  1. It's something to do, isn't it Here's a graphic I put together to show the first twenty Marvel UK Price Variants: All pre-hero, and some of them are so hard to find you'd have more chance getting fifty Amazing Fantasy's before you found one. If you was rich, I mean.
  2. Albert, you should post these over here: https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/29590-pre-hero-marvels/?do=findComment&comment=12508891 The guys there will love them.
  3. No idea on Mehico, Frishico. There is no industry data available for the early UKPV numbers that I am aware of but the historic best guess rule of thumb is between 5 and 10%. Whether that's accurate or not, my instinct, based on years of looking, is that early UKPVs are spectacularly scarce in terms of surviving numbers - certainly in terms of availability - compared to their US cousins. Only today, in another thread, I saw what is only the second copy I've ever seen of Battle #70 as a UKPV.
  4. Check my journal page for what UKPVs exist, Frisco. JIM #58 is a fairly tough book to find in pence as it goes, especially in grade. Maybe because it ties with Gunsmoke Western #58 as being the joint first Marvel UKPV. My copy is gloriously loved. Which is to say it is tatty.
  5. I've posted it in this thread about 9 times Frisco. One for each d
  6. I've done the legwork, but can't recall posting any of it.
  7. I have issue #67 of Super Adventure Comic and that also has 6d and 9d copies in existence. Here's my 6d copy: It's quite a nice copy, for a 65 year old comic. No turbans though. Sydney Australia's K. G. Murray had this printed by Morrison & Gibb of Edinburgh, Scotland, for distribution in the UK by Atlas Publishing of London: Here is the book on the AusReprints site: https://ausreprints.net/issue/75257/0 I can only find one image of the 9d (actually looks like 9p) copy and it's on the AusReprints site and lists the internal contents as: It says there is no indicia but attributes the book to 'Colour Comics Pty. Ltd'. My 6d copy has 28 pages to the 9d copy's 24, the same shorter cut and differing story contents, just like my #57. I don't think that either publisher/printer used the original DC plates from World's Finest #78: But there is clearly a relationship between the 6d and 9d copies, as they share the 'Colour Comics Pty Ltd' cover logo and each have the same pricing circle location. And yet each were printed in different locations, for different publishers. Turns out that Colour Comics Pty Ltd was part of the K G Murray group, so that's the link: One must have shared the plates with the other, I'm guessing. @AJD Andrew! Anything else to add, oh King? It's quite fun just starting from scratch in an area you're unfamiliar with and digging around...
  8. It's lovely, isn't it. I don't think anyone has created a thread here to specifically showcase Len's reprint titles so I suppose Define's thread would be the best fit:
  9. Get digging and see what you can find out Yorick. Or do I have to do everything around here
  10. I've got no idea, Yorick! I keep meaning to delve further into what might have been going on, if indeed the knowledge is out there to find, but never quite get around to it. I can't see them using DC plates though. More like an Alan Class situation I would have thought.
  11. You're welcome, Hibou. There's some cool stuff in your journals - if we can get a few more eyes on them, all the better. Bowie fans take note!
  12. If anyone is interested in the history of what used to be referred to as the 'new' journals, but which are now four years old and very much our old / current journals, have a read of this thread below from our old, much missed Administrator, Scott (now there was a guy who knew how to communicate with the members - "At Your Service"): A word of caution - Don't rely on any of the navigation tips within it though, as many aspects are now out of date. What tends to happen over time, alas, is that Invision (the site software owners) make changes and they are not communicated to our CGC technical staff. The onus is on us usually therefore, to note what has changed, flag it to Admin and to try to do something about it. It's not a perfect world, is it....
  13. You'll laugh, hopefully, but I always thought that was a bear piddling in the snow The old eyes aint that great, I'm afraid
  14. No worries, I didn't take it that way. Yes, exactly that - personal blogs that members can create and share anything they want within forum guidelines. I use mine as a repository of key information relating to variants. Notwithstanding the navigation issues, the software has some really cool features. Then you'll likely never look
  15. We've hit that magic seven post figure and are now 'Popular Now'
  16. You're the third to mention not noticing them, so the thread is serving a purpose. They work after a fashion, and are well worth a visit Sigur. Don't let the fact that they're hiding, and have cranky software limitations, put you off
