  1. Cor, they're such nice copies Mr T, thanks. First dibs my way if you ever sell up, ok? It's not something I've heard of before, no. I understand that Charltons were quite regional in their distribution, and missed many areas. The warehouse find makes sense though as there are a rump of copies that constantly turn up. Really nice to see some of these books in pence finally
  2. So, this Fightin' Air Force #12 dated October 1958 clearly blows the War at Sea #29 dated February 1959 out of the water (heh heh) as you say @Kevin.J Interesting that the number on the stamp is prophetically (?) a '1' I'm wondering though if this apparent outlier is a book that, as has been suggested prior, came over later than it's natural production / shipping date. Like the earlier Li'l Genius #38 I posted, this particular FAF issue turns up constantly in searches whereas the surrounding issues don't. The Li'l Genius examples had small price stickers, indicating that the may have preceded the &P stamps, but this FAF clearly has one. I just wonder if it got caught up in a wave of later unsold copies? Add to that that we have no examples around it. The War at Sea #29 starts a run of Charltons cover dated Feb, March, April, May etc, but this book sits alone. So I'm inclined to leave it aside as an outlier for the time being and wait to see if other issues appear (I'm dying to get to the next London Fair for some further research, but that is probably a forlorn hope for now). As far as the 'Gold Medal' lark goes, it's still a Charlton so nothing changes from a publisher perspective. I have another outlier to post soon which is similar. As has already been said, the stamps on all the examples we have posted so far may all have been done on the same day, having been stored and shipped in bulk in an event that started the ball rolling, maybe in early 1960. But it's a fun exercise either way and can only help to drive out a greater awareness as more and more informed people join in.
  3. Cheers Kevin, I'll add these three to the files and update the known stamped copy table. I like the story about the one your Dad got you. I lost my Dad in 2018 and my God do I miss him. That would be a treasured thing in my collection too. I'm hoping to post the ACG and Marvel findings over the weekend. A few things have cropped up that might keep me away for a bit. Fingers crossed
  4. HELP WANTED! To all those in the UK who read this thread, can you check your collections, records and memories and tell me whether any of you have a copy of, or can recall seeing another copy of this comic in pence: It's the last pence cover month - December 1981 - and I have only ever seen this one copy. I know it's a reprint title, and the numbers produced may therefore have been low, but one copy in ten years seems odd to me. Anyone?
  5. Nice collection there OWK - cool aren't they, these issues with issues
  6. Found it quicker than I thought! Here we go: I used to call these 'issues with issues' - the same issue of a title with multiple printing glitches in evidence. See also ASM #179 and 188
  7. It's a known one - I had several copies. There's also one where part of his hand is yellow. I'll dig the scans out later. Nice to see it again - first one I've seen in a bag though
  8. The number of times I turned down AF15's because £800 was 'too much'....
  9. Snap Same number '2' T&P stamp. Different placements but both attempting to dodge the action...
  10. Is it any wonder the Sandman cometh after all those Shaggs.
  11. Indeed!!!! A veritable Shaggapalooza up in here!!! A Shagg's a Shagg and no Shagg's no joke.
  12. Glad you liked it. You can't beat a Miller I've been trying to find out for a long time. No luck yet That's cool because it's my first April 59 T&P'd Charlton - keep 'em coming Mr T
  13. Indeed, the December Strange Tales and TOS copies are both out for that reason. I concentrated on these three but found nowt: We only have two examples of this printing scenario currently, both on the same book. Whilst the coincidence is strong, in respect of the Dec/Jan JIM sequence, it could just be one random, local seller, who just added their own increased price to his stock. One to keep an eye on though.
  14. I love that they're all pence copies on the cover there Oh for a time machine....
  15. Hello Mr Thorpe! I somehow manged to miss your post yesterday, sorry (it might be because it needed to be approved prior to posting, being your first post and all). Yes, it does look like the first post from new members has to be approved by a moderator before it lands, so I wasn't ignoring you @Mr Thorpe :
