  1. SOLD at 20% OFF! Strange Tales #109 in VG- range. Craftily retconned (by who, anyway? Current storylines? Some hype site?) into the 1st appearance of Sersi the Eternal. $100
  2. I’m just glad it includes an effort to get floppies in front of kids! Every childhood should have the joy of comics! (And every adulthood should have the joy of sex, but that’s a different thread!)
  3. Thank you Bob! It was uncanny timing; once the books were offered to me, I did some quick searches for parts books, and Tony’s pages from #33 came up. Between Tony’s pics, the seller’s pics of the book, and an online copy of the complete issue, I was able to determine I could complete it by making both purchases. Of course, I can’t say for certain, but they sure look to be from the same book. When you look at the first and last interior pics I posted, the holes on the book body and middle pages seem to match up, and the page quality is spot-on identical. Like you, I’ve got several parts/parts books I’ve been trying to complete for the longest time (consider this virtual commiseration over Cap 17), and they can take some time! I did find a missing centerfold pin-up for Captain Marvel Adventures #13 so there’s always hope if that was out there! I thought they had all been ripped out and taped to walls 80 years ago!
  4. Thank you again Tony! I’ll have to ask the collector who had the outer body of the book where he got it. He’s in the southeast and has had it a while; I know that much offhand.
  5. SOLD! Anthro #6 (final issue) in VG range. Awesome Howie Post “Betty and Veronica” catfight cover. Howie Post pencils inked by Wally Wood inside. Anthro gets married; the catfight does occur, and the ending feels like it would have happened to Archie… $10
  6. A couple items may not stay but the Cap 33 and the 1st print Cherry Poptart go into the black hole portion of the collection for sure! (The OA is Esteban Maroto from Creepy #88)
  7. I promised you guys a big wedding, and here it is….Except, it may seem crazy, but I really believe it’s a reunification of actual parts of the same book. Of course there’s no way to prove it, but take a look, hear me out, and indulge me… The book, missing 10 pages (two 4-page leafs and a single two-page sheet, common enough in WWII-era books) came from a collector in the southeast, to whom I was connected by boardie @Unstoppablejayd (thanks Jay for the intro!). The exact pages needed came from boardie @Half-Gringo (thanks Tony!) also in the southeast. The staple holes and page color/quality match perfectly. Who can say for sure, but it certainly resembles a reunification. Either way, it’s a great marriage.
  8. Agreed; just my anecdotal perception….which I think relates to your paper stock point. They were definitely flimsier. And while they were in all copies I think they were in fewer different books. One month only, or maybe a couple? Didn’t Mark ads run over a longer period of time? Inserts are a fascinating little niche!
  9. I think the pizzazz inserts are less common than Mark Jewelers. Cooler too IMO as it’s a Marvel mag ad.
  10. Batman #78 in Fair. 1st appearance of Roh-Kar, Manhunter from Mars. (Precedes J’onn J’onzz). Cover detached, with tears and writing; 1st page partial vertical split. Paper is supple, bright and highly readable. An affordable copy of a sought-after and fun issue. $200
  11. Blitzkrieg #1-5 (full set) #1-3 in FN range, #’s 4&5 in VF range. If the war genre has any sleepers, this is it — Kubert and Kanigher at their best (Lee Elias does the art in the final issue). Explicit Nazi brutality throughout, from concentration camps to child killings. EC war books and Warren mag Blazing Combat rightly get the love for war depiction but this bronze run is right there. Take the lot for $50
