  1. That's cool. I'm not on FB so all that content is lost to me. Let us know what Sarah says won't you, if you hear back
  2. £113... That's what I would have paid for the original not so long ago. I'm going to stop looking at these now, I think, from a monetary perspective.
  3. Yes, but is that krackle under them...?
  4. Yes. Spidey was an instantly recognisable pose from an identifiable source. For all we know, this Hulk was never used in anything else. You could spend ages looking and not find it for that reason. Nothing online that I could find, and usually someone has posted the connection, if it exists. Their are whole web pages devoted to Marvel corner box art. I'm sure there would be something online by now if it was from the pages of a previous book.
  5. Severin or Trimpe? No joy finding a source...
  6. Hold on, that was actually funny Who are you, and what have you done with Adamantium?
  7. It does, yes, good choice. I like arrival dates as a rule, but this is one occasion where I feel my eyes being drawn to it sufficiently for it to detract from the enjoyment of the cover image.
  8. Impressive, most impressive. If I collected comics just for the love of the covers, and money was no object, this would be one I would go for.
  9. Got ya. I see what you mean, but I think all three are different, separate font types myself. And I suspect this one may have been hand drawn: It's a damn fine thing either way.
  10. Good detective work, Wiz, I'd forgotten about this thread. I'm not following your comment above though regarding the "M" in relation to the logo - can you elaborate? ASM #33 ASM #34 ASM #101
  11. Too early for me, this, to add anything meaningful from personal knowledge, but I had a look at some of his other work and found this cover which, I think, is fabulous: I wonder if he coloured it too... Nice thread @Sarg - thanks for starting it. It makes a nice change to see artists from the past remembered, and getting a jot of recognition. Compare that cover to much of the soulless art of today. Brilliant.
  12. "When you can make a post about ASM #108, with a pence copy, cents copy, insert copy, Philippines copy, and an error copy from which you elaborate on the printing scenario discussion, and leave no trace, it will be time for you to leave" @Spider-Variant
  13. That's good advice. I put together a CGC 9.4 WP run of ASM 100-200 over some years (I already had them raw in multiples, so it was the next logical step). I decide to go for volume at the start, i.e. get a few handfuls of non-keys for the price of one key. The idea was that the greater volume of issues I had made me feel like I was well on my way to achieving the goal. It turned out to be an unwise move, as 121, 122 and 129 ended up costing me at least three times what I otherwise would have paid had I got them at the start. 129 especially became ridiculously expensive, ridiculously quickly. The non-keys did not increase anywhere near as much. So getting the big guns first definitely makes sense.
  14. I love that cover Yorick - and the price sticker is reminiscent of Woolworths from the 1980's I'm only cataloguing the Marvel NBS issues for now. I did consider widening the net but there are just too many of them for someone from a desktop in England to major on. I just wanted to see if I could map out the NBS Marvels as I find them enchanting and have owned a few in my time. And I like charting books to see what should / could exist once you've established the likely start and end points. It'll be cool to see how many more emerge over time - with people like Androolx and Ganni on the case I'm sure there'll be more to come.
  15. One more observation from me, slightly in contrast to my earlier comments - consider whether a collection of your favourite ASMs, Hulks, Silver Surfers etc would give you more pleasure than a straight ASM #1-375 on their own (which might include covers by artists you dislike, for example). Money and space will be considerations - if you have plenty of both, do your ASM 1-375 then move on to, or collect in parallel, other favoured titles / books. If space and money are tight, go back to my first paragraph! Good luck whichever way you go Lips - only you can decide
  16. I do. I wish I'd kept 1-200, the inserts, error copies and the promos. They would be impossible to gather again now. Be mindful, if you ever get close to completing your collecting goal, the enthusiasm may take a dip and your thoughts may turn to selling. It seems to be a natural cycle for some collectors, as their minds turn to new challenges. Take care that you don't go mad if that happens to you and you don't sell the stuff that enchanted you in the first place. Keep the best, then find a new challenge would be my advice - if it happens to you.
  17. It is. Comics are fun, whether CGC exist or not. Who cares who owns them?
  18. You're welcome. In my experience, it's very rare for any thread here at CGC to have more than a handful of active participants. There are casual readers, regular readers who don't show themselves and a small hard core of people who post regularly because they love the subject matter. We've got our small group!
  19. There's a big audience here Reggie, for what you are doing, trust me. Many CGC people read but don't comment, and many find the 'like' button an embarrassing triviality so they don't leave their mark. This isn't Facebore - many decent collectors are reading and enjoying. Don't let the lack of participation put you off (as I often do, in my threads). Take a look at the 'online users' page every so often after you've posted, and you'll see who's paying attention. And 93K views is a clue. Keep going mate.
