  1. I love that issue. Sums up the Parker mood for me, that one. Read it over and over as a kid.
  2. Shame it's been archived Anyway, I aint posting again until you do a 2,000th extravaganza recap post. No pressure Reg, but he's judging you....
  3. Do it Reggie, or I'll get your mate Bill to put the fluence on you...
  4. Six posts to go after this one. Shall we all agree to let Reggie have the 2,000th? Seems fair, as he has escalated the whole thread to the something special that it is. It was a big pile of crap until he arrived @BigLeagueCHEW @FoggyNelson @ADAMANTIUM @ganni @Winterboy
  5. They don't look real to me. I can't explain why, just a gut feel.
  6. That Whitman, sorry, Early Direct Edition #173 isn't easy to come by
  7. I still remember the first day I saw an American Spidey original in 'Rodneys' in Barking. It was, I think, Amazing Spidey #180 - definitely one of the Andru Gobby books (hence my later affinity) - and I was mesmerised. He had it hanging by a peg on a string with a few other issues. As for comic fairs, well, I've followed the current one all over London at its various locations for 30+ years. I never tire of it. Same buzz, every time, even when I come away with nothing. Just being among the comics is enough to bring a wonderful peace over me. Our spiritual home where, just for those few hours, I forget everything else.
  8. For me it was long-ways Spidey UK weeklies (which at the time I had no idea were reprints)... ...the Spidey '67 Cartoon, which was repeated daily, seemingly every year, during the UK six week holidays, and which I would watch like a ritual with a can of coke and a Mars Bar (cold from the fridge)... Surely the best theme and incidental music of any TV show ever. And then my trusty toy web-shooters which, of course, practically made me Spidey: To this day, I can remember shitting my pants with excitement when the Spidey cartoon had the Rhino in it. Those days of innocence will never be bettered.
  9. Hello everyone, and welcome to the longest post since Greggy last posted his wares There are two lists - the first is the list of all 354 participants in the order that they signed up, the second is in alpha/numeric order to save straining your eyes looking for your name. If we have missed anyone, please drop @CGC Mike a line. I won't be playing myself this year, but I wish everyone the very best of luck! 10. Which theme did you prefer? First or second season?
  11. Here's our 220th, and possibly final, Dell UKPV - the inevitable Tom & Jerry #191 which has been in hiding since I started this charade: That enables me to finally complete that title, given my earlier, hopefully accurate assessment of the missing issues that clash with the UK title: I'm not sure there are any more to find now, Dell UKPVs, but you know my motto is 'never say never'. Well, one of them anyway. Will another appear one day? Watch this space.....
  12. Hello Flisty @Flisty I respond to you on a day that is misty. Always start with some poetry. It's nice to see some Charltons, Dells, Atlas and Big Keys for a change. The Big Keys are actually Gold Keys, by the way, but all Gold Keys are Big Keys in my book. My advice to you is to go to eBay, type in each title and issue number, and then select eBay sold. That will give you an indication of what sells, and for how much. Here's an example for one of the books you posted: That is the best way to get an idea if you are new to the hobby and unfamiliar with grading and prices. Searching eBay can be an art form, but you'll soon get the hang of it. A couple of other thoughts: Some of the books you posted are modern reprints - don't confuse them with the expensive originals and make sure you know what version you have (the wording inside - called the indicia - usually at the bottom of the first interior page - will tell you the title, date and often whether the book is a reprint). Your EC Shock SuspenStories is one such reprint with low value The condition of your comics is key. Tatty comics are worth less that lovely, as new copies, as I'm sure you'll appreciate So if I were you, I would look each comic up, place those that appear to have value (you can decide what is 'value' to you) and then, if you want, post some pictures in our 'Please Grade My Comic' forum here: https://boards.cgccomics.com/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/ Have a read of the guidelines first, if you do, and see how others have done it. Our members will help you understand what your comic would grade at and whether submission to CGC for encapsulation is worth it. Good luck, I hope you find some winners, and I hope you enjoy doing it.
  13. I added two more since my last post (I can't remember which two though without cross-referencing) so we're up to 110 confirmed issues across 26 titles: The 'no more than seven issues per title' scenario seems to be holding firm. I've added a total of 249 books in the US original date window and speculated that a total of 155 NBS issues might exists, based on the patterns observed: Where the titles have seven consecutive monthly issues (in line with the US original dates), a lot of the main titles seem to fit the date pattern below: So FF #169 could exist, as could Hulk #198. Note both missing issues are for the same month though. Coincidence? And somebody either didn't like the cover to FF #165, or they picked the wrong one to reprint. Or #165 does exist, and FF has eight NBS issues. Or something else. Dive in, anyone, if you find any that are not yet on the list...
  14. My profile page will give you a clue Rolandtiu Thanks for posting. I've got some Marvel NBS updates to post later - maybe you can see if you can add any more for us
