  1. If you're into those alternative/independent/underground hybrids of the period...Yummy Fur #9 had a print run of 1,673 copies. (Not my thing; stumbled across a full set in high grade. Learned that in the process. Got it for a song, and flipped it as a bargain. But a collector is happy and it's moved into the right hands. Maybe it's silly, but I kind of feel an obligation when parsing out an estate collection I've acquired. Cult stuff with a narrow, deep fan base can fall out of the hobby if it's not passed on.)
  2. If you have an OSPG handy, check out Doug Sulipa's market report. Lots of info on Whitman editions. IIRC, June 1980 Whitman books are the toughest ones. Not sure if that applies only to DC books imprinted as Whitman, though.
  3. Street and Smith biker gang to street and smith skull gang
  4. Thx! It was not supposed to be among the handful of books I was meeting the guy to buy (he swore a week or so earlier he had a buyer for it) but I showed up for five other books and there it was as well.
  5. Warner Bros would probably find a way to blow it, but Kamandi is so ripe for picking as the next dystopian film adaptation...Not saying pay top dollar for the books; I juat think it's one of those comics properties that's far from fully mined in the comics medium, let alone others.
  6. Finally wrangled this out of a guy (non-boardie) that I've been in discussions with for a while
  7. Yo! Lizards2! What gives? I'm checking out this here nifty Shadow I just picked up yesterday and, low and behold....
  8. How did I forget this one? Not only a great cover, a PRIME candidate for one of Kav's patented "Shouldn't this be worth more?" Threads!
  9. Cap saves Bucky to everybody saves Bucky (and Toro)
  10. Brilliant! That's what I need for it. That custom bag on mine was made by the dealer who gave it to me. It was back in high school; I put on a local convention and he gave it to me as a thanks. I think he was tired of lugging it and trying to preserve his condition, at least as much as he was grateful that a high school kid pulled off a decent small-town show.
  11. My first OA was actually gratis from the artists:
  12. Wham-o Giant Comics April 1967....14x21 inches, largest format ever produced....six issue subscription advertised, but #1 is only issue ever produced....Wally Wood, Lou Fine, John Stanley, Warren Tufts, Ernie Colon and others over 1,500 panels...CGC says too big to slab; I say can't you borrow from your movie poster division?? Any love here?
  13. Thank you! The three DC's would grade lower than their appearance as each has its own spine splitting issue. Bats and Supes slight cover splits, Bats being worse. The CC has that square bound problem where back cover and last couple pages' top couple inches are split off in a neat, straight line. Paper quality wise it's the best of the three, followed by Supes. The middle three books are more solidly high VG to middle grade 5.0-ish books, without accounting for any GA grading curve. But they are all take 'em when you find in the wild types, so I took 'em!
  14. Thx! I haven't read the Supes yet, but that would explain why it was a SOTI book. I was wondering. The Shadow cover is a cool one; some of the Street and Smith's don't get much love but I find myself warming to them. Plus, it's got a ton of skulls on it, so what's the over/under that ComicJack has multiples of it and/or the highest graded ped copy of it??? I wouldn't bet against that!
