  1. I’m with you, even though I’m not a big Kang/time travel fan,I loved that stretch from about 137 (when the Beast and Moondragon joined) through 177 (culmination of the Korvac saga)…there’s everything you cited, return of Wonder Man, intro of Graviton, the Count Nefaria trilogy, a great Dr Doom/Attuma/Namor crossover with Super Villain Team-up #9…. A great bronze run…
  2. Love this prediction; totally forgot that meeting. I have been thinking #142 might be a longshot cheap bet for those who like to spec — this is the Kang story where Two-Gun Kid and Hawkeye become friends via time travel, and Two-Gun comes back to modern times with him. Hawkeye and the Two-Gun Kid just has a made for Disney+ ring to it. Might not last more than 2 seasons, it I could see it. But your #132 call is much safer/more likely to find renewed relevance.
  3. Krang is better than Kang because his skin really is blue. And he wears a fishbowl on his head!
  4. When they reboot Howard the Duck, I would look for Doctor Bong to come back as Doctor Klang.
  5. When The Blip appears in a Marvel movie and TTA #15 explodes out of reach, I’m holding you responsible, Jimbo!
  6. I know we’re in Silver, but obviously the companies span decades, so I just want to offer that IMO there is not better comic-reading value for your entertainment dollar currently than back issue Copper-90’s DC. In an era where Marvel gave us Secret Wars II, superheroes with big outlandish guns, lots of soap opera (looking at you, X Drek) and on and on, DC was putting out lots of very readable stuff. Not just swamp thing, Sandman, Watchmen, and the better known stuff, but the Justice League incarnations from Giffen to Morrison, the 2-year Blue Beetle run, most of Captain Atom, early Wolfman Perez Titans, LSH through the 80’s, Peter David Aquaman, the Wally West Flash years, Ostrander’s Suicide Squad and Martian Manhunter…lots of dirt cheap, near keyless affordable fun. Marvel same timespan not so much.
  7. Over here we usually found them in three-pack bags. There were loose singles on occasion. K-Mart, Caldor, etc ... department stores...
  8. There are threads dedicated to parsing this topic...As a kid, we called them Whitman reprints, as they came in Whitman bags, but my understanding of the business arrangement (from the aforesaid threads) is they are early direct market Marvels distributed by Whitman. I grew up (relax, I didn't really; its just an expression) near Poughkeepsie, home of Western Publishing (Dell/Gold Key/Whitman) and the bags were in every department store.
  9. And its already a more than fair price -- last open auction for a cgc 3.0 on ebay went more than Jay's ask! I've got one, or this thread would be over already,
  10. Well, it was a reasonable guess from the cover blurbs! Fun thread as always, Rickster
  11. Lemme guess … it’s “The Ransom of Maid Marion,” ain’t it?
  12. I get this problem on the iPad sometimes. Start with the saved horizontal right side up-appearing image, rotate it twice so it’s upside down, slightly resize and save. Then rotate it right side up again, and save. That usually solves the upside down glitch for me. Hope this helps.
  13. By any chance, are you posting pix from an iPad? re: the upside down issues
  14. Enjoyed the story; happy for you!
  15. Hello boardieland, An eBay auction closed May 2 for four incomplete, coverless Timelys - three human torches and a Cap 17. I’m wondering IF any boardie was the winner, AND, if so, I’m hoping you needed the Torches, not the Cap, as I am seeking a centerfold for a Cap 17. (While I’m not generally a resto fan, I have come to accept marriages between 2 incomplete copies of a golden age book in order to finish one off.) If you’re out there in boardieland and willing/able to spare the Cap (or at least the cf — maybe you needed other wraps ) to enable me to complete a copy, I’d love to work out a purchase, trade or whatever might suit you and your collecting needs.
  16. Thx - just looked it up on eBay to see the cover image and I noticed 242 (Jim Lee cover) is also getting some love, but is a step behind 241 as results are more mixed.
  17. Ginsberg, this is your chance! You could be the first guy/gal to actually put a Flash Comics in a Flash Sale around here!
  18. Kidding aside, one could look to the “silver age” of the pulps, the men’s adventure (“sweat”) magazines.
  19. THAT'S the spirit! Now is good; avoid the finals so everyone can be here! (Waitaminit...what am I saying???)
  20. Enjoy! (Uh... are they in it?? I am assuming... I really am unplugged from it, but good for you, Jim, if they are!) Enjoy it, and we'll all be goofballs here on Wednesday I see they are in it...I just used the interwebs thingie to obtain participation information re: NBA Finals...good luck to your team!
