don't get caught up in the 9.8 frenzy unless your OCD forces you to.
  4. I don't know about the price, but that's a very important book, and one that really started off the Copper Age. And the seller rated it as "a very good copy" not a "Very Good" copy, and you can clearly see it's in higher grade than VG.
  5. This is eerily similar to the baseball card fad before it all melted down, with speculators running around looking for virtually any rookie card from the past.
  6. With all the Warlock hoopla, is this book seeing any action?
  7. No, the point is that people should follow the guidelines and not post sales threads before they a) have the book in hand or b) have a scan or picture up.
  8. I think we need to report threads that do not "List scans or information about the grade of the offered books". There are too many people popping up with "Selling X Big Ticket Book" and then they leave it at that, and then post an image (or not) much later.
  9. Why did you have to quote every single picture just to say that? Some people are on mobile devices.
  10. I heard about that, but how does it relate to the boards? They were here. They showed up in a thread after being called out as scammers. Crazy, got a link?
  11. That guy is doing it wrong. You are supposed to make it look too good to be true . . . He's trying a new strategy - highball the initial offer, then lowball scam when it doesn't sell. And I just love that "I had an older ID, but lost the password" and "I have eBay ID and references" (without posting any naturally).
  12. I'm sure it was very innocent but it just seems weird. I didn't mean in *that* way, only that they were so nice because they thought of Cap_Freak as a "nice little kid" when in reality he was an "evil little sociopath" and many wouldn't listen, even after repeated transgressions (that Borock one showed clearly he was Damian Omen).
  13. Even CAP FREAK tried the "I dare you to put me on the HOS-PL - I dare you" approach. It didn't end well for him. What bugged me about this whole ordeal was how the "old timers" on here would support this fool, even giving him free vintage comics, almost like they were addicted to the notion of a kid liking their hobby. Anyway, this is just begging for a photo of Mr Creme Brulee.
  14. I bought this big lot of Marvel Picture Frame books (F/VF to VF/NM) and most of them had those pre-MJ "skimpy lingerie girls/diamond" inserts. Hilarious stuff.
  15. OMFG, that is one book that I used to try and pick up whenever I saw it at a show, and I probably have a short stack of them. I always liked Psylocke as a character, and there was no downside to blowing a buck or two (or less if you get lucky) on a copy.
  16. Not speculating will save you more money than it makes you. I regret not picking up multiples of comics that I *knew* would be worth it (like Ultimate SM #1 White) but it also saved me almost entirely from the 90's stupidity (I dropped out early and never bought a multiple) and not wasting any of my money.
  17. Within a year after the show is cancelled. It's the way of the (current) world - anyone still talking about a defunct series a year after it's gone is looked at with disdain and a bit of fear.
  18. I guess I did buy a few nice copies of Avengers 181 through the years. Here's a scan I found from a book I bought from GAC in 2008. A really nice cut.
  19. Real variants, yes. Fake, manufactured cover variants, no freaking way.
  20. I would also note that lots of other forums I frequent have limits on who can post For Sale ads, and with so many high-dollar comics floating around, it's needed even more here. And yes, the post count and date joined are on the page, but the speedometer is also clearly marked on every car, yet people still speed and break the law.
  21. That sounds good to me, and if it cuts down on their newbie scam artists mass-selling on our boards, then it's a good thing.
  22. That post has about as much sense as an empty wallet. You do realize that no one is complaining about not being able to see their post count, but that these scamming nitwits are mass-infiltrating the boards, making fraudulent use of our goodwill, and ripping off less-careful members.
  23. ASM 181 - Creepy guy steals microscope from Uncle Ben's grave.
