  1. Yes. A confrontation at least could have been quite powerful, the old catching up with the new. The reaction of someone who mattered.
  2. Cheers Aggie. I'm hoping to walk it through the London office later this year. I've never submitted before, so am slightly apprehensive.
  3. Hey, the Marvels had new stories, not just reprints like the DC's. Or did you feel cheated because you had to pay double for the same amount of new material? Should've gone for Charlton. Charlton "gave us more". More of what exactly, I won't say.
  4. Being the obvious difference between the two, the tax element might be the reason. Something to do with tax and Ireland, some requirement to state it perhaps, that was not required in the UK.
  5. Not sure what resources you have behind this Mike but with an external email invite out to all registered members there is scope for the numbers to increase wildly here. I've never seen so many new members, and members who have not posted publicly, add avatars in the last two hours. If you're on your own, I'd strongly consider setting a participant cap or even pulling this event and reassessing the entry criteria. You're going to drown mate, otherwise. And sorry to say it, but one post members claiming prizes is almost certainly going to cause problems and likely dissuade donations in the first instance. Is this a competition for the active board members, or a free for all for new joiners?
  6. Invision had a go. Five years on, the jury's still out on whether it was successful.
  7. A Nightmare on Square Street From angry squares a chasing, to scaredy circles fleeing...
  8. Congratulations Kev! You've just won Understatement of the Year
  9. The comic pre-dates the ban, but that doesn't mean the stamp on it does. It could have been applied long after, as the T&P stamps clearly were on the 1958 dated Charltons. Let's not forget that T&P were the "sole distributors in the UK", and the UK comprised England, Scotland, Wales and NI. So the books they imported should have been distributed to NI too, if we assume full UK distribution. That to me makes the other stamps for somewhere else, and the obvious place is Southern Ireland. I'm going to let you and Robot battle this one out as I'm knee deep in Charlton, Harvey, IW and Murray at present
  10. Yeah, it's a great book and anyone would be proud to own it. I just can't see how that tear looks natural and, as you say, if it has been 'doctored', then CGC have yet again let the side down with inconsistency. The guy with an AF15 with a microdot of colour touch in a restored holder would likely have the right hump looking at that book.
